    I'd prefer to have a crew cab pickup, but costs will dictate what will replace our current truck. While preparing the budget forecast for vehicle, gear, and other future replacements, the fire chief looked at current state-contract vehicles to get an idea of how much to budget. Ultimately he determined $45k would be the target for teh budget proposal, and for that amount we could get a crew cab pickup (vs. chasis cab & utility body) or a full-size van, which would keep our equipement and gear covered and locked. I didn't argue too much... timeframe for replacement is 2018 or 2019... but I'd rather have the SUV over a van.

My lieutenant and I have been talking about going back to a SUV for our next vehicle, though the fire chief has also mentioned he likes vans too.

    Welcome back GMTruckGuy74, we missed you around here. Yes I totally agree that this has been a great following. Looking forward to the next chance after a replacement coil to hear if it fires up.     ocnblu: I agree with you, I want a more agressive-looking truck tire but don't need the capability of a light truck (LT) tire. The BFG All-Terrain T/A KO2's would be overkill for my usage. The Cooper Discoverer AT/3 tires are "P" rated but still offer an aggressive look for my tastes. And many current owners I found reviews online from of these tires came from the BFG tires and are not disappointed one bit going to the Cooper. I will say I did have a difficult time locating a tire retailer that offers Cooper Tires. The one I've communicated with is not someone I'd typically go to, but they have great reviews for service. For $hits and giggles, I tried my local Pep Boys but they currently do not have these specific Cooper tires available to choose from. Ccap41 - right now, my truck has a little over 15k on the stock (factory) Goodyear Wrangler Fortitude HT tires. I don't need to replace them - they have been excellent performers for me - they're just too highway all-season looking for my tastes (i.e. too small). I haven't made the "go" decision yet, will likely do that this week when the wife and I discuss other "wants" we will focus spending on.

    I'm in Denmark for work this week (fly home tomorrow). Grabbed an Uber to the closest Opel dealer today, hoping to see and grab an Insignia brochure (Estate model primarily). Saw the Insignia wagon, no brochure, but also saw the Adam and Astra. The Adam, while "cute", would suffer in sales I believe. Now the Astra Hatch and Estate - those need to come to the US pronto!!

    Did these new tires match the size/dimensions of your factory tires? Any rubbing? How does the truck handle? I'm still considering the Cooper Tires. Would have been nice for a factory option on all-terrain tires for our trim level trucks. I hate the way my factory Goodyear tires look, thought they've been great performers.

    I for one am disappointed with the news that the Buick Avista is not being seriously considered for production. It is s beautiful design and really drew a lot of attention to the Buick display at the NYIAS. Additionally, it breathes new life into Buick. It shows that Buick isn't your father's (or grandfather's) car anymore. The new 2017 LaCrosse and Encore are great looking Buicks, the Envision has potential, and we're waiting to see the next generation Verano, Enclave, and Regal. I think a halo coupe like the Avista would add a vehicle in that white space we hear so much about. The Cascada is a nice car, but not everyone will want a convertible and I'd rather have an Avista Coupe instead.

    I got a price on the BF Goodrich KO2 tires - a tick over $1k. More online research led me to Cooper Tires Discoverer AT3. They've gotten really good reviews and are comparable to the BFG's (okay, like one step down but many previous BFG owners that switched to the Coopers are very happy). Price is better too - around $776 installed. Any thoughts?

    Thanks for the information, dfelt! Because I'm leasing the Canyon for 48 months/15k miles year (36 more months to go), I'm really not trying to spend too much on modifications. However, I feel the factory Goodyear tires may either just make it to 60,000 miles or may need replacing between 45-50K. I'm not happy with the small look of the factory tires and would prefer my pickup to feature more truck-like tires (all terrain do the trick). But at slightly over a $1,000 this would be a very hard to justify expense. Those BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires sure do have positive reviews.

    Looking forward to seeing pictures of your modifications. I'm contemplating buying a set of BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires for my Canyon. Not that I have a problem with the factory Goodyear Wrangler Fortitude HT tires, they just look "too small". Reviews of teh BFG have been great; however, they are pricey. I'd really like to install the Colorado's wheel flares, I think the flat black flares would help it tie even more to the look of the Sierra. Was it easy to install them?

    Hmm.. GMC has a press event on Friday, Feb 12th at 10:00 AM. I was thinking that the new Equinox would have been shown the day before and the Terrain shown the day after, but with Chevy's announcement of the Camaro 1LE and the Trax, I'm now not sure? Maybe GMC will show a new concept vehicle instead?

    Not to hijack ocnblu's spotlight... but I drove my '15 Canyon in the snow last weekend (total measured 20.5 inches where I live). Not one issue with the truck and it continued on its way regardless of the amount of snow on the road, the slushy semi-plowed areas, or the slick spots from snow drifts. Handles much better in 4WD than my '06 Envoy 4WD did.

    2010+ GMC Terrain or Chevy Equinox (whichever design you fancy). Of course this would require some additional budget consideration.

    Three generations of the Buick LaCrosse: I see it too, in the six-window roof style, the creases in the hood, and in the sweep spear rear haunch design.

    Having just purchased a 2013 Buick LaCrosse Premium I sedan for my wife, I must say I am impressed with the new 2017 model. The interior alone is amazing, and I'm waiting for still shots of the side profile and rear three-quarter angle to come out before really committing to this new design (I saw a video that eased some of my concerns with those two angles). I think this will leap in MSRP based on the amount of standard features mentioned in the press release, which may put it out of our future price range. So far I will say I'm liking what I'm seeing and look forward to seeing it in person in the new year (Philly Auto Show,Jan 30-Feb 7).

    Sierra Denali is about $50,515. I would not be surprised if Canyon Denali is at least $40,000, possibly more. My guess? Approximately $45k for the Canyon Denali. My 2015 Canyon 4wd Crew Cab Long Bed SLT stickered just over $40k ($40,6xx). The extras the Denali will come with, plus the upcharge for the premium name, will easily add another $2-3k in price. Add in the 2.8 Duramax Diesel and you'll go over $45k.
