  1. I agree, Buick portholes on anything else look ghetto... but I was browsing the new issue of Collectible Automobile yesterday at Borders, and they have a fascinating article with photos and sketches of all the vehicles, worldwide, that outright copied the original LeSabre concept car. Who was it said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery?
  2. While I like the '75 (last year I think) Grandville convertible, that name, to me, is another nonsensical word cobbled together... perhaps they thought "Grand Bonneville" couldn't fit on the fenders?

  4. If they were "gauging reaction" for it at the G8 intro, they should have called more attention to it.
  5. Well, most FWD vehicles have a very short front wheel-to-dash length. RWD cars are opposite.
  6. Much like a CTS would with the same accoutrements. :AH-HA_wink:
  7. And what do you smell like, mister? *sniff sniff*
  8. Aw man, Mr. Fly, I am excited about this one, for sure. Pontiac DNA deserves a continuation, and this platform sounds perfect. I cannot wait to see what some of our artists come up with.
  9. Mr. Ven Seattle said it exactly the way I do. Uncle Bob is da bomb. He brings to mind the great automotive execs of GM's past... when they owned a huge market share and could do as they pleased. Of course, we all realize times have changed with so many brands being sold here, but I still believe in Bob Lutz and his vision.
  10. I am way more excited about this news as it relates to Pontiac... great, hopeful news for Pontiac (I am imagining an Alpha Pontiac coupe with 3.6L DI and forced induction as a strictly modern GTO)... but I think CTS should remain the entry-level Cadillac and not grow in size.

  12. A very nice update. Classy.
  13. The 300 still catches my eye, familiar as it is.
  14. Ah... Parisienne, Club de Mer, Bonneville Special... sweetness.

"Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn!" Which reminds me inevitably of the Carol Burnett Show: "Miss Scarlett, where'd you find that dress?" "I saw it in the window, and I just couldn't resist!" <--- classic television, right there.
  18. Well, Bob, yes, some of Pontiac's racing names have French overtones, but there are others. Let's see how many we can think of altogether: LeMans Bonneville Grand Prix Grand Am Trans Am Then you've got your California names (both of which have positive, "escapist" connotations, imo): Catalina Ventura Your "Bird" names: Sunbird (which also could be grouped with Solstice and Sunfire, as "sun" names) Firebird Phoenix Phoenix is sort of a blend between a bird and an Indian name, which brings us to: Aztek Star Chief Chieftan Banshee Then, a couple of "storm" names: Tempest Torrent GTO was a name borrowed from Ferrari, and we all know the Pontiac version took ownership of that name to where ppl hardly ever think of the Italian car, at least here in the USA. "Formula" to me always referred to a group of options, a "recipe" or "formula" for performance. Firebird, Sunbird and Fiero Formulas come to mind. All of these are WAY more interesting to me than... G whatever. Will they rename the Solstice the G2? Perish the thought.
  19. Damn, I just saw the picture. That's one hot ass.
  20. Pontiacs with racing venue names and California place names, and "sun" and "bird" names are my favorites. Alphanumerics evoke no passion. Too generic, there's just... no connection. Pontiac has, at least since 1959, been about romance, passion, and sensuousness. Will Solstice be the last Pontiac to promote these themes? Yes, G6 has the looks to tie it to Pontiac, but the name is removed. G8... just another pair of keystrokes. Pontiac has such a list of names that have meaning, that lend a purpose and promote a mindset... this "G" string of names flushes the toilet on heritage. Shameful.

Hmmm... he was in another movie about the South and civil rights, where he played a lawyer. I forget the title now...

Wait, wasn't Matthew Maconnahee in that?
  23. Oh, boo hoo, he's 27, almost 30. That's def a problem. Have a Happy B-day, Mr. Tones! :AH-HA_wink:
