  1. I've thought this over, and I can't see this delay as anything other than a mistake.
  2. Well, change just one variable in the market and GM is still #1. For instance, fleet sales are way down at GM but way up at Toyota. Hollow victory. Still a horse race. Likely to be for a long time. The margin is tiny. Things change fast.
  3. Interesting. When you can afford to make mistakes, I guess it can easily become a habit.
  4. I know a few of these folks, trust me when I say they will do a great job.
  5. And no one even mentions the ZR-1?! C'mon guys Ummm, Firehawk anyone?
  6. Thanks for posting your information, Sandles.
  7. Easy guys, let the man alone. He has to deal with a possiblility that a car he has high hopes for won't be what he expected. Sound familiar?
  8. Simmer down kids, play nice. :AH-HA_wink:
  9. All the more reason why it matters on this car.
  10. It used to be that most 2-doors had roll down rear windows - hardtop or not.
  11. As far as purchases go, I did buy a 4th gen F-body. And I will buy at least one Zeta car. Will it be Camaro? Not sure yet.
  12. Hmm, well I hated the Charger then and I still do now. 4 doors = no sale for me. Let's see how this plays on CZ28.
  13. Another thought: If GM determined that, despite their best efforts, a hardtop simply couldn't happen, well ok then. But I'd like to know that they tried like hell to make it work before they threw in the towel. Reality bites, but slacking on any aspect of this car can't be tolerated.
  14. ... And one more thing: Trends have to begin somewhere, and I'd like to see some of them come from GM. If pillarless hardtops became a trend, then all would have to pay the cost of admission and we would get more beautiful cars as a result.
  15. Diaappointing news. I agree with all that Balthazar posted and I will add: - I don't see the big cost differential to do a true hardtop since this is a clean sheet design. - You folks are underestimating the effect this will have among the Camaro faithful, 68 will not be alone there. Don't kid yourself about that. - No, it wouldn't stop me from buying the car but it would always annoy me. Too bad really, a true hardtop design is beautiful by nature, much more so than a B pillar coupe. And glued-in rear windows just plain suck.
  16. Simmer down now, you twisties.
  17. What amazes me amidst all of the hype and headlines, is that no one seems to see this situation for what it really is: an old fashioned horse race! 90,000 units in one quarter does not a victory make, this race has only just begun. Stay-tuned.
  18. Since 2001, I have purchased 4 new GM vehicles. All were RWD or 4WD. In fact, every new vehicle that I have ever purchased has been RWD or 4WD. I have never, and will never, buy a new FWD vehicle. But I will be buying at least one Zeta-based vehicle. So I guess that makes your assertions incorrect, huh?
  19. Oh MY God! :rotflmao: :rotflmao: You are some kind of original, Ocn!
  20. Reg: What do you think we should re-name the thread?
  21. Man! Thanks for posting all those pics, it has been way too long since I last saw those ski jumps. Did you have a drink at The Back Door in Saranac? Is it still open?
  22. Fly: I sure am and I have no mercy for any frowny-face Taurus. Prime: Balthazar: Trust me, I'm spending lots of time in the barn. Ocn: It's good to have a lookout. PCS: You can add those things if you really want to.
  23. Of those listed, only the 5 appeals to me - though I'd rather have the previous model. Once the G8 arrives all of that will likely change.
  24. Would it surprise you that I don't disagree with the basic premise you lay out ? I might disagree on some of the size details and What we will likely have is Zeta and Alpha with Alpha replacing Kappa. Those two and the Y-car chassis will likely be it for RWD. But overall we mostly agree when looking at the big picture. Where we differ most is in the application of these architectures to the product mix. I don't favor any FWD for Pontiac and you do. I also don't think much of FWD being applied to large cars, I think those days should be behind us. I know you don't see it that way, but I wanted to point out the amount of agreement we can find this go-round.
  25. BTW: I know the lyrics to way too many John Denver songs. :AH-HA_wink:
