  1. Excellent book. I purchased a copy off of Ebay a few years ago. This is the cheapest price I have seen.
  2. So, we get the lousy hatchbacks, but not the sweet looking sedan and 'vert?
  3. As most of the regulars on here know, I'm a big fan of front bench seats. Many of the excuses for not offering/having them are poor, and it all comes down to the fact that many Americans are just stuck with the vision of the old vinyl one piece bench seats. Today's modern split benches offer all the comforts and versitility of buckets: individual driver and passenger adjustment, center armrest, and most of the 40/20/40 designs are actually buckets with a center seat stuck in the middle so there is no excuse for saying benches don't offer the support or comfort that bucket seats can. As far as storage, a storage armrest, center seating portion that can flip uo to reveal more storage and a storage bin under the center of the dash can provide just as much storage as a full center console. And safety... Cadillac came out the the airbank system (larger passenger airbag)back in the 90s to protect all three front seat passengers. I don't know if GM or Ford are using such a system today, but if they aren't there really is no excuse. A center shoulder belt could be attached to the side of the passenger seat back like some pickups already have. I've actually used the front bench to capacity a few times in my Impala and my old Cutlass. I just don't carry that many people frequently enough to compensate for the drawbacks of owning a minivan or tree row SUV/crossover. I really wish there were more options, or at the very least hope the ones we do have stick around in the future. What I really like is the open feeling of the interior without a console. Makes it feel more spacious...
  4. FYI: Some more GM Johnny Lightnings coming later in the year include: Corvair Monza coupe and convertible 1968 Impala convertible and... 1964 Olds Vista Cruiser with opening hood AND tailgate!
  5. minivans might have a stigma attached to them, but that doesn't mean alot of people don't want one. Perhaps GM is not losing much considering they never really had a competent minivan and therefore never much of a sales base to be alienating by axing future minivan plans. However, I think the fact that Toyota, Honda and many other minivans will continue to be out there is reason enough for GM to build one, it just has to be competitive. They have much more chance of gaining new customers with a traditional minivan bodystyle. I do like the new Lambda crossovers. At this point, I would feel kinda funny buying and driving a minivan simply because I don't have a family to haul in it. Not big on SUVS (including crossovers), BUT I do love the Enclave. If I could get it with a column shifter like the Terazza or Rendezvous, I would probably buy one. Seriously, now that I have my own house I need the ability to haul larger items than I can fit in the trunk of my Impala, and the Enclave looks more like a luxury car than anything else. Sliding doors would probably be e benefit to some with kids, but to me the way the rear doors open isn't an issue. The hatch, however, I would prefer to split in two with the lower half dropping like a traditional tail gate, but nobody is really doing that at the moment in SUVS, wagons or vans.
  6. Wow, those chrome wheelcovers are the wheels to get. I like those alot better than the 18" mushroom cap wheels on the XR. Best of luck with it..
  7. I sat in the new Sebring as well, and was really amazed at how bad it looked and felt. The Aura just blows the Sebring away (looked over both in detail in the showroom) Also, I think the Malibu's interior is nicer than the Sebring as well (friend had an '06 Mali LTZ before trading on a Silverado)
  8. I tend to get tired of Christmas music fast, but my favorites are of the non-serious type Grandma got run over by a reindeer Dominic the Donkey I want a hippopotomous (sp?) for christmas the Alvin and the Chipmunks song and a few others
  9. That's too bad. I actually like minivans ...a heck of a lot better than SUVs. GM never really had a decent entry in the segment. The current platform always too narrow (as it was a compromise for European models) and styling obviously shot for the 91-95 Chrysler vans. I was looking forward to having a competent minivan from GM as the Lambda seemed to be shaping up to be.
  10. About what I expected. Still has the mis matched shapes of the sedan, though they look better here, especially with the top down.
  11. Is this all-new, or just a refresh? Can't tell from the pic. Reminds me a bit of the late 90s Explorer grille.
  12. Oooh, now that's something I'd like to see. Hopefully if they do that one, there will be a Milan coupe too.
  13. I was actually excited about this one when I clicked on the link. Always glad to see more coupes, but I'm starting to doubt anybody knows how to design one anymore. Looks like they ripped off thier own Infiniti G35 coupe, and the Scion TC to come up with this. Too bad.
  14. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.... I scribbled better looking cars when I was two. Seriously, what were they thinking.
  15. exactly my thoughts on color. Wheel choice is not the best on this one.
  16. Love the suede. The carpet should be the darker color from the interior. That tan is going to show way too much dirt. What is housed in the little pod in the center of the dash, and is it new to all 08 DTS models, or exclusive to the Platnium? Was not in the 07 DTS I rented... I would just be happy enough to own a "base" DTS though.
  17. THAT's what I want... a sedan with a tailgate!
  18. Love that interior... actually it reminds me of a cleaner more futuristic version of the interior in my Impala..
  19. Not feeling any love for this one. After they styling of the Aura, Sky and Outlook... this one just leaves me dissapointed. Looks like a patchwork of different designs that just don't look right.
  20. Beautiful... a huge leap forward. The interior is the best part of the current Malibu design, so I can't wait to see what they've done with the exterior. I'm glad they are bold enough to offer the two tone, though it would not be my choice.
  21. They were still selling fairly well, despite the fact they were looking and feeling quite dated by then. Old people loved those cars (Cieras too).
  22. I'm a big-car kind of guy, but I must admit the Alero is a blast to drive.
  23. I have a pretty big collection of car brochures (pretty much all makes), all the Oldsmobile dealer albums from 1983 and newer, Oldsmobile price and spec handbooks from the 90s, and some assorted Oldsmobile dealer posters. I also have a bunch of license plates, some random emblems and hubcaps and my Johnny Lightning diecast.. all collected from various sources.
  24. I'm one of those customers that prefer front-wheel drive, so it looks like my plan to order a new '08 Impala should continue on track...
  25. mmmm.... deer jerky. beef jerky is also an acceptable substitute.
