  1. The A-bodies RBB posted only share windshields, and perhaps decklids. The A-specials probably only share windshields. The F-bodies are most alike, they probably share the entire greenhouse, doors and decklids. None of them are rebadges. I love and appreciate Holden's contribution to the return of RWD at GMNA. Brilliant engineers, imo. But Pontiac is a brand that has historically held AMERICAN STYLE in high esteem. These Australian cars just don't look the part... and looks matter.
  2. So the rumors of its imminent demise were wrong-o? I'm a fan of torque, so this thing, while pretty in color, doesn't jingle my bells.
  3. I am against any legislated rise in fuel economy standards and lowering of CO2 emissions. I am against a gasoline tax increase. Increasing the tax on gasoline is no less sinister than these other wacky ideas. The people in Washington are shortsighted hypocrites... blatant hypocrites. It's all so knee-jerk... with no consideration for the repercussions. Americans do not want tiny, underpowered vehicles. This is a big country... this is not Japan. We have open spaces here. We need vehicles that can do the job. GM needs these RWD vehicles to rekindle interest and regain loyalty lost. It wasn't too many years ago I considered myself a Republican. I believe in non-intrusive government and fiscal responsibility... this president has turned those republican ideals completely around... and the Democrats are worse. They have NO ideas v. Bush's bad ones. HEY DC MORONS - LET THE MARKET DECIDE! STAY THE HELL OUT OF IT!
  4. Based on recent posts from you guys, I'm pretty sure you're going to have a good day. Just wanted to reinforce that. Enjoy yourselves!

    So Bossy!

    Chris:
  7. DetroitNut, there's a brand new, huge sparkling Wawa right on Rt 50 in Easton, MD. I went by it two weeks ago.
  8. Oh God, aaantoine, no. I said it because Philly is the City of Brotherly Love.

    Nos = Edward Scissorhands?
  10. I can speak for myself only... those vehicles were business-as-usual. The G8 is an attempt to revive the brand from the top down... the hardware is exceptional... but the look is not there. The look is the hook, and it just is not there.
  11. I will give props where they're due. GTO had some awesome hardware.
  12. Aww... I feel like I'm in Philadelphia right now... :AH-HA_wink:

  14. Its styling is vintage Australian... fine for them, great even. But it is removed from what is being done in this country now. That roofline could be off any number of vehicles... from a first-gen J-body to a last-gen 5 Series... it is generic. The horizontal bodylines... lack character. The blocky deck and severe, rectangular taillamps... no identity. The taillamps look Pep Boys. I love ribbed, horizontal taillamps on a Pontiac... but I also love the teardrops on a Solstice and G6 coupe. You have posted some interesting sketches of Pontiacs. I don't doubt you're a fan and you have good ideas. But think to yourself... would YOU have designed a Pontiac this dull? I'd like to think you wouldn't... at least I haven't seen anything you've done that's as bland as the G8. I am not asking for geegaws or blatant retro.... I am asking for the flagship of the brand to be recognizable and exuberant and hot looking. Take off the hood, bumper cover and the wheels of the G8 Concept, and what have you got? Invisibility. Not what Pontiac needs right now to regain cache.
  15. What's under the skin is wonderful and fully deserving to be a modern Pontiac (just like the GTO)... but the wrapper, THE most important part of a supposed "flagship", is dearly lacking essential elements... like excitement, distinctiveness and brand identity. Sorry bud.
  16. Viper, you'd better watch yourself. There are big boys at play here. Maybe you should study more before you spout your mouth off. You have bitten the hand that feeds. If you only knew.

  18. Oh, you and me both, brother. :AH-HA_wink:
  19. Yes NDL, I see from the pictures the trunk has a condensation problem, which means there is water in the (relatively) sealed area and condensing with temperature changes. Paulie, you mention seeing drips come into the passenger compartment. Water in a vehicle body can do magic tricks. It can travel from a surprising distance within the body and deposit itself elsewhere. Gravity and the motions of driving can dictate where it ends up. Water could be coming in around the windshield and end up in the trunk, for example, I've seen some surprising stuff when it comes to water leaks. The first things I would do are remove that trunk floor plug, and remove the soft trim from your trunk. It will be easier to spot the trickle into the trunk if the soft trim is removed because you'll have a non-absorbent surface to check.
  20. Well, some key things have been changed for the better with the G8. It's a sedan (still needs a coupe model in addition), it's available with the V6, and it will be priced lower. But low production capacity and the same design failings (anonymous, tepid, generic with a sparse sprinkling of Pontiac DNA) make it seem like another last-minute, half hearted attempt, which, to me, is a crime against the brand. The crow is a pretty small bird, I'll take a drumstick if I'm wrong about this.
  21. Damn, that thing is cool! The color, even the wheels. And by the looks of the hood, I bet it has something that starts with "H" under there. I'll take mine with CRD though, please.
  22. Olds Guy, didn't you post pictures of your car when you bought it? Isn't it Blue-Green Crystal?
  23. Did the gas pedal procedure reset your light? I know that was the procedure on late model B-bodies, but N-bodies had a button under the dash that needed to be pressed and held with the key in the "on" position. Some had the button behind the fuse cover on the left end of the dash. I don't remember the procedure on your W-body. Also, I don't believe the oil life sensor could measure viscosity back then. I was told it was just by mileage and time. Your owner's manual will confirm or deny that.
  24. Your water leak could be coming from so many places. The back glass seal, a body seam that has come open around the water gutter (the trough around the trunk opening), the trunk weatherstrip, the taillamp mounting area (the bolts are usually sealed with caulking, but that can fall away after so many years). Do you have standing water in your spare tire well, or it is just heavy condensation? Water could also be coming into the trunk from under the car while you drive in rain, if there is an open body seam or rust hole. If I'm not mistaken, there is a steel or rubber plug in the bottom of your spare tire well, the lowest part of your trunk floor. If you do nothing else, at least take out that plug. It will allow any standing water to drain, and allow an amount of air to circulate through the trunk and help dry it out. I would also take out the soft trim, which of course holds water like a sponge and quickens rust problems. Next warm, sunny day at home, leave the trunk open for a few hours. The sun and air will help dry it out.
