  1. All is well at this time. Last tank was a bit of anomaly. I got a particularly sloooooow pump and that resulted in the car taking 16.2 gallons of diesel in what is supposedly a 15.6 gallon tank. That led to what is almost surely a miscalculated tank: 587.6 miles on 14.987 gallons for 39.2 mpg. The EVIC said 35.5 MPG at 34.0 mph average so I would say it really was closer to 37 MPG actual.
  2. I just wish they would have worked the bugs out BEFORE launch and hope that is exactly what they do for the next diesel powertrain. People in this country already have a relatively negative opinion of diesel. The last thing they need are a bunch of stories about problems people are experiencing posted online.
  3. I got the car back yesterday. No P0133 code shown on the repair order this time around. Just a couple of codes that were apparently both EGR related (I didn't check - just what I was told). They replaced EGR sensor #2 and sent me on my way.
  4. I am going to hold off for the moment as the initial feedback is that it is different codes related to the EGR system. I will wait until I get the full feedback regarding what the issue is and what the fix is and I'll let you know if I would like to pull them in. I do appreciate the offer for help, though. That type of thing is one of the reasons I really like this website. You are always willing to help out.
  5. I really am curious what the fleet numbers are. I have not seen those posted in a while. It looks like Automotive News has that data but I don't have a subscription. Hopefully it is broken down between rental, government and corporate fleets as well. If some one has a subscription and can post the top one or two fleet percentage vehicles by OEM, that would be great.
  6. Show me the numbers! Seriously. I am curious what everybody's fleet percentages are. Did you see this information somewhere or are you rehashing old info from when the old fleet whore 200 and Avenger were in production? I know FCA fleets a pretty high percentage of minivans and Compass/Patriot but what else? Fiat and Maserati will never be big volume adders in the U.S. The vast, vast majority of Chrysler's sales are of the pre-bankruptcy brands.
  7. The new Camaro will more than compete on the basis of performance. The question is, will it compete on style? Even though I am not a huge fan of the latest Mustang's styling, other people's dollars are speaking. I fear GM will pull in their loyal base as well as performance oriented buyers but they may not pick up as many sales to millennials that want an efficient coupe with style. I'm not sure they went far enough with the redo for that.
  8. Diesel has been $0.10-$0.15 cheaper than regular unleaded for the last month+. Right now regular is around $2.89 at most stations near my house but I can also get diesel at a bunch of stations for around $2.73 and many of the gas stations around here charge $0.10 more per gallon if you use credit but diesel is usually the same price cash or credit. Not sure why it is like that. Bad news: The check engine light is on again. I drop it off again tomorrow morning. I'm beginning to think this car is trying to set some kind of record! lol
  9. I know Cadillac needed to bring their MSRP's up to be more inline with competition. They needed to eventually match the Germans. My only argument is that they tried to close 90% of the gap in one step. I do think their product is mostly on par with the Germans but when you are having to offer huge rebates to move product, you have an MSRP problem in my opinion. Maybe they just need better lease deals? I guess if the answer was easy things would already be fixed. Either way, I definitely agree that profit is more important than chasing volume for them. Chasing volume over profits is what got GM in trouble to begin with.
  10. It looks like appliance sales were down a bit this month! Both Camry and Corolla down.
  11. I hope for Ford's sake the F150 sales drop IS due to frame shortages. Anybody know what the turn rate is for the new F150? How many days are they spending on the lots? It says it is turning twice as fast as competitors but what is the actual number?
  12. The fact that the Trax outsold the Renegade is a bit of a surprise to me. Cadillac sales are still down and that makes me sad. They are nice vehicles but I think GM just did too big of a jump on MSRP's for the CTS. Seems they should have started with a smaller jump and then steadily raised MSRP's from there if the sales allowed. They need to build their reputation back up and honestly probably need to buy sales until the next generation cars when returning satisfied buyers will be willing to pony up a little more of a premium.
  13. Just out of curiosity, what annual sales would it need for you to consider it making it big for Fiat? I actually like it better than the Renegade but the option packages seem oddly put together to me and there aren't really any stand alone options. I think that may cause some lost sales. Why no 1.4 turbo with AWD, especially since you can get it on the Renegade? That also seems like an odd omission. If I was going to get one of these two it would probably the Renegade in the most loaded config I could get it with the 1.4t and AWD.
  14. I disagree. Why? I think this market is actually going to GROW. I think Challenger sales will stay level but I think Camaro and Mustang sales will take off with the millennials. Even though I am not partial to the new Mustang's looks, it is growing on me and you can't argue about the performance. The 4-cyl turbo motors piss off the purists to some degree but I think they are the primary reason sales will grow.
