And there are other issues with Tesla as well as long term financial stability. GM has a large dealer network and a much more developed engineering department for two things. It also has a much larger base of established buyers whoa re sued to and comfortable with its products.

Absolutely without a doubt correct. I have no doubt Tesla will tweak the styling, I am more concerned about the long term financial viability of Tesla. the important takeaway here is that GM is on the right track in offering this vehicle. The range on the Bolt is a game changer. Nice to see GM in the lead on this.

Of the two the Camaro woudl interest me the most, but I much prefer the Camaro as a coupe. I have no bias against convertibles, but with both the Camaro and Mustang, the proportions of the current convertible seem slightly off visually. I am kind of glad in a way that the MOPAR boys have not followed suit and built a Challenger convertible.

...and it is just gorgeous. Much better than the Benz roadster we just featured, which looked busy and fussy. This is very clean and elegant...I love it! Chris

Golf 2 door is dead in north America

I would prefer a 4 door and from a manufacturing sense, it probably is a logical choice. In a very real way, yes. -
The Mercedes-AMG GT, Now Roofless!

Meh...the Mb thing just does not do it for me. There are so many other cars I would rather own for the money.- 7 replies

Thanks, not sure how I missed that!

The touring car masters is an Australian vintage series that sees both American and Australian iron....can you tell I am a bit of a pony car fan? My handle here used to be 66 stang. ...and glad to see the 1LE name plate live on....I have seen a ton of older 80's era 1LE cars in SCCA competition in the past, was a very neat package. GM is doing a lot right at the moment. I would love to have seen an Ecoboost 4 in the LL challenge.

Ohhhh yes! I tend to be really non judgemental on cars when it comes to specialty stuff. Too many good friends with Vipers and way too much fun with these cars for me not to like them. Latest Camaro i think is downright gorgeous. Off topic, but Domestic goodness galore in this clip....Amy Ruman is a personal hero of mine, she is one hell of a Corvette driver, and I love road racing. ...and the challengers look completely bad to the bone on a road course...

Not to mention our stuff just looks so damn much better. Which would you rather drive...BMW or a Mustang, Cadillac, Viper, or Camaro? I watch SCCA Trans Am re runs all of the time on you tube, nothing like American iron driven in Anger!

Trailhawk would be awesome, but yes YouTube is full of horror stories about these. I would prefer a basic Renegade with the 1.6 and the manual, but alloy wheels. Not really into most of your other choices...only two "micro" cars I like are the Fiat 500 Abarth (most of the people I know that bought them sold them back under the lemon law) and the Fiesta ST. Like the Mitsu Evo, drives fantastic but the economy car roots show through...kind of like the girls in the eighties, with bleached blonde hair and black roots....it's really freaking obvious.... Look at the bright side, he never keeps a car long enough to have to wash it....

Exactly....at some point the mechanical simplicity of electric has to be a major selling point. Especially now that they are talking about gas cars having particulate filters and even more complex emissions systems.
-
With electric, one could forgo the mechanical transfer case and be much more mechanically simple....looking forward to the three....I could see myself getting into a Tesla 3 quite easily.

Quick Drive: 2016 Nissan Altima 2.5 SL

They had numerous other issues in the 2009-2014 cars (2012-2014 Passat sued a different system that did in fact use urea). DPF filters and High Pressure Fuel pumps are just the start. had they walked through the front door in 2009, they would have a huge loyal following. But the real problems started when High Pressure Fuel pumps started imploding....which was an $8000 repair when you went to a VW dealer because you basically sent shrapnel through the fuel system. AWD seems like it would be a natural match for an electrical powertrain....look at how well it works out in the Tesla, which IIRC is all wheel drive, right? They got really greedy...although cars built in Mexico are quality wise supposed to be just as good as the cars from Germany.

Quick Drive: 2016 Nissan Altima 2.5 SL

I do like the styling and the interior Materials in the 200 better than the Altima, and the information system in the 200 seemed better to me also.- 16 replies

My experience was not quite that negative.....but the Malibu and Fusion look very, very polished by comparison to either the Altima or 200.- 16 replies
