  1. With 5k bid, the owner should take the money and run - the car isn't worth a penny more. Jeers based on price.
  2. Japan has never played by the rules, maybe it's about time that they start doing so.
  3. I giant case of so what. GME bleeds money like a stuck pig and has little hope of changing that while Opel continues to build cars.
  4. Opel-Vauxhall are smack dab in the middle of the worst economic mess going, that's where GM should be looking to shut things down.and get out. Holden, on the other hand, is proximate to the world's strongest areas of economic growth. Not to mention that Holden is the only part of GM that actually knows how to export.
  5. Once again, they go after the wrong brand.
  6. That's one question. The thing is, it will take years (if not decades) for the convulsions in Europe to stop. So, that begs the question - can Opel weather such a long storm? I very much doubt that in an environment of such extreme over-capacity and deep economic weakness. Opel hasn't much of a chance, I think.
  7. Opel derived is the key point. Production and subsequent export from Opel to the US is folly. Europe is a disaster and will pull Opel down with it. Time to cut those losses, I think.
  8. Opel = Buick. Got to have Opel to provide Buick w/ models... Nah, that was only for a short time while US manufacturing was set up. Opel is a cesspool of red ink in a dead market.
  9. Yes, Holden does more with less (the polar opposite of Opel). You are right about the lack of clarity in the article.
  10. Quite simply - no way.
  11. Holden has had the best selling car in Australia for many years running, they regularly beat-up on BMW in V8 Supercar racing, export globally, and are part of Australian culture. Opel, not so much.
  12. Yes. Love the long wheelbase and the bodylines that follow it. Looka like a stretched and chopped Coupe 60.
  13. Thanks! I like it - very Holden-like.
  14. I wouldn't miss Opel... It's an enormous money-pit.
  15. Interesting. How about a link to a larger pic?
  16. Looks like a photoshopped Holden Coupe 60...
  17. Wait... you're back at BMW?
  18. It isn't just the I-6, these cars just weren't all that good overall. Corvette was very lucky to survive its first few years - the later cars were so much better.
  19. Truth in advertising...
  20. Price is beyond the pale. To be honest, I wouldn't pay that much for a perfect '53. '53 and '54 Vettes were, well... a bit underwhelming overall. And though they have collector value, they really aren't good for much beyond a static display when restored. Jeers.
  21. Have a great brithday, you should.
