  1. I did offer on the mod thing - no response there. A re-make may in fact be in order, but dumping the forums might not be necessary. Whenever something of note happens, we get long threads full of discussion. The problem is that not much noteworty happens much of the time. GM has been really quiet for some time now so there just isn't all that much to talk about. Perhaps the focus on "new" stuff is too limiting, maybe a bit more of older stuff within the brand forums would wake things up. I can think of plenty of other things that could liven-up the forums. - Remember when we did our trivia contests on a regular basis? - Getting the design forum to be a bit more active really helps too. - Most of all, more C&G-generated articles would make a difference. Plenty of other ideas out there, I'm sure. As for the politics forum, ther are only about a half-dozen of us who use it - so why bother with a restriction?
  2. Generally, I like all of those renders. They (if accurate), represent the best iteration of A&S to date in my opinion. I also hope that the profusion of bodystyles they indicate actually comes to fruition. And, not in GM's standard, long, drawn out, fashion - but in rapid order.
  3. Yes, pointless posting to reach a minimum - not what I'd call a good result.
  4. Attempting to increase postings in other areas by limiting posting in an active area seems artificial and pointless to me. Working to create a bigger draw in the rest of the forums would be a more logical approach in my view. It is a political time and passions run deep - that's just reality right now.
  5. I can't say that I like that pillar, nor the goofy skylights, but the overall shape of the wagon is very, very good.
  6. Lots of factors involved here. I would point to the lack of interesting cars entering the market and the tighter control of information on upcoming product as root causes. That said, many other things are contibuting factors. I do think that the 5 post minumum thing is somewhat absurd, and possibly counter-productive.
  7. When watching the images, it is the sheer scale of disaster that strikes me. All human proportion becomes quickly overwhelmed by nature's immensity. Imagine how small you would feel on the ground in tha path of such power.
  8. Stance looks good.
  9. Quite the nugget from the past.
  10. I've always thought that Chevy/GMC sort of traded-off with each update. Some years the Chevy looks better, some years the GMC (same with the SUVs). Right now, the GMC is the better looking pickup and the Chevy the better loooking SUV (fullsize for both). EDIT: Had to edit out the weird, freaky, double post within a post. First time I've ever had that happen.
  11. Thus the cloth, Ocn. Yeah Olds, it worked like a charm on the Maserati. Isn't that a problem after 4 hours or so?
  12. I knew this would be like giving firewater to the indians...
  13. Wow, that's just priceless. I'd use WD40 (and an absorbent cloth)

  15. Nope. What did it say?
  16. If that render is accurate, then yuck. The car-like nose, and weird body sculpting just doesn't work.
  17. Those FWD clowns need to crawl back under their rock.
  18. Name issue aside, seems like a strong entry.
  19. Exactly what worries me. That, and a need for speed...
  20. Sensible option. I've always tried to keep my distance from bikes though - I'm afraid I might like them too much.
  21. Well, Sprinter gets the gloss of the Benz connection while the Fiat gets the curse of "Fix-It-Again-Tony". Can they pull a Hyundai and price it low enough to make inroads?
  22. Not wowed by the look - but I'll reserve judgement until better pics show up.
  23. Whatever, Croc.
  24. Fuel economy will never be the deciding factor in my purchase decisions - no matter the price of gasoline.
  25. So? 1. Businesses are composed of humans. Humans are emotional (even if the emotional response is an unconcious one). Maybe these will sell, maybe they will not, but the emotional aspect will remain. 2. Europe is no indicator for our market. 3. Of course not, but I hope they reduce the ugly before they release these vans. You clearly have little insight into the experience of a small business owner. Does it fulfill my needs? How much does it cost to operate/maintain? How does it drive? Can I paint an effective advertisement for my business all over it? Can I service it conveniently? Is it reliable? Those are the questions asked by a business, NOT "Can I get it lower, longer and wider?" You clearly know absolutely nothing about contractors - read Balthy's post for a quick primer. Excuse me? As Balthy himself said, it is quite apparent these vans aren't intended for contractors. Or did you forget to read the "quick primer"? I'm actually quite familiar with contractors--I know a good number of them. More disturbing to me is your conflating of contractors with small bricks-and-mortar business owners, like florists, bakers, printers, caterers, etc. Is there a point in there somewhere? I've been a contractor since 1985, and worked for, around, and with contractors for even longer. The appearance of a work vehicle is an important aspect of living in that world. It is both a sales tool, and a source of pride. For a contractor, a good truck (van) is like a good tool - a bad one is almost worse than none at all.
