  1. Sounds like sour grapes to me, PCS. Lutz doesn't need the cash, so something else must have sparked his interest. I will be waiting to see what that is.
  2. Hey Mouse, glad to see you here! Thanks for the heads-up.
  3. Well, something he didn't like is out of the way now...
  4. I knew you wouldn't like Lutz's new position, PCS! And I'll bet you have already guessed how I feel about it. It is the one thing going forward that gives me hope for GM. No offense, but it looks like GME's agenda just got derailed, and I'm pleased as punch.
  5. I should go drive a new Camaro SS again... just because. But the fact remains that given the posibilities exemplified by the showcar, Buick has come up very short in the desireability of production sedans. They can, should, and must, do better.
  6. On a Yoda kick, aren't you?
  7. Cool huh? I love the wagon.
  8. Would an admin please move this thread to the Projects Forum?
  9. Didya forget me, DF?
  10. Close call! Glad it was just the radiator, DF.
  11. WARNING: This will take hours to read and it will blow your mind! http://www.impalas.net/forums/showthread.php?t=686
  12. The bottom line here is that we don't have enough information to make any judgement of value. We should also remember that this car is under a microscope like no other - we will be examining every aspect of it far more than any other car on the market for some time yet. Hell, each of these problems is being tracked by VIN, and not just by GM - but by enthusiasts on the web! What counts here is the outcome of each issue and the level of satisfaction of buyers with that outcome.
  13. I'm willing to bet that you never saw this car in person - and that you'd change your tune if you had.
  14. Yup! Transverse Northstar V8, if I recall correctly. The use of the transforming rear section added huge utility to the design as well. And when was the last time you heard me gushing over the design proportions of a FWD? This car had elegance and class, and that's what I think Buick must be.
  15. There's that "we can't" outlook again! Seriously though, not an ounce of style or inspiration made it from showcar to the production car of the same name - they have nothing in common. Yes the concept was a full-on showcar, but it offered some innovative thinking and gorgeous styling: none of which has showed up at Buick in the nine years since it debuted. Not even the spirit was translated into a showroom version.
  16. interesting. Not enough meaningful information to make any real assessments though. Except that some transmission castings were bad.

  19. Fair enough. I will say that without something like the Riviera (or even better, the Velite) , I just don't see much there. EDIT: I do, however, remember the LaCrosse concept! Such identity and presence! Not for me maybe, but so interesting and individual, creative and innovative... so Buick that I will always remember seeing it in person.
  20. I can't say that I have a favorite, but I had an experience that I will never forget. I was attending a vintage race event in Virginia a few years back, and an airshow was taking place nearby at the same time. As I drove the hilly highway from the hotel to the track I approached one of the taller hills. Suddenly, a B2 crested the hill in front of me at a very low altitude - almost as if it had just materialized on the spot! It was HUGE, and easily the most intimidating sight that I have ever seen. Traffic was suddenly all askew around me as everyone became transfixed on the big, black monster in the sky. I took me a second to get my attention back to driving the truck. All I wanted to do was watch that thing!
  21. OK. Now do you see any of that "in the steel" at this point?
  22. Wow! Even I, am more tech-aware than that!
  23. OK, let me ask the question in a different way. What makes a given car a Buick? What is compelling about the brand? What is unique, or at least, interesting? In short, why a Buick?
