  1. Don't you just love how these guys always seems to have positions like this in their back pockets?
  2. I'm lucky to have a great relationship with the local Chevy place, everyone there knows me well from the owner on down - it's a priceless connection.
  3. I plan to find out if I can make a living in New England ASAP, I think I'm meant to live there. Might you have been thinking of Saranac Lake, or Jay, Or Keene in upstate NY, Cubitar? In California, I enjoyed San Luis Obispo and Monterey when I was out there. I also liked all of the spots I visited in New Mexico, though I'd never want to live there. Charlotte NC, is a fine place to be in March (especially coming from an ice-covered PA. WV is gorgeous, if a bit desolate.
  4. I had better stay quiet on this one...
  5. I used to do everything myself, but routine maintenance has gotten boring. So I let the dealership do almost all of that. Restoration and Project cars are all me if I have the equiptment to get the job done, otherwise I do my research and pic someone.
  6. Too bad I don't have the skills, because I can think up a recipe.
  7. OMG I remember that.
  8. I'll never forget it, I watched the news in stunned disbelief. No one who didn't live through the Cold War and mutual assured destruction will ever understand just how dramatic the paradigm shift that this event initiated really was. The entire midset of every adult or near-adult on this planet shifted irrevocably that day. A good friend of mine was there when it happened and brought home some pieces of the wall. I can't imagine what it must have been like to watch people take sledgehammers to the wall so they could drive their Trabants through the breach in pure triumph. The significance of this event cannot be overstated. It was a victory of humanity over its own stupidity.
  9. Ugh. Glad I didn't catch them, this sort of thing sends me into a rage. I really think I would hurt someone if I caught them pulling this crap. Sorry to hear this DF, time to move for sure.
  10. I'm with Samadei, it sounds like some oil passages are blocked. Oil should be squirting all over the place up and down the valvetrain. I'd pour in a can of motor flush, change the oil and filter, and see what happens. I've done this with success on older engines many times. On the issue of locating the source of the sound, grab a huge screwdriver (a really long one) and rest it aginst any suspect location. Then put your ear up to the end of the plastic handle- works just like a stethoscope.
  11. Hope it's a great day, Drew. Happy Birthday!
  12. Sweet! Then there is this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...%3D10%26ps%3D63
  13. My point was to look for stock when buying and do your own mods. Modded cars can be very bad buys.
  14. Not a good sign.
  15. Funny, but I guess you're right.
  16. Somewhere there are pics of that Stude in its original color - you'd gag if you saw it. My Dad had it painted shortly after buying it (new). Belive it or not, in these pics it is an extremely dark blue, not black as it appears.

Smooth, except for the huge bumper!
  18. Yes it would! I wish it still existed - what a unique ride!
  19. Now there's a difference, I see my relatives often and most are nearby.

  21. More ancient history:
  22. Good eye seeing it was a Travelall and not a pickup BTW...
  23. Nothing serious guys, just an idle comment. Balthazar: It's actually a '65 Travelall (and quite new in the pic). We had it forever. EDIT: Oh yeah, that's me (with a friend).
