  1. Dash cluster and seat stitching look very GTO to me.
  2. Well Chaz, Hyper, whatdya think?
  3. I suspect that the "no- markup" rule is part of the franchise agreement between GM and Saturn dealers. So, yes , I think GM can stop the practice. Unfortunately, that doesn't hold true for any other division - sorry '68.
  4. Forgive me Evok, but you don't seem to understand the emotional factor when it comes to cars. This has nothing to do with anyone's manhood, it has everything to do with the pleasure derived from driving V8 powered cars. Even if you assume some real superiority in a V6 (which I do not), it will never be the engine of choice for many.
  5. I've always thought the Xterra was an honest 4x4 (I'm sick of the term SUV) in a "just the basics,Maam" kind of way. Hose out interior, not overstuffed with fluff, affordable, I respect it. The FJ is just too ugly to even consider.
  6. '76 Mark IV, 63k original, $1,500 Also a ,63 Continental sedan w/suicide doors, restored, $12,500
  7. This thread has become pointless and circular without the information to answer the questions I posed in my previous posts. To go farther with this we need facts and figures to examine. However, this is how I see the V8s near future: The raw number of v8s produced in the near term will fluctuate mostly with the sales numbers of light trucks. The V8 option will become more widely available in new, RWD, car models. The volume of V8 powered cars is likely to increase slightly at the introduction of so many new RWD cars then level off and perhaps decline to a stable ,if small, percentage of the fleet. In other words, I believe that a shift in the number of RWD vs. FWD cars in a given production year will also affect the number of V8s produced that year. Do I think that the V8 will again become the default choice in powerplants? Of course not, but I expect it to gain in the short-term and maintain in the long.
  8. This dovetails with a thread over at CZ28.com in which the poster swears he saw a 5th gen painted yellow with black stripes. Current thinking is that it is a mockup on another chassis built for the film.
  9. Agreed that this will take time, and further that it is getting a late start. However, the premise is valid and I can see no other option if Pontiac is to have any future at all. This needs to be pushed with all possible speed. The next 2-3 years are likely to look bleak with improvement gaining momentum after that. GM will have to show commitment to this plan if it is to work, it will be do or die.
  10. Here's another question: Can anyone name even one car in current production that has had its V8 option phased out?
  11. The Caprice looks pretty good in the pic, but appears to be missing some trim around the windshield. The MCs all have pics and vary quite a bit in originality and condition, the $ 1,800 LS seems like a good buy. If you want more specifics/ phone #s Just PM me.
  12. I sold the Delmont to a guy who worked for me at the time and he kept getting parking tickets so the car was impounded. I'm guessing that it became a cube of steel soon after. I wasn't happy about it.
  13. I can find exactly one point of agreement with all that Reg posted in his last post. No Firebird. It's dead, gone ,not coming back, not part of where Pontiac is headed, would hurt Camaro sales, and confuse buyers by splitting the image this new Pontiac will be promoting. I love the Firebird, but its day is done.
  14. Rumor has it that they are taking a hard look at the Aussie Falcon.
  15. Too bad I don't still have this: http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...?showtopic=6696 I'd have given you a great deal. :AH-HA_wink:
  16. How did your suggestions end up with the "New Devices" section? It should have gone to the Brand team for Camaro they solicited reaction to the concept via Fbodfather and the web. The e-mail addresses were posted on CZ28.com and Chirpthird(as well as elsewhere).
  17. No '96, but there is a '94 @ $7,750 I keep the Camino info to myself :AH-HA_wink: J/K, there is one that might be a Conquista (can't tell from pic)- it's an '85 for $4,300 or best. Also a '78 and an '86 (both non-Conquista/SS) for 4k and 6k respectively. And a '72 I have my eye on.
  18. Anyone for a '48 Buick Super 2dr. sedan?
  19. You struck out on the Pontiacs, Buicks,Dodges and Plymouths. There are a bunch of old Caddys though. '47 Cad ambulance $3,500 obo '56 Cad sedan (Deville?) 33k original, in storage since '74,$1,900 '65 Cad vert 49k original, 2 owner,$3,900 '66 Cad vert $5,500 obo '53 Cad Coupe Deville, stored 25 years, needs resto, $3,000 '62 Cad Sedan Deville $2,300 '79 Cad Deville vert 58k original $9,900 And, there are more.
  20. Wow! that's some list. I remember a hearse a few weeks back... I'll scan for your requests.
  21. OK, let's get some facts and figures here and leave the debate behind for a while. I'm interested to know the following: In 2003, how many V8s were produced for the US market? ( all V8s car and truck) In 2003, how many cars offered a V8 as a standard or optional powerplant? Then, I would like to know the answers to the same questions for the year 2005. Can anyone provide accurate figures industry - wide? ( US market only) Figures for other years would also be interesting. I am most interested in the availability numbers, as that increases the number of candidates that I can consider for purchase since I don't intend to buy anything not powered by a V8.
  22. Well, you have to get used to full time eventually, so why not?
  23. No dice. A couple of low mile Eldos. a '90 Toro 200k miles... AND: A '72 Toro w/a 455 for $750 obo!
