  2. Insurance adjuster came by today. It's official: I'll be looking for a replacement vehicle soon. The 5 month old, 6400 mile Fiesta is a total loss.
  3. Thanks again, all. No insurance adjuster out to look over the car yet. Hopefully it will be today so this can be settled and they can tow it out, I hate looking at it in that state on our lot. Left side of neck is still swollen, and I feel as if something's out of alignment in my neck/shoulders. Never been to a chiropractor before, maybe that's what I need. Blah.
  4. I vote Caprice.
  5. "Fascinating" is an apt descriptor.
  6. Thanks everybody. Yeah, this has been a nasty surprise. I felt a bit better today at work, being active. Sitting at home all weekend and taking naps made me feel worse, I think. Doc said moving around will help with the stiffness and soreness. He called it a "chest contusion" on my paperwork. My left shoulder and down the left side of my chest is bruised, yellow. Left side of my neck is still swollen, my collarbone area hurts, I have what appears to be a burn from the seat airbag on my left ribcage, and another black and blue bruise on my right hip from the belt. Like my poor car, I'm a total wreck right now.
  7. Two VERY comely machines. Made when everyone else in the industry followed GM. Gorgeous specimens.

  9. '73 Delta 88 convertible, a bit worse for wear in a horrid 80's-style aqua colour with tan top. Looked like it had been that long since a proper restoration.
  10. My insurance will spike like crazy after this. It will have to be something inherently inexpensive to insure. I've been searching for manual Fiestas, Foci, and 1LT Cruze manuals. Focus has had production interruptions due to a shortage in dash parts. There is one white Focus SE Sport hatch manual in the area, at the dealer I got my Fiesta from, I looked at it yesterday. Fiesta manuals just aren't around yet during this transition time to the 2012 model year. Surprisingly, one dealer in Hamburg, PA has ordered in a bunch of 2012 Cruze manuals... but that's a good distance from me... maybe a local dealer will trade one for me. We'll see. I'm getting ahead of myself, but trying to be prepared. If I knew all the numbers (like my new insurance premium and how much money will be left over from the Fiesta after the bank is paid) I'd be better equipped to make a decision. Ugh. This is not what I needed right now.
  11. It could be yours!
  12. From what I've read, yes, the new 3-door will be sold here. It looks pretty spunky with the Sport Pack, imo. Plus one million on the Fiesta 3-door...

  14. After this week, I am likely going to be in the position of having to find another set of wheels. Yes, I've had plenty of vehicles in my life, but this is different. This time I had no itch for something new. There is no kid-in-a-candy store feeling in me. No yearning for something new. Now it's just a matter of practicality, necessity, that brings me to this point. Under these circumstances, I am not likely to enjoy the process. I have never been in such a situation. I don't want to make a bad choice. Before this, I was thinking out a couple of years to a Gamma crossover, Cruze coupe, new-style Impreza Outback Sport, new-style GM compact pickup... vehicles that are not even out yet. But those dreams are wiped. I likely have to think in the here-and-now. To those who've been where I am, do you feel you made a good choice for your replacement vehicle after the sudden loss of one you really enjoyed? Maybe I'm approaching this from too much of an emotional angle, but I've been a "car guy" all my life, I love my relationship with my machine, and I enjoy researching, at my leisure, what comes next. Now I just feel like a widower, with my next vehicle being a "rebound" type thing. Any suggestions?
  15. I was on a 4-lane section of suburban road returning to work from lunch, behind a minivan. We stopped at a light. When we took off, the driver's speed leveled off at or below 30 mph, in a 35 zone on a clear day. I could see his hand up to his ear... he was on his cell phone, drifting along. I went to pass him on a broken white line... not seeing a Dodge Nitro stopped, waiting to turn left. Not even time to hit the brake, I whipped the wheel to the right too late. I hit her right rear corner. The left front half, including the door, is pretty much sheared off my car. Minivan driver grazed my rear bumper as I spun around in the opposite direction of travel and came to rest. Head curtain and seat airbag went off, but not the steering wheel, as the impact was outboard of my frame rail. Left side of bumper, headlight, hood, radiator support, apron, complete suspension, wheel/tire, axle, front quarter glass, door, hinge pillar are all beyond repair. Left rear door has damage from the EMTs prying my door open to get me out, plus it bounced off the quarter panel in the impact. Roof has a buckle at the left B-pillar... and the aforementioned rear bumper damage. What a hell of a mess. In the 5 months and 6400 miles I had the car, I was very pleased with it. Now I'm in a state of misery and disappointment over this. I'm trying to take the bad with the good in life, but sometimes it's hard.
  16. I hope you're maxin' and relaxin'!
  17. Fantastic machine, sir.
  18. Thanks, folks.
  19. I may as well say why I have blueberries on my shoulder. My sweet little ride appears to be a total loss after an accident this afternoon. I'm on high-powered Motrin and a muscle relaxer to help me through the pain.
