I've seen the Focus EV sales figures and resultant giant incentives. They're really knocking it out of the park with that one... HAHAHA. Thanks fer the laugh. Anyhoo, speaking of small Fords to spark one's interest... this has come back to the forefront... in Performance Blue or Green Envy, the 2014 Fiesta ST with 197-hp 1.6L Ecoboost engine and six speed manual... plus 34 MPG highway... Sonic RS who??? http://www.ford.com/cars/fiesta/2014/
  2. hyper give it up big man you are clearly wrong-o about the Code 130RS it is a fabulous distillation of so many widely-loved earlier Chevy cars yet it has its own flava. all the cool kids love it, of which i am one and i am always right. right?
  3. That's a damn fine looking machine you've got there. I was hoping you'd come in and share the news here, after the shocker photos over on a social media site.
  4. Well, hyper will be happy, that's gotta be a full 6' bed on that crew cab. And since we're talking about the new Grand Cherokee diesel in another thread, and how much Chrysler is going to try to rape customers with their $4500 price premium for the option to save money at the pump eventually after 37 years, I wonder if GM is going to bring the diesel version of this truck to the U.S., and if so... what's it going to cost us? I'm predicting a big 4 (probably not any of the current car engines, based on their strategy with the fullsize exclusive truck engines), and the 4.3 will be needed. Diesel is a wild card. We've heard from GM that one of the primary goals was to make this new truck very inexpensive to run. But purchase price plays a role in that equation.
  5. A question occurs then: how much have Europeans been paying extra for Jeep diesels in the past? I know just about every Jeep model, from Patriot to Wrangler to Cherokee to Grand Cherokee has been available with diesel power. I am under the assumption that Europeans prefer diesel, but how much are they required to pay over a gas model to tick that option box?
  6. Yeah... tiny, eh? http://blogs.cars.com/.a/6a00d83451b3c669e2017ee79d9cda970d-800wi
  7. Makes me scared of a theoretical Colorado diesel.
  8. That's rear-engine handling for ya. Corvair FTW!

    Thank you gentlemen.
  11. I admit, the idea of Mk VII Golf production going back to Mexico is less than thrilling to me. A Wolfsburg VW has a special place, imo. Even if there is not a statistical wit of difference in quality between German and Mexican Volkswagens, the feeling is there, based on previous experience. I know they've had a presence in Mexico for decades, and I am happy that they are helping Mexico's citizens (and Mexico's citizens are helping VW as well), and still it does not sway me. All of my Volkswagens have been Mexico-built. All of them had little issues that I like to attribute to assembly, not design from an engineering standpoint. I have an unwavering idea that something is wrong with Volkswagen's assembly process in their Mexican plant.
  12. Blue car takes away sweet Shoebox heritage. Me no like.
  13. Well I always liked the squared-off current GLK, it is elegant, imo. So glad to hear it will continue to be based on a RWD chassis. I wish GM would produce a 2-door SUV.

Lost my grandfather overnight. He was 96, and my last remaining grandparent. I'll miss him.

Pain management It said on your chart You awakened And we spoke Of country cabins Salamanders In the Spring House Your father-in-law And current events Winter cold I fed you ice cubes With a spoon Held your hand And rubbed your arm Softly. We said I love you And I gave a little wave A faint smile As I departed And you spent Your last night on Earth No longer able To fight the tide Carried away But forever I am A small part of you For JFW 1916-2013
  16. Some Spark owners are commenting at that video that they are beating the fuel mileage ratings on the highway. I wonder if they are traveling at 70 mph (out of necessity) while turning 3000 RPM (as stated by one of the commenters).

    Commuting

Solstice hardtop is one for the ages. One of the most beautiful GM cars ever made, imo, and that's saying something. One of those for the weekend would be most welcome, but it would need to be kept properly sheltered through the work week. When I started my new commute on December 10th, I had 9600 miles on the Patriot, now it's at 12,400 and climbing. Seems like a lot of gasoline bought, on roughly the same wages as when I was traveling about 7 miles one way to work. That's the core of my argument... it is costing me a lot more to work in York than it was in Lancaster... although I like my new job. So this is an effort to lessen the effects of the money drain associated with a 48 mile-a-day commute.
  18. Those are some nice photos, mystik. I agree the Chevy looks great.
  19. Consider my interest... sparked. I hope it's a 2LT manual.

When too many things hit me, I just default to the status quo. Maybe the Patriot should be the sacrificial lamb. Even though I'd like to get at least 10 MPG more on average, how much is it costing me? More than a down payment on an inexpensive commuter car? And how long would it take to make that down payment back and really start saving money? Things that make me go "hmmmmm....."

The TDI VW is an awesome vehicle, shirley. The model I'd get would be a 2-door Golf with stickshift... the cheapest available TDI, I think. I got a link in my email from Datsun today regarding their little Versa Note. Base S with manuel can be had with alloys and other accessories that would make it entirely liveable while costing very little to buy. Rated at 27/36 MPG with stickshift. 10.8 gallon gas tank. That's about 350 miles, give or take, of range, with my mostly highway commute. I'd have to roll up my own windows and use a KEY to open the doors though *gasp* The Mazda 2 is still a sweet little buggy. But something came into my mind's eye on the way home tonight: WHAT IF the new Colorado comes out with optional baby Duramax at an affordable price? 2WD/G80 locker reg cab LT Colorado Duramax would be THE BOMB... so mad it's gonna take another forever to find anything out about them.
