  1. Love it, well overdue for a refresh.
  2. As I said, VW is if anything irrational in its corporate thinking. They are at once both too conservative and too radical. They let existing designs wither on the vine and treat the North American market like a red headed step child. And at the same time they invest a kings ransom in Bugatti to make a point and sell a few hundred cars. This is why I have been bullish on the long term strategy of GM-I think GM is thinking more clearly than anyone else right now. That being said, yes bring the damned van!
  3. http://www.sfgate.com/business/article/Paul-Alioshin-key-worker-on-Apple-s-iPhone-9237921.php Sadly....
  4. I do not understand why someone cannot love a variety of vehicles. I love Asian, European, American, vintage, modern, the gamut..... ...and also, he says in his post that he is spending a silly amount of money on fuel....400 a month in fuel savings is nothing to sneeze at.
  5. Could you imagine how much money you could save in a year if your operated a fleet of these? Huge is an understatement. My sister and brother in law run a catering company, and they sue vans and mini vans to deliver. Their fuel bill is enormous....with the Bolt they could cut out an enormous amount of their overhead. Or think of being a Taxi operator with a bunch of cabs in NYC....what would your fuel savings be. Not to mention everyone's lungs at loading docks, if delivery vehicles were Bolts or Bolt esque. From a corporate philosophy standpoint, GM is probably the smartest operator in the business. Not that they don't make plenty of mistakes, but they are getting it right in comparison with all of the other players.
  6. FCA is sort of like VW, whom I love...some great ideas, but they are incapable of acting rationally or having a rational marketing strategy for a full line of products in the North American market.
  7. Me too. One can hope VW survives and thrives and decides to bring some interesting iron over ehre.
  8. Please! Considering they are not investing in anything like Hybrid or battery tech, yes....that IS their long term survival mode...survive for another decade or so and hope like hell someone buys you for your engineering base and manufacturing capacity. If not sooner. Too bad, they are a fairly innovative small company in their own way. Japan does not have the same level of ethical concern in many ways that the United States does. As much as I am disgusted both political things that are done on both sides of the aisle, there are real ways in which our country still gets it right.
  9. The gentleman you acquired this site from is picking them up dirt cheap from time to time at auction with very low miles. I don't know of anyone who has obtained one that has not sold it back via lemon law or traded it within a few months. I have to be careful about being too negative about FCA products, as I previously upset another member here and I do not wish to bring negativity to the board. At the same time...what on earth were they thinking?
  10. The Civic Hybrid battery life was dismal. I have lost a lot of the respect I once had for Honda. Prius the older generations may drive like crap but they routinely pull three hundred thousand plus miles as Taxis in NYC now that the Crown Vic's are gone. The seats fold flat in the newest Prius making it almost a vehicle you could sleep in if pressed to do so. Interested to see the actual interior layout of the Bolt. Think it will be really well designed and functional.
  11. If you are thinking of a 500l for your mother one can hope that you were adopted and for some reason don't like her very much. The 500 Abarth might be kind of cool, and a 4C might be an interesting part ofva car collection, but the 500l is misery on wheels.
  12. It can haul people over six foot in the back seat, something that cannot be said of the Volt. Big reason we went TDI rather than Volt was I have two sons whoa re about 6'2 apiece.... They can have their opinion, but it (current 4th generation) is miles better than the previous version.... ...and it is only going to get better with time, hopefully.
  13. Agreed. I drove one and quite liked it. The salesman who showed my wife and I the Prius at the local Toyota Store was 6'11 1/2. He looked very, very uncomfortable in the front seat next to my wife, who is all of 5'3 or 5'4.

  15. Depends on your personal needs for the automobile. And eys, Volt is VERY much on my radar.
  16. Ford had a lawsuit on the Cobras back in about 1998 when they actually had to bump the horsepower up to match what was advertised.
  17. Unreal in that the p85 and p90 have been beating Hellcats on drag-strips. How insane is insane?
  18. This is already in the works, VW is betting on Electrics big time after the Diesel Fiasco.
  19. Now if we could just convince VWNA of that....but since when has VWNA done anything that seemed rational? AWD would be awesome!
  20. Yes, despite my sarcasm I really would lay down coin for one.
  21. Ford is behaving very rationally, not something I can say about every car maker. Again, I would love it as a sedan and adore it as a sport compact, I am very interested in seeing what itineration this brings forward in the future.
  22. Nice!
  23. It came in one of VW's many periods of existential angst as an automotive manufacturer. You need to remember that people who love European cars universally suffer from Stockholm Syndrome. http://counsellingresource.com/therapy/self-help/stockholm/ That disorder where you show affection towards the one abusing you. ...which might also explain why people love certain products....from car makers like Mercedes Benz for example...
  24. That would make two of us,actually.
