    You just triggered a memory of a dream I had recently. It was a short episode. I pulled up and parked my '81 Grand Prix, only it was painted an intense, bright red with blacked-out trim. I got out and looked, and there was a battered gray version of the same car on one side, and a light metallic blue one on the other, with air shocks on the rear end and aluminum slot mag wheels. That is all.

    It appears to have a lot of pearl in it, it looks purple on the leading edge of the fender... very nice.

    With the sporty Land Rover Evoke and Mini Paceman coming onto the scene as CUV "coupes", is it possible we'll eventually see a few 2-door crossovers back on the market from the domestic manufacturers in the future? A 2-door Equinox with a more rakish roofline, sportier, larger wheels and more power underhood would be a cool specimen. I'd like to see it, because if the bad days are truly behind them, GM needs to get back to producing some sporty, fun variations on their current offerings.

    I don't see a new El Camino being sold to business fleets. It will more likely be sold with upscale trim. That is why we need a new compact pickup truck. El Camino was not killed because of the presence of a compact truck. The LUV came out in 1971, I believe, and S-10 in 1982. They sold to different customers, and a revival would sell to largely the same customers as those of the earlier incarnation. The El Camino is not truly a work vehicle like a pickup truck is. It is somewhat utilitarian, to be sure, but with an emphasis on street style, not ruggedness.

    I'm confused as to how it could feel roomy in all dimensions (a veiled jab at the new Chevy compact), yet give the impression the roof is closing in on you and the seating position is too low.
