  1. Interesting changes for the 2016 Colorado: http://www.gmfleetorderguide.com/NASApp/domestic/newfeatures.jsp?year=2016&regionID=1&lang=1&divisionID=1&vehicleID=17403 Not enough changes noted on the 2016 Canyon yet ;-)
  2. I received a GM Quality Survey in my email Thursday night; I took it Friday morning. Since I've been on the Colorado/Canyon forum, I mentally noted several complaints & issues that some owners are experiencing that I am not but fear could eventually. While taking the survey, I saw how some questions were worded that brought back these mental notes. I believe GM is aware of these owner issues and are now trying to quantify these issues. Driver seat comfort was definitely two questions worth ;-)
  3. https://www.yahoo.com/autos/s/proof-el-camino-never-went-away-143030892.html Read more of the article and see the pictures at the link above.
  4. FWIW, Ford is making a killing off the Police Interceptor Utility (PIU for short; i.e. Explorer). Many police departments in southern NJ are planning to switch over to the Explorer/PIU and do not like the Police Interceptor Sedan (PIS, for short; i.e. Taurus). I'm wondering if this may help or hurt the potential use of the Taurus/PIS in future fleets? I know many a cop that says the performance of the Taurus is good but the headroom is bad; similar sayings for the Dodge Charger Police Car - good performance, bad dimensions. I'm seeing more Caprices in NJ now than 2-3 years ago, and Tahoes are still around though I know a few police dept's that do not favor the 'heavy & slow' Tahoe, as they refer to them (spoke to a couple of cops about these vehicles Saturday at the scene of an accident I was called to - one had a previous gen Tahoe, one had an older Crown Vic, one had a new Explore, and the other a Taurus - all from the same dept BTW). The Explorer was favored among all the models there, though they agreed the FWD Explorer isn't great on wet roads v. the AWD model.
  5. I'd still like to see a picture of the rear panel/taillights.
  6. 1959 was the first "Wide Track" Pontiac... continued into the '60s
  7. I want to see the rear panel!! Why aren't they showing the taillights?
  8. I enjoy reading your posts too, though I don't add much. Please keep 'em going!
  9. If these trucks were any smaller, I would have went with a Sierra instead. I got use to the size of my Envoy (had 2 of them) and that's the smallest I'd go in terms of a new vehicle. Thankfully the Canyon is close enough to the Envoy in interior room that I didn't need to go to the full-size pickup. I still say there's room for a small pickup, maybe regular & extended cab body styles only, in the marketplace.
  10. Yes Cort, it should come as no surprise that a GMC would be on the top of my list. Not surprised that others haven't mentioned the Tucker. With such a limited production run and not many out there for the public to see, it's just not on the radar even with many auto enthusiasts. Cool story, balthazar! I have some correspondence and mementos from 2006 with Chick, the #51 Tucker owner in NJ, who passed away two years ago (IIRC). I was also just thrilled to see my name listed on the contributor plaque at the new AACA Tucker exhibit from my small donation when I attended a fundraiser in April 2014 (though my first name is misspelled 'Rodger'). One day I hope to purchase a Tucker radio, taillight lens, or other small piece of automobilia for my personal collection.
  11. I haven't followed the CT6 news as much as I should have, but I was disappointed in a 'bigger' CTS when it debuted. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Elmiraj and saw it in person at last year's NYIAS. I guess I was expecting a production version of that over a bloated CTS. I like the CT6, don't get me wrong, but I was expecting something other than a CTS-inspired design. The Buick Avenir is an awesome car and that's why I voted for it. Saw it twice this year; Philly Auto Show in early February and at the NYIAS two weeks ago. Still impresses me very much and love the design language that looks like nothing else in Buick's current lineup (and like the nod to the Riviera in the rear styling).
