  1. Those fishing shots remind me of a movie. I forget which one.
  2. So far, The Weather Channel's website is calling for moderating temps and drier weather going into the weekend... upper 50's and partly cloudy Saturday? I hope that's right (or wrong on the cool and cloudy side) because I want to come to Carlisle.
  3. Turbo Powered Robust 2.5L diesel engine!
  4. Reg, no one is saying Pontiac should match BMW in price... where in the world do you get that idea? Some of us are just looking for something genuinely exciting to drive. For enthusiasts, RWD has a feel that is unmatched by even the best FWD chassis. This is a chance for Pontiac to really mean something, to stand apart. If the styling and hardware are there, coupled with affordable prices, there is no reason to believe Pontiac couldn't renew itself in a big way.
  5. You're one of them there funny boys, ain'tcha?

The joke is on the poor kid, Sanjaya. That's the bad part. He's really chasing his dream, though, and not afraid to persevere. For that, I give him kudos.
  9. Well, Lancaster is definitely bigger than Easton, MD, where I lived before, and traffic here gets on my nerves, but really, the city isn't very big... the suburbs are gigantic, however. It's really easy to get to my house from Rt 30, a pretty major route through this part of the state.
  10. To be honest, I'd be scared for him to make such a long trip in his car, with bald tires.
  11. Pennsylvania's a pretty big state. I think I went on Mapquest once and found it would take like 4 hours for me to get to Brookville... not quite a daytrip. One of these days. Viper, you could come down to Carlisle next weekend for the Spring Swap Meet.
  12. I think you're right, Custom-S. Just look at how poorly BMW is doing, with all RWD. I think we should write in and demand the next 3-Series be FWD.

    Car Talk

I get so sick of every damned NPR show starting out like this: "Brought to you by Toyota, and their Hybrid Synergy Drive..." *puke* After yesterday, I will not listen to CarTalk any more. I like some of the shows on NPR, but each week it gets harder for me to listen.
  14. I like the greenhouse on this LWB VM, but the sides are nondescript and the rear is too generic. The front is Buick in grille only. The interior is a knockout, however. I know GM (among other manufacturers) made a commitment a few years ago to improve their interiors... but is it to the point that the exteriors get no money spent on them? Maybe I'm old-school, but branding is still important to me. I love RWD as much as the next guy... but I prefer the Lucerne exterior to this. This whole "VE/VM Heard Round the World" approach makes me think GM's true, long range mission is to eliminate all of their proud brands and just keep the little "GM" logo on the door or fender as an identifier.
  15. For Pontiac, I say go all RWD or don't go at all. Keeping a FWD car in the lineup only dilutes the message. I'd like to see a four-seater coupe and sedan starting at $18/19k on Kappa II by 2010... but a full hardtop Solstice like the orange concept would be great to see, as well, starting at $18k.

    Car Talk

As if we don't have enough media bias to contend with... I usually listen to NPR (National Public Radio) on Saturdays, and sometimes I tune in to "Car Talk", a very slightly humorous show where people call in with their car problems and these two goofs, "The Tappet Brothers", try to diagnose them. They also use "humor" to convey some serious information and try to shape opinion. I was incensed yesterday to hear one of them mention some emails they received after a listener bragged on his "350,000 mile Lexus". They said they were sure there were no domestic cars that could go that long. One of the responses was from a listener with a '68 Buick Sportwagon with over 700,000 miles... they poo-pooed the story: "Yeah, but what you didn't tell us is that you've probably put 4 or 5 engines in it. If we can believe the caller, he has done nothing to his Lexus except drive it." This pissed me off. If anyone wants to check out their website, it's Cartalk.com. Here's a link to a forum discussion on "foreign v. domestic". http://www.cartalk.com/board/showflat.php?...e=0&fpart=1 Maybe we can shake 'em up a bit!

Hehehe... oh Lord, I can't keep this up. This has all been "tongue in cheek", in case no one knew. This Sanjaya phenomenon has just gone far out of bounds. And I don't watch American Idol, I've only seen him on YouTube. :AH-HA_wink:
