  1. Starting to get intense here now, just had several momentary brownouts. Wind is getting strong and the rain has been steady for hours.
  2. Just a few bands of rain and a bit of a breeze so far. Time to take the dogs out and enjoy what time I have left with electrical power. When it starts to get ugly, I'll post if the power is still on.
  3. Got the gutters I could reach on the barn and did various other prep yesterday. Today I just have to get some outdoor items stashed inside. And wait. Was glad to hear that the winds have dropped somewhat so the storm is now down to a category 1.
  4. I actually find this pretty interesting. Too bad the Monzas aren't earlier cars (they were much better looking).
  5. It's a Puke-up!
  6. It happens during most storms - but my 4x4s have always been able to get through the water. This time I'm not so confident about that. That dam may give way entirely if we get too much rain. I may have to use the neighbors' property to get out if that flood too badly or too many trees go down - but I'll get out one way or another.
  7. This right here is the main threat where I am.
  8. I'd leave if I could, but the old folks who own this place depend on me when this stuff happens. I'm stuck for the duration.
  9. All the best to you, Samadei! I too, am taking this one seriously - I have a bad feeling about it.
  10. Chainsaw at the ready here too. Our power goes out on good days - so we are doomed anyway. You've been down my driveway, so imagine if just a few of those trees blow over. PECO will not fix lines on private property, so it will be days before the power is back even if the main lines go back up quickly. Then there is the weak dam at the pond - I've been expecting it to give way in lesser storms... Gonna be fun.
  11. It isn't the rain I'm worried about, we are so water-logged already that flooding is inevitable. What worries me is the wind. Trees are already falling over on calm days just because the ground is sopping wet, any wind will be a disaster. Glad I don't live at the shore. Batten down the hatches Balthy, it will be bad here but you are closer ground zero. I expect days without power.
  12. ...I don't expect to be so lucky with Irene.
  13. Quite cool.
  14. Ford was notorious for not so good autos for quite a while. Still, it shouldn't fall on its face like that.
  15. Hmmm. The connection of the condition to being in overdrive has me wondering if something else is going on. I don't think it should lug in overdrive - miss or no miss.
  16. Cheesey
  17. Today and yesterday were flat-out gorgeous. But we get a hurricane for the weekend...
  18. I have had chance to drive all three in same trim level, albeit not back to back. Dynamically I will say Coupe>Sedan>Wagon. Solid Feel wise Wagon>Coupe>Sedan - thought coupe felt more solid, partly because of its staggered tire configuration. Wagon definitely has heft but is very composed. Speed wise Sedan=Coupe>Wagon. I am another wagon lover and I will not be car pooling in it. But the space and package it offers is far better than a bloated SUV. Then again the only true SUV with an emphasis on U for me is a Suburban, the rest are all pretenders. Those results are about what I expected, though an "all-V" comparo might be revealing. Agreed on the SUV front.
  19. I find that sort of appealing.
  20. Duly noted. If Arkus is anything like my father's Amstaff, you wanna think long and hard before putting them in a $60K+ vehicle for any stretch of time. Put it this way, he runs inside the Tahoe.
  21. I think it would be interesting to drive all three bodystyles of the CTS-V back-to-back and note the differences. It is a perspective on the drivetrain that isn't often available.
  22. Odd that you haven't had a sedan to drive, Drew. I wondered about the weight of the wagon - I expect it wouldn't make too much difference in V trim.
  23. I have, not a V-series. Any noticeable difference in driving dynamics vs. the other bodystyles?
  24. Olds, have you driven a CTS wagon?
  25. So the mutts can have fun too. I'd have to hogtie Arkus before I'd let him ride in any car I paid real money for - he's like a furry wrecking ball!