  12. No Regular Cab is planned, and it's been stated many times that the full-size pickup engines will not be used in the mid-size pickups. Of course things can change, but I think no manufacturer of mid-size pickups offer a regular cab anymore? I think we'll see the Twin Turbo 3.6L V6 before we'll see a 4.3L V6 or 5.3L V8 in the engine bay of a Canyon/Colorado. I agree with William about the seat adjustments. This is the first vehicle in a long time for me that does not have a 6-way power driver seat - it's 4-way with power lumbar. I miss the tilt feature of the 6-way seat. I've found a comfortable position for myself (5'8" tall, 240~ lbs), but miss having the ability to tilt the seat back some. Very disappointed in this lack of feature for a $40K MSRP "SLT"-trimmed truck :/
  13. 1955/1956 GMC 1. Available in stepside (short & long), Suburban fleetside (i.e. Cameo), panel van, Suburban Carry-All, chasis cab, Low Cab Forward (LCF), etc. body styles and in many capacities too (half-ton up and up) 2. Factory-installed 4WD (1956) and Hydra-Matic Automatic transmission 3. Multiple uses wherever a truck is needed Close second: 1957 Oldsmobile line-up (my favorite car though will always be the 1948 Tucker)
  14. Nope, no 4+ hour trips planned any time soon for me (FWIW, I can't think of a time I drove any of my vehicles longer than 2 hours). The longest trip I drive is usually out to Carlisle, PA (2.5 hours) at the end of June and then a bunch of 2 hour trips (Harrisburg, PA; Hershey, PA; Cape May, NJ; Allentown, PA; Baltimore, MD). My first trip will likely be Harrisburg, PA on May 15th, assuming my friend doesn't take the bunch of us in his limo If I don't drive the Canyon then, I will be going to York, PA on May 30th. I will definitely post my thoughts after the first long drive. By the way, I'm really enjoying driving this truck. I did liked driving my two Envoy's & my Sonoma, but the Canyon is by far the best GMC I've owned. I'm enjoying it so much that I don't regret not getting a Sierra, something that was a big concern to me prior to deciding on the Canyon. I will say that interior room for the back seat occupants (when 3 are riding shoulder to shoulder), plus the lack of rear interior storage (i.e. usable under & behind the seat storage) are my two gripes. I had a 2014 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab Short Bed LT 4WD rental last June (Father's Day weekend) and was able to put items from small shopping trips under the rear seat. With the Canyon, I have the use of the bed for all trips, small or large (tonneau cover with lockable tailgate). Of course this is when I have the kids in the back seat, which is most shopping trips. I had to do this with the Envoy too but it's an apples to oranges comparison pickup / SUV. The full-size pickups give you some usable under seat storage that I do miss in the Mid-size pickups.
  15. Monday while taking the kids out for some fun (had the day off) I passed a car carrier with this awesome yellow 1957 Cadillac on I-195 East (I assume it was heading towards the NJ Turnpike or maybe to the Jersey shore?). Whoever is getting it is one lucky person, she was a beaut!!
  16. No, I passed on it. If I knew more about its history at the time, I may have bought it. I have a ton of the M2 '58-'59 GMC and Chevy truck diecast models (2WD, 4WD, stepside, fleetside) that I really haven't gone after all of them.
  17. I'm no mechanic or car repair expert, but could the noise be coming from the rear gears/pumpkin? That is a constant moving part when driving. Your rear fluid could be low causing the gears to grind. Just food for thought.
  18. Damn, the only one I actually knew was the Mack Bulldog being carved out of soap (#5) and Z-06 beat me to it
  19. I've seen one XTS hearse on a car carrier with two other non-Cadillac hearses being transported. No XTS limo's yet, but I have seen XTS sedans being used as service cars at my work (more Lincolns over Caddy's). The limo in the pic above looks like an arch with the shape of the car. I saw other pics on Google Images and they too look like an arch. Very strange look, IMHO. By the way, the wife and I are fans of the XTS Sedan
  20. Only reference I've ever seen about Nickey Chevrolet is the recent release by M2 of this '59 Chevy Apache dealership truck:
  21. What Walt said... here's a picture for reference: The 2016 Equinox has the same new stack feature too (no CD).
