  1. Would it be any fun atall to line up a Taurus 3.7 and an Impala 3.6 to do the same commercial today?
  2. You'd think that Honda could sell a hybrid or full electric... but noooooo... Honda people don't even want that crap. A good sign that there are sensible people in the world yet.
  3. What don't you like about the Verano 2.0T, Rj? It's a pretty sweet (but expensive) machine.

    MKZ commercial

That's a nice looking Town Car in the ad, too, just before the last rebody that lasted until the end.

    Super Sonic?

Well I was comparing the Sonic to the Fiesta, not the Focus, but I appreciate the input. I was wondering about the 1.8L in the Sonic, power-wise. On a small car, I would have to have a manual transmission, no waiting for downshifts or upshifts there. Before I do anything, I want to learn all I can about the upcoming (March, per the '14 Fiesta website) 2014 Fiesta with 1.0L Ecoboost, and the Fiesta ST with 1.6 EB. Pricing and options on each.

    MKZ commercial

Yeah, honestly, Lincoln is catching a lot of flack for their Superbowl commercials... at a time when they NEED to get everything right. I do like the new MKZ... but their marketing efforts miss the Mark.

    MKZ commercial

This is pretty cool, except for the misleading "45 MPG" part.

    Super Sonic?

I was chatting with a girl I went to school with on Facebook this morning. Last year, she and her husband were looking to replace their Hyundai Elantra. They had been disappointed with the fuel mileage after being fooled by the numbers on the sticker, so I spoke up and recommended the Chevrolet Sonic. They ended up buying an orange Sonic LTZ 1.4t hatch, with sunroof and a manual, after testing it out for themselves. I was telling her about my desire to research a possible replacement for my Patriot, and I asked her for an update on their Chevy. Her husband believes there is a leak in the heater core... I am not sure of the symptoms. The radio stays on sometimes after it should shut off with retained accessory power. And this week, the seat heater quit. But she says they love it. They're pleased with the fuel mileage and all the nice features of the LTZ trim level. I remember my Fiesta seat height adjuster would not stay put, and I'd end up close to the floor after a week or so, unable to see over the dash. And the clock would lose 2-3 minutes per week. I wonder if the foreign tiny hatches are any better, or if I am being too picky. I mean, I really liked that Fiesta, despite the little issues on a first-year car.
  9. I used my red pen on THAT one, reginald.
  10. I'll be more excited when I see the BRZ version/perception is everything/Subaru heart under the hood.
  11. It prolly has about 500 miles on it, driven each Sunday to church. No matter what vehicle this system is in, it is a fatal compromise. JUNK.

    Making Trax

If given the chance, I would seriously look into a Trax after looking at the borderline unaffordable (for me right now) Encore. My most expensive vehicle was the 2010 Colorado, at $28k MSRP. It was affordable at the time, but no more, I'm afraid, if I were looking at it today. The Encore at $27k is right there with it. Desirable, but unattainable (if I use my head and not my heart). Trax would fit my current needs perfectly. It has a relatively lofty seating position, is practical and goodlooking, economical and affordable. EDIT : I just went to the Chevy Canada site and priced out a Trax 1LT AWD... $26,990 with all weather mats and cargo tray as the only options. Translates to $27,071 USD. Not as "affordable" as I envisioned. In other words, Buick Encore is not much more expensive than Chevrolet Trax, and it has a lot more equipment on it.

  17. Hopefully, this is NOT an 11.5 sec-to-60 MPH vehicle... rest of the review is good.

    Making Trax

Sigh... another cool vehicle we are deprived of here in the land of Baseball, Hot Dogs, Apple Pie and Chevrolet...
  20. Thank you Chevrolet dealers, for agreeing with what I've said about eek-Assist from the very beginning.
  21. After checking their website, I trekked into my local Buick/GMC dealer to check out the new 2013 Encore. It made me all googly-eyed... it's that cool, imo. In Brilliant Blue with Ebony cloth, it was a FWD Convenience model with the 5-spoke wheels. Very stylish. A bit nose-heavy in design, and tiny as heck, with big looking wheels (18" standard), it certainly has an attitude in its stance, with a beautiful interior. And it is not as "old" as it seemed in photos. How can it be described? Jaunty AND authoritative, even with its diminutive stature... it is a one-of-a-kind vehicle. Saleskid says it will be a 3-month wait for a factory order because it is built in Korea (booooo......) He will email me when he gets more in, next week sometime, he says. I did not sit in it or open the hood, but the hatch was open, and it has a very reasonable amount of room back there. I am very impressed by this little creature, and I predict it will be a hit for Buick. Equipped the way I'd want it, it will cost $27,490. AWD Convenience with winter mats and cargo tray. I should have taken my camera... but I had mom out in the Patriot (running with the heat on).
  22. Very happy to hear this good news. And THANK YOU again for your undying interest and dedication to Cheers & Gears.
  23. Looks like a Mitsubishi steering wheel, so I am guessing either a full-blooded Mitsu, or a Mitsu/ChryCo collaboration of some sort. That's all I got.
