DI should be put into every GMNA gas and diesel engine, imo... for power AND economy... if it can be done reliably and economically.

No doubt, CAFE has put a major chill on the whole industry. I am interested in seeing how Flex-Fuel vehicles will be counted... if ethanol can prove to be a nationwide, viable source of fuel to mix with gasoline... why in the world can't we have the Zeta RWD large cars we yearn for? Why can't Alpha sit under Cadillac, Chevy and its natural home, Pontiac, as well as Holden and around the world?

Compare Honda's slick little Fit (with an NG model coming soon) to the recently refreshed Aveo... no comparison on style, fun, or utility. GM has a lot of catching up to do if they are to have an array of desirable, tiny cars to prop up CAFE numbers so big-vehicle fanciers can have what they want. Imagine a Pontiac Firefly version of the Beat with 110 hp and AWD with 7 speed DSG gearbox.

Today's GM do Brasil lineup is mostly a potluck of redundant, tiny, rather non-descript cars from around the world and obsolete (by NA standards) small trucks. Decidedly Third World, imo. There is going to have to be a huge improvement in their lineup if they expect to have anything to appeal to Americans. SA is such a different world, both geographically and demographically... right now I am in a "wait and see" stance on this, leaning toward skepticism. The Chevy Beat is a cool tiny car, not sure where our Beat will be sourced from. Perhaps the NG Colorado/Canyon will be engineered there. Just like Holden with their RWD expertise, I guess GM has to regionalize their engineering power. I see nothing wrong with that, as long as a good percentage of manufacturing stays in NA for the NA market.

Sweet, it has a gun rack. :AH-HA_wink: I personally wouldn't mind the Montana being sold here (as long as it is an addition to the lineup, and not a replacement for anything), with a freshened-up front end and interior, AWD availability and a little diesel as an option, with 2.2 and 2.4L Ecotec power along as options as well.

I don't want to sound like Chicken Little here, that's part of the reason why one of my resolutions is to keep an open mind.

Yes, it's been done before, and it probably will be done again, but damn it, I resolve to spend less on a vehicle and more on my house this year. I resolve to keep my mind open. I am driving a Milan. I had to drop my truck off at work this morning, we were off today but sales was open, thank God. I have a bunch of electrical problems... warning lights, and so forth in the truck. Didn't want to do any more harm. Since I work for a Lincoln-Mercury dealer, I could get a hell of a deal on a Focus coupe as a stopgap... with my employee discounts, I could maybe negate any resale issues.

Man, I am waaaay behind.
