  1. Oh no, I'm Xtra Too Sorry about that...
  2. That's why it strikes me as very odd, the Colorado was much higher than the Fiesta, and the Fiesta was higher than the Cobalt (barely).
  3. Chevrolet could not have paid 5 million dollars for a better advertisement for their Prius-crushing Duramax diesel trucks. God I hate her and her ilk.
  4. I've driven several high-powered Eco turbos, in Cobalts and HHR SS'.
  5. Good Grief, Charlie Brown. I just called Flo and she said my insurance would go DOWN $45 over the six-month term if I replaced the Cruze with a Liberty... or a Wrangler! I cannot believe I lulled myself into thinking a sweet, comfortable and quiet little sedan would be much cheaper than a 4WD Jeep, especially when the Colorado was so much HIGHER than the Cruze. This project just got a bit easier!
  6. Oh Em Geo, Camino, tell us how you really feel, will ya?
  7. Canadian Mercury trucks ran all the way up to medium-duty 700 and maybe 800-series.
  8. 2012 Yaris 2-door Sport.
  9. Please. An understressed DOHC V8 compared to an overboosted DOHC I4? You've got to be kidding me.
  10. Looks like a '58 Fairlane and a '68 Monterrey.
  11. I wish they were on the lots now. I think they're going to be really spiffy.
  12. Are you sure that's not the production XTS dash?
  13. I was drivin' down a 35 mph 4-lane road in the right lane on a sunny day in August, going about 25-28 mph behind a guy who was talking on his cell phone drifting along in a Chrysler minivan when I got impatient and went around him. Sadly I did not see the Dodge Nitro stopped in the left lane waiting to turn left at an unmarked intersection before making my lane change. I went under her right rear corner with my left front corner and totaled my 2011 Ford Fiesta.
  14. SNARF, those oreos sound goood.
  15. I knew that flourish around the door handle reminded me of something...
  16. dashes
  17. *Looks for "hidden" rear door handles* Buick Verano GSX, I like the sound of that. Just be sure to tack on a waterfall and ventiports. It's a good looking car and should be sold here. I'm digging the colour, too. The looks are trendy, if we're honest. The Golf continues in its evolution, but is not trendy, it is an icon of identifiable style. One reason why it remains at the top of the heap, saleswise. Can this Opel cut into that fortification with this fleeting beauty? Time will tell. And on the N* v. Eco Turbo power output question: these two motors will handle their horsepower in vastly different ways. The N* does it no sweat, no bother. The Eco does it in frenetic fashion. Appropriate for a small, sporty hatchback... totally NOT appropriate for a luxury sedan.
  18. When is the production version of the Xtra Too Sexy going to be shown? Later this munt?
  19. I was walking down the street by the Occupy Lancaster encampment (a whole nother story) today, when one of those Prius people mover things drove by. I nearly vomited it was so gross.
  20. I actually like the simplicity of the MKS dash. It has a minimum of buttons compared to so many other luxury cars. Simplicity is one of the things that lent the '61 Continental its classic status. The XTS dash looks a bit busier, plus it has some sort of dorky interface system that might not play well in Boca Raton.
  21. Had an appointment at eleven this morning to drive a Wrangler and a Liberty at the Jeep dealer. Salesdude smelled and looked like he partied way too hard last night, but he was decent otherwise. I'm surprised at how nice to drive the Wrangler is. The rear coils help a lot, I think. It rides much smoother than the Tacoma pickup I drove earlier in the week, actually. I drove a base model with tiny wheels and a soft top, 6 speed manual. The Pentastar is smooth and sprightly. It didn't take long for me to get used to the clutch operation... although I stalled it out once at a stop sign. The Liberty is also nice to drive, and very comfortable. I like the throttle set-up in the Liberty, it is deliberate, set up for off-roading where a jack rabbit start is not a good thing. It feels like a tank, a characteristic it shares with its much-lamented ancestor, the Cherokee. And it has a good-sized cargo hold for camping with the back seat up, something I can't honestly say about the Wrangler. MSRP for the two as I spec'd them is less than $300 apart, with the Wrangler at $27,200 and the Liberty at $26,915. Only thing I'd do to the Liberty is put a set of BFG All-Terrain T/A tires on it immediately instead of the crappy Goodyears. I also don't really like the silver 17" aluminum wheels and the white letter tires on the Wrangler, I wish a darker wheel and blackwalls were available from the factory for the Sport S model. One huge thing: Chrysler is giving $3000 back in a discount on the Liberty, and dealers are more willing to discount them in addition, whereas the Wrangler is selling with no factory discount and a smaller dealer discount. We did not talk specific figures today, but I'm pretty sure I can get into a Liberty for about 4 grand off MSRP. The Wrangler, I'll be lucky to get $1000 off. And then there's insurance... I have yet to call my insurance company with VINs for quotes. We couldn't do any real figuring today. My car is too new, so the sales manager is going to make calls on Monday and get back to me. If I end up doing the Jeep Thing, either way it would be a factory order, as there are none on the ground in the area exactly like I want. Then I went to the Subaru dealer and inquired about a 2012 Impreza 2.0i Sport Premium 5-door... hmmm... cute saleskid said he's getting ONE in toward the end of this munt, and a larger shipment next munt.
  22. I like a lot of things about the new Taurus. But the visibility out of the car is atrocious. The back glass is a slit to look through the mirror out the back of the car.. and what does Ford do? Put the 3rd brake light in the top center of the back glass, further blocking rearward vision. I mean, I like the idear of a high hip point, which in theory is supposed to help with visibility, but when you pair it with a super-high beltline, you're kind of nullifying any advantage you gained.
  23. RWD is as nature intended for car design... physics will not be overcome and made to feel right.
  24. J Lo who? So glad the factory didn't go that far.
