  1. I honestly doubt a big rwd Buick would have as broad of an appeal as a fwd one. It might rate higher with the enthusiast mags, and probably with most of you, but that's not who buys Buicks. If anything, I would like to see the Lucerne redesigned on the G-Body platform again in 2011, and a rwd Buick be sold along side it as Buick's new flagship. The rwd sedan could bring in new buyers to Buick while the fwd Lucerne could continue to appeal to traditional Buick buyers that won't care that the platform will be ancient by then. My grandfather owns a Buick Century, and has been in fwd since 1982. I don't see him ever switching back. Same with my parents who owned a Buick, and most likely would buy another as their next car. I know my mom despises rwd. She was a big factor in my buying fwd for my first car when I wanted a rwd Cutlass (I didn't care about the drivetrain, just liked the styling). Even when I showed my dad the G8 he said he had a hard time getting used to fwd, but he doesn't think he would want to go back. Don't get me wrong, I am happy GM cars will be offered in rwd again (more choices=good), just not at the expense of all the fwd ones.
  2. I think they are crazy to go rwd with the G6. At least wait to see how the G8 fares, and by the sales estimates it seems like a bust to me considering it is a Grand Prix and Bonneville replacement. A fwd G6 is a good option to keep Grand Prix owners that aren't willing to switch to a G8 because of the drivetrain. I would bet the majority of the G6 buyer base is more concerned with looking good/sporty than any actual performance.
  3. I hope they bring it here. To me: fwd>rwd, but wagon>sedan.
  4. best one I ever saw was on a purple Saturn SC: URANUS
  5. I like the Bonneville dash too... minus the white faced guages in the pic shown (yuk).
  6. Really? I'm actually glad GM doesn't integrate the fob and key into one. I see people set thier keys down on the counter all the time when I am working my second job. I always think how cheezy and bulky looking they are. I guess there is a potential to do it well, I just don't like what is out there currently. The prototype Buick one looks totally amazing. The ambient lighting is pretty sweet looking too. I like the lighted turn signal stalk. I like the lighted interior door handles on the 08 Malibu as well.
  7. Haven't seen anything that I "gotta have" this auto show season. Leading choice at this time is a 2008/09 Impala LT3 (new) Precision Red, ebony cloth bench seat and silver dash trim, sunroof and spoiler delete (so I can add a SS spoiler) close second would be a Lucerne (used, may spring for new only if they add six-speed auto and/or fold down back seat) distant third would be an 08/09 Lacrosse (new, depending on if there is any facelift to non-super models or comes in "Precision Red"/"Crimson Red") An alternate would be to get an 05 Bonneville SE to hold me over until I can trade up to a new 2011 Lucerne (or whatever the last model year for the FWD will be). ...which would carry me for another ten years or so until I'm forced into RWD or bucket seats. ...of course I plan on keeping my Impala for at least another year and a half, but I don't forsee many new alternatives that will fit my criteria. The Alero will most likely be with us for another two years or longer, but my g/f has said she would like to replace it with a Grand Prix (used, obviously by that time). My tries to get her into an Aura have thus far proven unsucessful.
  8. I don't like coconut or almonds . Either one was pretty much the worst thing I could get when trick-or-treating.
  9. I would feel so depressed getting into a car like that... I can't stand clutter. I actually saw a Buick Century parked on a street in my g/f's old neighborhood that looked just as bad. I was stunned walking past it, totally filled except for the driver's seat, and it had about six inches of stuff stacked on the dash too.
  10. WHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYY!?!?!?!??!?! What a waste of a Cutlass
  11. That was the first thing that went through my head when this first happened. I picked the right year to go...
  12. The PC nazis win another round. Boo to GM for giving in. I thought the commercial was GREAT.
  13. Never did any type of drugs, or even tried a cigarette ...and never plan to. I'm not counting alcohol, which I do occasionally have .
  14. I honestly expected them to step it up a bit when they built the new convention center. The show seems more segmented now than in the old building to me, and it seems like they still don't have enough space. It doesn't help that the Chicago show is the same week, they take all the first year intros and concepts. We're lucky to get the table scraps. The Chevy SS concept was there last year though.
  15. When I was a kid, the guy across the street from my grandparents had a Toro diesel. It was not a Caliente... I know that much, but not sure of the exact year. I remember it was dark brown, and I thought it was the coolest looking car I ever saw ...until he started it up one day and it sounded like a big rig. He also kept a blue/white '71 442 convertible in the garage
  16. I think it would be really neat if it was digital with indiglo
  17. Auto show was originall supposed to open tomorrow, and I heard reports yesterday that it was off completely. What they don't tell you in this story is that a tractor trailer and a crane were on the section of floor that fell. Hoping my free tickets will still be good for the rescheduled show if it still happens at all.
  18. Too bad, I always thought the Rainier was the best looking among its siblings. Ascender needs to die ASAP
  19. ...but the <old> Taurus was never noisy inside or lacked power . I find it hard to believe Ford was able to sell so many Tauruses so recently with bench seats, and then *poof* nobody wants them anymore overnight. One of my co-workers bought an '05 Taurus with bench seats over the 500 because she didn't like the interior of the 500. In fact, I know three other people that own Tauruses with bench seats. I'd bet the majority of Ma and Pa-America Taurus owners would appreciate the added flexability of such an option. Directly from Ford: I would consider front seat roominess not bieng divided by a console, but maybe it' just me.
  20. Digital speedo is cool, but it's in the wrong place. Do I see ONE offcentered backup light in the rear bumper...?
  21. So, does this replace the xA, or is it an additional model? I think the front end looks the most Toyota-like of the Scions to date.
  22. What's the point? I still believe one of the reasons the 500 does not sell as well as the Taurus is that it does not offer a bench seat, something alot of people still expect in a car this size.

    Two for One

Great post. I'm one of those who is too lazy and cheap to be bothered with snow tires/studs/chains and sandbags in the trunk.
  24. The hatchback is probably more useful on a car of this size, but even a hatch that looks like a trunk like the old Dodge Shadow/Plymouth Sundance would be acceptable here.
