Again, the only sport compacts I could see dropping a dime for would be the WRX, GTI, Miata and BRZ/86. Everything else can just pound so much sand for all I care....even the Civic SI really really leaves a lot to be desired IMHO.

At some point I need to go to Pittsburgh for a few things, would love to pick your brain on a few things over lunch. Certainly the market is reacting well to Cadillac, sales are finally starting to reflect their efforts...

At this point, the compelling arguments in the sport compact segment are the GTI and WRX....with the Civic SI a distant third. In terms of pure sports cars, the only real game in town is the Miata below 30 or 35K....370 Z is very dated....

Probably true, but the CT6 seems awful pricey for what it is. But then again, I am not a luxury car buyer.

I trust Car and Driver and Road and track far more than I trust Motor Trend, FWIW. ...and at the CT6 price point, it is knocking on the back door of the S class...I like it but were I a luxury buyer I would find it hard to justify the price.

The six-speed automatic transmission proved another rough spot. It can shift at odd times, and often it doesn’t work transparently, especially on mid-throttle roll-offs from the line. Occasionally it lurched into second gear as if the car were hiccuping; once, it seemed to disconnect from the engine completely for half a second, then slammed into gear as if the car had been rear-ended, eliciting a startled gasp from both driver and passenger. We’re guessing that more elegant powertrain calibrations will roll out over time as buyer feedback comes in. One would expect better from a luxury car...certainly Acura and Infinity do not face this issue....

Exactly my point...when the newness of this wears off.... Exactly correct!

Add to that snow is cold, water is wet, the sunrise happens in the morning.... If anything the Honda is more modern and sleek, and it is still far from an attractive automobile IMHO.

And Cmicasa nails why I said I would take a CTS V over anything else over 50 k.... chassis tuning and vehicle dynamics.

Nor can I....

...and this is the problem, everyone is wanting a supercar for Cruze prices....not going to happen. Besides, the WRX is a grand more and much more of a performance car. GTI is much better road car....better options exist for the money. But GTI and WRX share a body shell and most other components with high volume sedans. BRZ is a bespoke chassis and body style....

This is surprising, I will take my sons, both of whom are over 6 foot, to a Lincoln Showroom and verify this for myself.

Small things yes...but it still leaves a lot to be desired.

Most of them want to haul their friends, and 4 doors is actually an advantage-which is why the Focus and Fiesta ST, along with the SI sedan, sell so well. Also with people putting off marriage and lots of young people getting horizontal and knocking knees, there is a good chance his young female friend has a young un. A Focus St or Civic SI 4 door will swallow a car seat, good luck with that with a BRZ. Probably not realistic for a naturally aspirated 4 cyl in that price range.

The Miata kicks its ass in many ways. hate to say it, but for all of my lvoe of this car, given the choice, I think I would take the Miata. They are also trying to make it affordable. People are comprising it to the Honda S2000, and the S2000 like a lot of Japanese sports cars was very expensive when it came out. The S2000 often sold for something like 32 grand, which adjusted for inflation is probably like 40 grand... The BRZ/Toyota 86 sells for 25 grand, which adjusted into 2004 or 2005 dollars is something like 18 grand....you cannot compare an 18,000 car with a 40,000 car... And peoples incomes have not kept pace with inflation. a turbo and a nicer interior might push this to 30-35K, where it will start to compete with V8 Mustang, V8 Camaro, et al

Nice indeed....! Love the Trailhawk and the Supra...but the whole list is fantastic....!

If we are at 55K or less....no need to spend the whole 55K... #1. WRX STI, #2. Golf Alltrack.... #3. Used-240Z Nissan/Datsun....preferably a survivor in somewhat original condition... #4. Used-ND Miata, set up for autocross, less than 3 years old... #5. The best diesel GM truck I can buy used over 5 years old and in budget....preferably 4WD

I do like the room in the 300...V8 power is a huge plus also....

I have anxiety issues also....

Doing the opposite, finding hard rock and metal being inspirational...I have a lot to get done...!
