Sorry to hear the Malibu Maxx is giving you issues. If your going to buy a foreign car though....and don't want GM...take a look at the "Euro" Ford Focus. Great build quality, domestic, and will run circles around a Sentra in terms of design and build quality. Not even on the same planet close... And by Euro focus I mean the one ford just came out with. I am thinking seriously about an ST version for myself at some point...NEAT car.

ATS Results are in and They are Good Very Good!
A Horse With No Name replied to hyperv6's topic in Cadillac
smk....here is a word of brotherly advice... If your interested in something non GM and a little bit exotic, none of us will look down on you if you buy it. However, and this is a BIG however...set aside extra for repairs and maintenance. It's what we did when we bought our MINI. If I were worried about the most reliable car, God is my witness I would have bought a Cobalt SS. Actually, we still may buy a Cobalt SS Turbocharged, as I would like to put another American car in the stable to go with the Asian and Euro car. But seriously, if you want a Jag that bad, just go buy the damned thing. Just be ready to spend when it needs $$$$ Oh ok. The Malibu seems like a refresh of the current, even if they did change a lot under the skin. And I like many other cars in that segment more. The Impala having only to deal with the Avalon, Taurus and perhaps Dodge/Chrysler rear drivers should have more success. The ATS I think will hit the right spot also, as long as the inside isn't too small. The German trio pretty much own that segment, the ATS can rocket right past Lexus, Acura, Volvo, Infiniti, etc. Again, I respectfully disagree. Volvo is wildly under rated as a car maker, and they have improved their quality and design. I would buy a Volvo before I'd buy a BMW. -
Absolutely...like BMW they have sold their soul on the alter of pure volume, and they are as bland as Mazda in their current product lineup. The newer VW sedans are actually crushing the previous models in sales for one particular reason: They're less expensive. The newer VW sedans are actually crushing the previous models in sales for one particular reason: They're less expensive. This is true, and for people who don't care much about what they drive, and who will trade out before the thing is out of warranty...not a bad choice.

It's a bargain but still beyond what I can afford. Now if they had a V6 handling package like Ford does for the Mustang....hmmmmm....

Didn't like it in the Sentra, drove it in another car and was impressed....

Good luck! Several years ago, when I was buying the Miata I was also thinking about building a mildly modified S-10. Looked at a second gen S-10 that was that color....neat truck. Keep us posted, dude! -

They did. And we can't have it: They did. And we can't have it: ...and ironically...I would have traded in the Miata for this rather than buying the MINI Cooper S had the Socorro been available. VW screwed themselves out of one sale (me and the Mrs) by not having this available stateside... -

I keep telling people that all is not well at vee dub...this just kind of proves it... Flying out of the showrooms yes, but they still have the worst dealer network of any car maker, and a huge number of quality issues. -
The Cool, odd and unusual car pics thread...

It's a fantastic looking car, and further evidence that the U automakers have gotten their mojo back. Love the pics in blue, thanks for posting them. -
It's a nice car...but trust me, the build quality on the Verano I drove was eleventy billion times better. And agree with Dfelt, there is no excuse for poor build quality.

I love it. I remember lots of wagons being raced as a kid... Now if I was only into drag racing rather than road racing and auto cross, I'd be a set....

VW News: What Is The Timeline For Next Golf?
A Horse With No Name replied to William Maley's topic in Volkswagen
Would be a heck of a car if VW could get its reliability problems into line. I think the bodywork will look sweet...but the repairs...not so much. Once again, methinks GM might be building better cars than some of their competition.... -
Maybe in some areas, but I never see those around... I see very few GM models in day-to-day traffic that are older than 10-15 years old.. It is funny but I even saw 2 different Citations in the last week. Barretta's are very common and they may not be pretty but they keep on running. I saw even saw a beat up Pace car one Saturday. Most old GM cars are the choice for winter beaters or first cars for high school kids. They are easy to find, cheap and easy to repair and keep on running and running. The guy I work with has a Grand Am that is on the original engine and tranny and will hit 300,000 this fall. Now keep in mind that we also live in the snow belt of ohio where they even salt the road when the sun is out and they are clear. On the other hand it is rare to see any Asian cars older than 12 years old. Most have rotted away or were more expensive to fix than they were worth. An very old Honda here is rare. Exactly.... And while I like Miatas and such... There are older Asian cars that seem to hold up around here though. Older Celicas were built like tanks. But then again, Toyota cheapened the product. We were pretty much given a 92 Celica for my son to drive (actually, one of his friends died and we kind of "inherited the car, sadly...). Amazing how much better built that thing is than the xB my wife bought is... And other than the Miata and a few Subies, most of the Asian stuff I agree is rather lightly built. I'm not even seeing very many first gen Mazda threes around here, and they are way newer than Beretta's...

Good to know about the Yamaha and the Ninja, my son is thinking about getting a Ninja.

They also have hugely worse build quality than GM...again, smk contradicts himself. -
I would agree, except here, a '74 Monte is certainly not rare. Chevy built 312K of them. • • • In a weird alignment of the planets, I saw -all today- AMC Pacer X, spotless, yellow with the factory mags, rolling, AMC Spirit 2-dr, dark blue, extremely dusty, on flatbed AMC Eagle 4-dr, 4WD, rolling. I think he was referring to the W31 Olds he was talking about, sir. Black Ferrari 360 was parked next to my work truck when I came out after a service call Saturday night.

...and I think you would be correct, sir!
