  1. I'm willing to bet that Balthazar's dates are correct for inline sixes, but way off for many with V6 engines. Pontiac, Buick, and Olds for examples.
  2. -Town Car - has to be Lexus or Infiniti - Maybach, Rolls, or Bentley
  3. The 4.3 injected V6 was offered in the Caprice all the way through the last of the boxy cars, 1990 I think.
  4. #5 has not been answered completely. -I'd say it was designed to compete with the Thunderbird. -not sure what the styling was based on, maybe Caddy. -The M/C shares much, much, more with Chevelle than its frame. They share engines, transmissions, widsheild, cowl, dash, even some interior and exterior trim parts. Essentially, the M/C is a Chevelle with different sheetmetal. It even shares turn signal lamps and front bumper with the El Camino.
  5. Good to know, but easily remedied by replacing the studs with longer ones.
  6. I don't give "hair" discounts. Thanks for the good wishes,Caprice. It would be nice not to lose too much on this car. My grandmother and Hitler shared a birthday (just remembered that). I certainly hope it's her that is with me when the car crosses the auction block and not him!
  7. Excellent! Blu: you better show, you're too close not to. :AH-HA_wink:
  8. Very cool!
  9. It is the weekend of the 20th (Friday) but I think the gates actually open on Thursday (not sure). I'll drop the car early and try to do my parts search quickly so I can just enjoy the rest of the event and hopefully meet up with a few of you characters. :AH-HA_wink:
  10. Umm, let me think, NO!
  11. Spring Carlisle is a good event and I'll be there to send the Maserati through the collector car auction (Friday at about 4:25 PM) and to hunt down some El Camino/Wagon parts. I will probably drop the car off on Thursday or maybe Wednesday, be there for the auction on Friday, and still be poking around on Saturday. Anyone else planning to hit this event?
  12. I think I'm with Z on the grille, the rest sound pretty good though.
  13. This is really funny for me, seeing all of you guys wax nostalgic over this car. For car fans of my vintage, KITT was something of a joke, and far from the coolest T/A ever! No offense intended, it just strikes me funny. You guys know I love my Firebirds, but KITT isn't one of them.
  14. More than I can really list, but here are some highlights: - At the end of this month, the Maserati goes to auction at Spring Carlisle. - As little landscaping as I can get away with (tired of it after 22 years) - Complete the wagon project and put it up for sale - Complete the El Camino Project and maybe keep it? I want it to make at least a few shows before the end of the season. - Determine the fate of the '98 Firehawk. It will either be returned to its original prototype condition or sold as is. - Sell the Jag as is - finish the Mothertruck and sell it or put it to work. - Try to make the Firehawk Rally in Ohio in August - I need a New England/upstate New York trip to settle my soul a bit. - Help my mom get the '38 Dodge to as many of the local shows and cruise nights as I can. - Help my mom sell off the equiptment from my dad's sharpening business, and reclaim the basement and garage for her. That only scratches the surface.
  15. I live on and maintain one of the larger private pieces of land left around here, and it is adjacent to several other large properties which are deed-restricted against any more subdivision. But, I don't own the place and that feeling of being transitory unsettles me. Also, living on a nice piece of property doesn't change the feeling of always having someone in your face at every store or other public place you go. Just too many people here now for my comfort level, and road rage is tiring me out.
  16. Nope. Should be Country Squire. :AH-HA_wink:
  17. Front isn't bad, but the back is stone ugly. Even if it is functional only a tiny percentage would ever take advantage of that function and then only rarely. However, 100% of the owners would have to deal with the ugly aspect every day - not worth the trade-off.
  18. Pretty impressive effort! Not my style, but nicely done - Ford should do well with this one.
  19. I'm going to need to see this one in the real world before I really know what I think of it. My initial impression is favorable and it seems to have found a unique spot in the current world of automotive design. I love how everyone is dancing around the design of a traditional station wagon yet keeping it at arm's length, this seems to be one of the more successful recent efforts in that direction. I see a stretched and upsized Mini wagon here, yet it has a very Ford style to its boxiness. I think I like it.
  20. Frumpy and fat like a middle-aged housewife who let herself go. The design seems thoughtless and uninspired, like they just tried to meet the minimum standards for the segment.
  21. The UAW and Toyota deserve each other. Both are negative forces here in the US and I would derive a great deal of pleasure seeing Toyota shut down for a few weeks by a strike. Let them feel equality for a change. However, I'd rather see the UAW cave to the domestics allowing them to regain share on their own merits on a level playing field. Long term, anything that would strengthen the UAW as much as a unionized Toyota can't be good for GM,Ford, and DCX.

    Subaru B9

    *Yawn*
  23. The Aztek is no longer the icon of ugly.
  24. At first blush: More Jeep and less "cute". I'd say that's a good thing.