  15. I had the pleasure of driving a 2015 Scat Pack Challenger and I LOVED it. I want one so bad now. I don't even need the Hellcat as the Scat Pack has all the power you need on the street. And if you are into drag racing I have heard of folks running high 11's with just drag radials and no other mods. BTW - the one I drove was an 8-speed auto and I loved that trans so much that even though I'm a die hard manual trans guy, I would actually take the auto over the stick. Just got to get some remodeling done on the house first and see if I have money left. My wife isn't necessarily a performance car enthusiast but after one ride in the Challenger, she seems to be fully on board with getting one (though she would prefer the Charger).
  16. They turned the car around same day. P0133 reared is ugly head again along with a couple of other codes. Fix # 4 was an ECU reflash and was done per a service bulletin, I believe. To recap my P0133 saga for posterity: Fix #1 = Replace O2 sensor Fix #2 = Replace a couple of intake components Fix #3 = Replace a bunch of intake components and sensor Fix #4 = Reflash ECU I average about 5K miles between codes. I guess we'll see how it goes this time.
  17. Update: The check engine light came on again this morning. I drop it off at the dealership Thursday morning. Just under 18k miles on the ODO.
  18. I know a lot of people are going to bitch about the fact that GM didn't go far enough with the styling but as a three time Camaro owner I can tell you that I really like this. It maintains the heritage styling cues while looking more sleek and athletic. I honestly was not a fan of the initial 5th gen exterior but thought the refresh improved the looks. This takes it the next step. The 200 lb weight loss should help and I have no problem with the turbo 4 pot as the base engine. Honestly if I was going to buy a Camaro and not buy the V8, I would take the turbo 4 over the V6 as they are much easier to extract more power out of. All in all, I say good job GM! Here's how I would rate the pony cars on style: 2012 2016 1) Challenger 1) Challenger 2) Mustang 2) Camaro 3) Camaro 3) Mustang Since I have not driven the latest Mustang or obviously this Camaro, here is my guess what the performance order will be for 2016: 1a) Camaro 1b) Mustang 2) Challenger (excludes Hellcat) I have recently had the good fortune to drive a Scat Pack Challenger, though, and I can say that is a very sweet ride and in a straight line may out perform the Camaro SS and Mustang GT. While it turns well enough on the street, on a track I highly doubt it would hold its own against either the SS or GT.
  19. As a current Cruze owner, I can say... I think it looks better than mine. It is kind of Honda-ish but overall I like it.
  20. Wow, did you ever do a 180 on Chrysler. It seems like not too long ago I was trying to convince to sit in a Durango and perhaps you might start to change your mind! I guess it worked. lol The Pentastar + 8speed is probably the best V6 powertrain out there right now. It's a shame Chrysler todesn't get more credit for it. I agree with you both on the Pentastar and 8 speed. I have to say my wife's 300 w/ V6 and 8 speed feels only marginally slower than my Hemi + 5 speed Charger that I had before the 300. I actually enjoy driving the 300 more because of the powertrain combo. It's a sweet combo and our only 100% highway tank on our recent trip netted 31 MPG which is pretty darn respectable for a huge (but oddly nimble) tank of a car. My parents just drove their Durango to Michigan from Florida and I think my Dad said they averaged just over 25 mpg.
  21. Unfortunately I've never gotten a chance to take it on a long trip that used a whole tank of fuel. My wife never wants to take it on the long trips because "it's too small" even though it is an awesome trip car. The best was a little over 44 mpg on a trip from the Detroit area to Chicago and back. This included some heavy Chicago area traffic as well as one bad traffic jam that was about 45 minutes to go maybe 6 miles IIRC. On a two lane highway trip of a couple hundred miles round trip it showed 47 mpg on the EVIC which would have probably calculated out over 48 mpg but I didn't fill up when I got back. At one point it showed a 50 mile average over 53 mpg. Just for reference, my brother-in-law makes almost the same daily commute as me to work every day in his 2014 Dodge Dart GT w/ auto and and I think he gets around 26 mpg. I think I am more aggressive with the throttle than he is as well and I average at least 35 mpg.
  22. Another update as of a few days ago: 539.2 miles on 15.043 gallons for an average of 35.84. Average speed for the tank was 34.5 mph.
  23. You know something is wrong with the world when Toyota can sell 36K Camry's and Mazda can't even break 5K Mazda6's. You would think more current owners would be moving up from Mazda3's to Mazda6's but they must be moving into CX5's instead.
  24. What is wrong with people? 31K Crapolla's sold when damn near everything else it's segment is a better car. Obviously folks think it is the best appliance. SMH
