  1. I got to drive a 1964 Corvette today. Could not believe how civilized it was, with a nice clutch and an easy shifter.
  2. How many cars do you have? The Cav appears to be #46 out of FIFTY! What else are you keeping from us, uncle davey?
  3. humid
  4. Camino... daunting news. I hope it works out better than you expect. Let us know what's up.
  5. watt
  6. Thanks for posting that extra bit of info on the length of the shutdown.
  7. speak it
  8. Armani
  9. bleh... nah, I read the list of possible side effects on Wiki. I've had intermittent high blood pressure readings, and this HLT-6 stuff is shown to exacerbate it.
  10. Northwestern
  11. I kept it for one winter, backed (mostly) under a lean-to there on the farm, with a tarp over it, but that wasn't good enough for me. I sold it to a young guy in PA (I don't remember where he was from). I hope he took good care of it. It had 91k original miles when I bought it, and all the service records.
  12. Is it an Amway product?
  13. hairy nips
  14. vonVee, I can understand how that might be a concern, i.e., storing a totaled vehicle and selling parts off of it. But selling it whole to a salvage yard could yield a tidy little sum as supplement to your insurance check.
  15. Oh man don't get me started. Mine was a '65 Monza coupe, 110/PG, dark green/fawn. Sweet driving little car. I gave it up because I had no place to keep it out of the weather.
  16. Now see, that's awesome... it seems like double-dipping, though. To be able to keep ownership of the car AFTER it is totaled and the insurance company pays you its retail value?
  17. It was bought new, just like all my vehicles except for the Corvair and Impala. I traded it on a '91 S-10. The only issues I remember were... the drip rail weatherstrips kept falling down, and the shifter kept coming unscrewed, totally irrelevant all these years later. Other than that, it took everything I threw at it.
  18. I haven't seen the commercial, but if it is the shift LEVER, then of course the insurance company will want that, it is a saleable part of the car.
  19. That one has the same powertrain as my '89... 305/5 speed manual. Mine was tan on tan, reg cab longbed 4X4 Silverado with the rally wheels... just like those.
  20. Yesterday in the post office parking lot, a black, newer Volvo S40 being winched up onto a rollback truck from AAA... dude on phone, car would not start. Also, a CR-V on the shoulder, hood open, starter cranking, nothing happening.
  21. That 300 six would be at home in a tugboat, it just chugs along for decades. A real draft mule of an engine. You can't go wrong there. Be sure to check the condition of the fluids after a thorough test drive, though. Check the oil, make sure it doesn't have coolant in it. Check the color and condition of the coolant. Best to do this AFTER that test drive. Some ppl might put fresh oil in, thinking a buyer might check it before a test drive... I'd check it after the engine is good and warm. Justin Case. I was teasing about the running boards and stripes.
  22. Me too. Camping season is coming up, and I think I am up to like 146. Blah.
  23. Much too sporty with those corrugated aluminum running boards. The stripes are megaorgasmic as well. And look at those tires, you'd be "going commando" in no time with that truck.
  24. "Ahhhh, American society. We're f@#ked." ...and apparently, quite often. At least some of us. Sigh.
