My son goes to the gym for about 2 or 3 hours a day....my older son, the one you met. The university i work at has a program that allows students who want to work in fields like athletic training or sports management work one on one with people as part of the curriculum in the weight room. Spring semester I am going to see if I can try to build some leg muscle. I can bike 35-40 miles with ease at the moment, i want to push that to 50-60 miles a ride....

Dream Car Garage: Veterans Day Edition, Part 3
A Horse With No Name replied to ykX's topic in The Lounge
I love Canadair aircraft....I actually changed my flight itinerary the last 3 times I flew to fly on one.... As for the 747....your mistress has a big ass and wide hips!- 18 replies

They question at time weather or not Miata drivers who are male are emasculated. I want to buy another Miata, and I damn sure know I will be emasculated by my wife with a dull rusty knife if I buy another VW product. They have so blown their level of trust with her....

Dream Car Garage: Veterans Day Edition, Part 3
A Horse With No Name replied to ykX's topic in The Lounge
Douglas built the DC 3, actually. I kind of prefer more modern aircraft like the 777 and the A350 to the 747 for a number of reasons.- 18 replies

Back to cars...i wonder with a glut of inventory of both Camaros and Msutangs as of late if the market will at some point take a sharp turn away from pony cars. I have 5 children, aged 15 to 26, and know personally many of there friends. There is very little love for pony cars among the younger set methinks. I could be wrong though. Would love everyone's input on this.

Latest purchase: 2015 Chrysler 200S
A Horse With No Name replied to 2QuickZ's's topic in Member's Rides Showcase
Congrats on the new ride and glad to see you back. Thinking of buying a lightly used luxury car myself for the next whip. Many happy miles to both you and the 200! -
Interesting enough question. I sold off every domestic car I had after we invaded iraq. I owned five at the time... Ford Ranger for a work truck, GMC Safari fora family car, a Chrysler Concorde for a personal car, and a 55 Chevrolet 2 door/71 Chevelle for weekend Toys. All of those went down the road (literally) and the four cars I have purchased since then have been a Cooper S, Miata, a First Gen scion xB, and a TDI Jetta. In my experience old line Union households tend to buy American but the are now a small minority of people who vote Democratic. Most of my conservative friends drive Imports, as do most of my liberal friends. Move this post to politics if need be as a response...

Let's change the discussion to sedans....i want to buy a Sedan to replace the Jetta when Vw buys it back. Made a list of every sedan built from the Sentra to the C class Mercedes, and I am finding major things I dislike about every single option. Every single frippin one..... Maybe I can buy real estate on Mackinaw Island where cars are not allowed....

...perhaps Wings daughter and son should learn Chinese. Given how the deficit will bloom, and given how the auto industry will go into the tank when the economy tanks, it is not unreasonable to think that GM and Ford will wind up in Chinese ownership when we can't afford to bail them out again. Enjoy cars like the CTS-V, Continental, and 300 while you can...when the Chinese own the US auto industry, we will be enjoying Luxury cars that are first and foremost designed for Chinese tastes in a Chinese market. Posted before I saw this, excellent.

...and speaking of Watergate, I think this election strikes me as Nixon Vs. Warren Harding, with Clinton playing the part of I am not a Crook Nixon and Trump playing the part of the popular but wildly corrupt Harding. As one who openly advocates the trial and imprisonment of both candidates, all I can say is Americans get the government they deserve for this one.
-
I grabbed Oliver my cat on the way out the door this morning...he did not even see it coming.... We have not cared about holding people accountable to the law for a long time in this country. I actually miss Watergate and Nixon, when people still actually felt outrage at being lied to.

Did not know you had the SH AWD! Makes sense for a Canadian winter. Like the idea of FWD here in Ohio. This is Horse, had my wife sign me out of social media as I want to detox from not only the election but some other things going on. Thanks for responding, your response was thoughtful. Interesting that you see Oldsmobile and Acura as being similar, I do also.
-
Agreed. In some ways I consider myself liberal and in some ways conservative. Mostly I just want the government not in my life in ways the do not need to be. Telling citizens who can love some seems like a really crappy thing for the government to get involved in.

Not sure what combination of cars I want. Also thinking of buying a cheaper used family car to replace the TDI and putting more money into a fun car. Miata and BRZ are still at the top of the list. In that scenario I sell the MINI, which is paid for... And if anyone is wondering why I am posting under my real name rather than the Horse handle, I had my wife sign me out of all of my social media accounts other than one woodworking forum. Told her not to give me password for awhile. Trying to detox after not just the election but trying to avoid dealing with several issues friends are facing at the moment on Facebook and Twitter. I like that also. The styling on the entire Honda lineup I find amazingly unattractive. With Acura, it is less ugly enough that I could consider it.

