  1. Given Teslas shaky financial status, the Bolt and the Fisker are both huge. I seriously am beginning to doubt we will even see an actual model three built by Tesla-he is hemorrhaging cash at a prodigious rate, and the merger with Solar city does not help matters either. Thankfully, we have GM and Ford also. They have both driven a model S, taken it apart, and driven it again. They have the battery technology to start building an assortment of affordable electric cars any time they want, which should be in the next ten years with multiple models from both of them.
  2. Right, because that philosophy worked out so well for the Chrysler 200. I do think that you have hit on the biggest issue it did not sell though-we lack good paying jobs in this country that we need to sustain the kinds of choices we as Americans want.
  3. ...and they seem to be selling to very happy customers. Every owner I talk to here in Ohio just freaking loves them.
  4. Nissan Sold 2,000 trucks....guess they should be segment leaders about any time.....lol...
  5. https://www.transportenvironment.org/press/dieselgate-1st-anniversary-all-diesel-car-brands-europe-are-even-more-polluting-volkswagen Everyone else was far worse in what they put into the air in Europe than VW. Everyone....
  6. Not much of a distinction IMHO. That being said, I do find BMW more appealing than Benz, especially the MINI lineup. But I am an odd car buyer.
  7. GM is holding quite steady and has been in business steadily building cars for a century or so. Do you not think they understand the market? Also, see the BMW sales for the month, they have lost their mojo. GM is not Jeep. One could just as easily criticize Porsche for not having 7 SUV's....different strokes for different folks. I used to think that, but a small SUV might be kind of cool. i really liked the Bronco in the other thread, and if Chryco ever got it together on the Renegade I would be in their showroom ready to sign....
  8. Regardless, I would take an STI all day long over this civic. Honda is just one more car maker that has lost their mojo methinks. I thought the Honda fanbois had gone the way of the DODO bird until a bunch of older Civics showed up at an autocross a couple of weeks ago. Unreal.
  9. Import them from Germany and charge thirty grand more, he might be impressed. ...and even holding steady when a lot of other people are down is an achievement in itself.
  10. Dated and not good to begin with. At least Lexus has decent build quality and resale to go with their somewhat odd styling. But BMW resale gets as bad as Benz. My son looked at a clean 2012 BMW M5, clean Title, like 80,000 miles....they wanted $12,500....on what was originally a very expensive car. $12,500 will buy you a 2012 Malibu or Sonata with lower miles....but is in that ballpark. Lots of BMW and Benz products run through the Ohio auto auction at absurdly low prices. Repair costs and reliability have a lot to do with it in both cases.
  11. Cats methinks are often smarter than humans. You have my deepest sympathy. Now go to a vintage truck show before that awful image burns itself into your brain and you are more damaged than you already are. Which is sort of saying something, actually.
  12. Again, weak passenger car sales from a weak lineup. Rouge is decent, Kitano is overwhelmingly overpriced and outclassed in its segment, as is the Maxima.
  13. 103 500L sold nationwide....Ram and Jeep doing well....but painful to look at regular passenger cars or Fiat n any sort of sober or unmedicated state.
  14. Dismal, and may actually never improve substantially. VW will never change their internal corporate culture any more than Lucy will let Charlie Brown kick the football. And both will have a similar result...being flat on your back and looking stupid.
  15. Miata is the only thing gaining sales volume and the rest of the lineup is down....not good...
  16. 1LE is an excellent choice as well. Were we to bend the rules and allow six cars....hmmm...the new Camaro styling also really does it for me. I liked the fifth gen but the current car...yowzers. Almost E type Jag levels of gorgeous.
  17. Ohhh absolutely yes. Thank god GM is in the clear of this mess! ...although I think I should be thanking the invisible flying spaghetti monster for this....
  18. Agree completely. Part of my Mustang fetish comes from this dealer in 1971...We got a new Country Squire wagon that was blue....there was a blue Mach one in the service bay next to our wagon when we picked up our nice new wagon. I am the same way. I have a regular independent mechanic who works on my cars and he is a bit of a hike but worth it. And for dealership service, i sue a dealership on the far side of town, as their service is excellent. The dealer nearest me is god awful. My former boss Eric had to show them how to use their alignment machine to get a proper alignment on his teenage daughters car. They were literally clueless on how to operate their own equipment. One reason that I am thinking of buying a used Luxury car with my next automotive purchase. The bar really is set much higher.
