  1. What happened with my friend's tv... he has an 65" Mitsubishi HDTV... brilliantly clear. But, we scaled the programming back to 4:3 ratio (causing the black bars on the sides)... the reverse happened:The black bars are not burned in, but rather the center image of the 4:3 ratio has worn down the pixels or such--the two side bars pictures are much brighter than the picture in the middle--like two whiter stripes going down the sides when viewing HD programming or a widescreen DVD.
  2. I started working out fairly heavily last March... I had to stop pretty much completely last week when work started up again, because for a while, it's just a nonstop day/night work-fest until I get into a groove and I learn my students, have my plans and grading under control, etc. I was interested in getting a Bowflex... I've heard nothing but great remarks about them. It'd save me time from going to the gym--but I'm always afraid, if it's there, and I'm not physically leaving the house--will I actually do it?

  6. Hey... you leave it alone! If you give it a city block's worth of space, an hour, and all your patience, it'll park itself!!!
  7. Thanks for the extra pics! Looks great. I know people are going to hate me for saying this, but I actually like the plood in the GMT900s... dunno why.

  9. Congrats man--it's BEAUTIFUL. I would love to see more interior shots. Lots of luck with it What did you have before this?
  10. Wait... you're not supposed to?
  11. I think this is SO awesome! I'm so happy GM did something like this. Their engines are solid, they won't need much use of the warranties, but it'll draw customers in.
  12. The Lucerne has Navigation available now.As for the CTS, the ride quality is reduced with the firmer "sport" suspension, so the DVD Nav would skip when you went over bumps (I'm just trying to come up with some GM logic here--I really don't believe the statement I wrote) Nav should just be an option. If they want to do turn by turn, fine, offer it as a cheaper alternative. But how hard is it to offer both?! Then you stay competitive.
  13. No, but I would expect it in a Cadillac DTS. But then we get to the whole "I don't think that body can handle the 6 speed." Which means a $41K+ car still has a 4-speed. Pretty lame.

  15. Why wouldn't you want the audio controls on the steering wheel? I absolutely love them--wish I had them on my car--don't have to reach to adjust anything or look away. I wish they were standard equipment on every Buick.
  16. Ugh... just watched the video. You think they could have chosen a less-computerized voice for the Turn-by-Turn? Other manufacturers have such friendly and realistic voices coming on. Then again, it doesn't read the actual street names like GM's does, but still, I'm pretty good if it says, "Turn left in 100ft." and shows me a clear map on a bright color display.
  17. This is bull. They should offer both as alternatives in some cars--especially midsize as it is just pure competition. I can understand they want to push the OnStar, but c'mon, I doubt many people would want to talk to a stranger unless they were really lost. With Nav, it's hard to get completely lost--because as soon as you make a wrong turn, it reroutes you. Not to mention I like to see a map of where I'm going. I like to see myself planned out on the map. So, if I'm not going to do it the old-fashioned way with an actual map, then I'd prefer it on a screen. I can't understand why they must charge about $2000 for the damn thing though. I could see $1000 tops, but $2000 is just outrageous... it doesn't cost anything more for them after the car is installed with it unless it has the live traffic updates (which you pay extra for anyway).
  18. I figured that's why they don't do it--I don't have to like it though. It'd be awesome if they made more options/packages though. Oh well, I can dream.
  19. Yup. I always thought it was ridiculous that you had to choose certain things in packages rather than as individual options. I even commented on this a few years ago and my father told me, "When I was young, and I got my first car, a beautiful Bonneville, I was able to choose exactly what I wanted and what I didn't want."I know for a fact, I'd love to get auto climate control as an individual option rather than a package deal. I prefer nice cloth seats (if the quality is nice--would be great if velour came back), to leather--which I love in the beginning, but hate the way it ages.
  20. If you do download LimeWire... just try not to go nuts on the site... like downloading 50 songs in one shot. You're surely to get noticed if you do that. A song a day or per week is nothing, and you'll probably never get noticed.
  21. The only way I know to legally download music is if you pay for it. In that case, you can pay $0.99/song in iTunes. I think Yahoo was trying to do some sort of music service (dunno if they're still doing it or if it's complete--heard about this a long while ago).A popular software for downloading songs illegally is LimeWire.
  22. Leather is now an option.
  23. I'll be honest, my friend has a Corolla and a Prius--I find the Corolla has higher-quality materials inside, and more power than the Prius. Easily.
  24. Well, you know all the hassle my friend has experienced... It was towed within the first 6 months--OUT OF HIS DRIVEWAY. Battery has been replaced twice. He's currently averaging around 38mpg... with city driving... you know, the thing it's supposed to do better? LOUD and POWERLESS. Yes, it also has rattles galore. Then again, this is after 2 years of ownership. And he beats the crap out of his cars.
  25. Incredible