Back to cars, wish the TLX came in more colors. While I would rather cross the Pacific in a leaky row boat than admit that Wings was right about anything...I do really like Lincoln's colors. Some quality thought went into them... The Miata has the same issue with colors. At least the BRZ comes in world rally blue..WRX looks good in WRB also. Also, thanks to everyone for letting me come in and rant.

I am inclined to let people figure it out for themselves. If they are intellectually honest more than enough evidence exists for his character. Notice that my position is that HRC would be better from a policy standpoint not that I am defending her personally. I have a professor at the University I work at with whom I enjoy chatting with and grabbing the occasional lunch with. She wanted me to go with her campaigning for HRC. It was interesting explaining to her that the Clinton campaign probably did not want a volunteer who saw her as an active and unindicted war criminal. To actually defend a moral conscious for either candidate is beyond the pale IMHO. Which candidate should we defend, the one who is killing 13 year old girls with drones or the one who is possibly facing trial for raping a 13 year old? As the father of a teenage girl, can't really imagine allowing either to happen to her. End of political rant...just very tired of people trying to rationalize either candidate as a really good choice. Three years from now when the economy is in the tank and Trump has not fulfilled his economic promises I do reserve the right to come back and troll you who voted for him unmercifully.
-
Then dammit let's get back to cars. Not sure what I am going to buy when I replace the TDI. Feeling an odd, irrational attraction to a TLX or a TSX. Preferably gently used, although 30 k new is not out the question.

I can respect your paradigm bud disagree with your assessment of the situation. Also want to make clear that I am no apologist for Clinton. She has major issues without a doubt. Overthrowing a sovereign government in Libya and allowing ISIS to take root there during her tenure as Secretary of State would be a good example. We will see what will happen. In the meantime I will continue to investigate legal emigration. Ireland again looks promising in some ways. Trumps tax plan is a massive wealth give away to the rich, something that failed under Bush. Millions of people will loose health insurance, which means more people will die from easily treatable diseases and issues than died in 9-11. We legitimize torture and the killing of civilians in electing a man who advocates that. We elect a man who says it would be good for MORE countries to have nuclear weapons. We elect a man who lies about climate change, an existential threat to our species. We elect a man who by example says that sexual violence against woman is acceptable. We elect a man with horrible personal and business ethics. And the list goes on At this point, I will not be buying an American car to replace my Jetta, drinking beer from a mainstream American brewery, flying the American flag in front of my house, cheering for American teams in the Olympics, or anything else of the like. I have an American flag on the roof of my MINI Cooper S that the previous owner had put on in a vinyl graphic. It will be going into the body shop to have that removed fairly shortly. Pretty much disgusted at this point. This will probably be my last post here for quite awhile. This is a forum designed for people that love and want to promote domestic automobiles, and that part of my life is pretty much dead to me now. It's been good guys....

I am opposed to illegal immigration. Also wildly opposed to Trump and the current direction of the country. The nice thing about this election is that the bigotry xenophobia and irrationally were clearly on display and that is what we chose as a country. I for one am done with being loyal to the United States emotionally and otherwise. This has been coming for a long Time. Yes, Trump is democratically elected and that is a symptom and not the real problem. You are more than welcome to tell me not to let door hit me on my add-on the way out...but if I could move to another western Democracy..I would. Given citizenship elsewhere, I would gladly walk into a United States consulate had them my passport and renounce my US citizenship. The only bad thing is that the government has raised the price of renouncing your citizenship to $2450 from about $600. Would gladly pay it though.

Kia News: Kia Adds A Bit of Spice for 2017 Soul
A Horse With No Name replied to William Maley's topic in Kia
Actually a decent summary. One would think you had actual experience with the vehicle with what you wrote. -
Totally agree. Ohio State is over rated IMHO. I thought Nebraska would beat them but they blew them out. Michigan should be a whole nother test though. Clemson seems to be struggling a bit and IIRC their quarter back is going pro. If anything I think I would like Louisville to get a shot at the playoffs. Emotionally we are inherently thumb suckers here. Now that we cannot endlessly bash Toyota and dashboard plastic we have to have something to inflict misery on ourselves.

Ohhhhhhhhh I can believe it. Given the insane current stupidity of our country...it ain't gonna get better!
