  1. OK, I see where you are coming from. I was restricting myself to the musclecar realm which was obviously their intent. They squandered the Charger name and couldn't use 'Cuda or Roadrunner, so I saw their options as limited. I never really cared for the big Chryslers of yore, they were huge even for their time. Hell, even their Musclecars were way bigger than the rest of the field. It's mostly an age issue I guess, to me the original 'Cudas and Challengers were the best looking bodystyle Chrysler ever did. I like others here and there, but these were the best.
  2. This thing almost makes the Bangled BMWs seem appealing. Everything about it is just so unappealing to me, from its over-gadgetized features to its underwhelming horsepower numbers, to its slab-sided ugliness. This is everything I wouldn't want in a car. Especially at this price point.
  3. Like what,Fly? If Plymouth weren't dead, it would have been the 'Cuda (and I would be even happier with it). Lacking that, and with DCX having already flubbed the Charger, what would you have liked to see? The musclecar selection is a bit limited now that Plymouth is gone.
  4. Sorry Bimmer, I'm with Balthazar on this one. The Challenger is gorgeous and will sell like hotcakes. The Charger, on the other hand, is a bloated,butt-ugly 300 with a bad roofline, too many doors, and the wrong name. They need to, and will, build the Challenger as close to concept as possible. Actually, I am so happy that the whole list of Muscle/Pony cars are here or soon will be (except Charger). I like: Mustang - it looks the way a Mustang should. GTO- performs like a GTO should but has amazing build-quality. I love the current one and have High hopes for the next gen. Camaro - words are not adequate, it promises to be the best ever. Challenger- Timeless design and the power to back it up. Now, the best part is that this is not the end. Can't wait to see what else Zeta/ZetaII has in store for us.
  5. This may all be true, but it certainly doesn't add up to the V8 being dead. Regardless of volume, the V8 is being placed on an even higher pedestal than ever. It is aspirational, and appearing on more option lists rather than less. I remember the death of the V8 being predicted decades ago, which obviously did not occur. The results this time around will be the same. Will the overall volume of v8 production decline? Perhaps, and perhaps not. Too many emerging variables are in the mix such as alternative fuels, DOD and other emerging technologies, and on the other side the rise of diesel and bio-diesel technologies along with the light truck CAFE standards. Either way, the v8 will remain - dominant or simply available, it will be around.
  6. One other point to consider: The move toward more RWD cars becoming available makes a V8 option a natural. Over the next 5 years, I expect to see an increase in the optional availability of V8s. I can't see a decline in V8 production any time soon. If FWD had remained the nearly exclusive layout it has recently been, then I might agree that the V8's days were numbered. Fortunately, this is not the case.

  10. 'bout time. It would seem that GM actually gets it this time. This plan is a no-brainer and should have been in place circa MY2000. Imagine the cars we could have by now!

  14. I've seen this so many times, I feel for you that you had to witness such a thing. I will say though that it is far worse to get inside the mind of someone planning suicide than to witness the final result. I could type 5 pages on all of this, but I just don't have the strength to deal with it all again right now. Suicide is the most selfish and cowardly act one can commit. I've lost too many friends this way not to know.

  20. Unreal. Your Aurora is cursed,Fly. I had a Silverado with a similar curse, it was hit 5 times! None were my fault, once it was parked at the dealership, once an employee of mine hit an old truck cab that was sitting in my yard, Once a Civic suicided against my left front wheel after running a light, another was a mirror hit with another truck that was in my lane, I forget what the last one was. I gave up and sold the truck.

  22. I think Cougar could work, but it needs to be a notchback. I love the 'Cuda - too bad they killed Plymouth as it looks better than the Challenger(which I also like). I could do without the screaming chicken, but the Firebird looks good too. Won't happen, but nice to look at.
  23. It looks good, especially against the silver. I prefer the red, but I want the dark red.
  24. Now to throw some more gasoline onto the fire: Ever see a mouse who's hindquarters were caught in a trap? They drag themselves around with their front legs as their back half is squashed flat. That is what the back of a Boxster looks like to me: as if it has suffered some crippling injury. Thus, my description of "ungainly". Now, I can be critical of cars I like as well, and yes I agree with BV that the Vette still has a big fat ass. It is much better than a C5 but still huge. It is not so bad in person (the C5 was) and looks better in metallic colors than bright solid ones. I remember reading about why the tail of the Vette is like it is (and it was a valid reason- aerodynamics I think) but I still would like to see more raw style there.
