  1. Speaking of Big hair and ladies in the Big 80s, enjoying some Expose this evening..
  2. The problem w/ driving anywhere right now are bathrooms..public ones at parks etc are closed. With the nice weather, I do want to go up the coast to some of my favorite beaches, lighthouses, etc.
  3. Haven't done a road trip in a while, but I in the previous reality, I'd stop every 100 miles or so for a bio break. I'd take a cooler w/ bottles of water. Stop for coffee at McDonalds or Dunkin in the morning.
  4. Binge-watched the new Netflix Steve Carell comedy Space Force last night...pretty funny.
  5. I saw a couple of Mechatronik's cars on display at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale a few years ago, they look well-built and well detailed...very pricy but very neat also. Similarly, I love the resto mod Singer Porsches..
  6. Merc = Mercedes. For a classic Mercury, I'd want a Ford powertrain, of course. If I had the garage space, wouldn't mind something like this for summer weekend 'tooling around' (as my Dad used to say)...
  7. For a vintage Mercedes resto, I'd rather go the Mechatronik route. Vintage car updated w/ modern Mercedes hardware.
  8. Really nothing 'interesting' going on at Nissan for many years...
  9. It's too bad, back in the 70s-80s Datsun then Nissan pickups were neat little trucks and competitive in the market.
  10. Well put...I love my yard. My happy place w/ the dogs. So green with all the rain this Spring.
  11. Yeah, the current Frontier has been around for a while..it's so boring I sometimes forget it exists...could get lost in an empty parking lot probably.
  12. I haven't been to Greece...my sister took a cruise/tour to Santorini and other islands 20 years ago after divorce #3, went to Athens and also Istanbul. Greece is on my to-do list.
  13. Yeah, I've been twice..once to Rome, Naples, Pompeii, Florence and the Amalfi Coast. Spent a week in Rome and a few days around the other areas. Second trip was up north to Milan--from there went to Venice, Turin (the Italian National Motor Museum was great), Lake Maggiore and Lake Como... I want to go back and see Pisa, Cincq Terre and the Italian Riviera..thinking that could be a French Riviera trip also.
  14. Heh-heh...with some of those narrow mountain/coastal roads there is no room for more than a narrow path... and in the ancient cities some streets narrow down to little more than an alley. I drove this road along the Amalfi Coast, actually scraped mirrors w/ a passing car in one small village...saw traffic stopped so a tour bus could negotiate a tight turn. Driving in Italy is adventure, i really want to go back...
  15. Yeah...there are definitely many places it couldn't go. I saw a few Tahoes in Rome when I was last there in '04. But far more Grand Cherokees and other midsize two-row SUVs like Range Rovers and Mercedes G-classes. When I drove a Mercedes A140 (1st gen A-class-- the tiny subcompact one) from Rome to Salerno via Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast there were some roads and streets where it felt too big...
  16. After lots of European crime dramas the last few weeks, been goofing off with '80s comedies this afternoon.. 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels', 'Spies Like Us', and ‘Fletch’ in the evening...love vintage Chevy Chase, Dan Ackroyd, Steve Martin... Been a quiet weekend... baked some orange roughy and veggies today... Up to 88 today after 86 yesterday. Crazy, went from 40s a couple weeks ago to 80s. Had the windows open yesterday and enjoyed some breezes and fresh air, but upstairs was too warm last night...fired up the AC at 1:30 am for the first time this year.
  17. My folks were in that area then...my Mom was from nearby Hindman and was 9 then, and my Dad was from Prestonsburg and 19.. he would join the Army Air Corps in 1941, then they met after the war. In present day NE Ohio, I've been enjoying great weather this weekend...spending time in the backyard and grilling/cooking..grilled some bacon-wrapped filets yesterday, and today made chicken habanero tamales and margaritas.
  18. Finished season 3 of Finnish crime drama 'Bordertown' this past week, along w/ season 1 of French/Dutch crime drama 'Baptiste' (with the always excellent Tchecky Karyo). Currently watching French mystery/drama 'Black Spot' .. set in a small French mountain town without cell reception or GPS (hence the title, though the title in French translates to White Spot)...surrounded by woods, mysterious goings-on in the woods, teenagers murdered/missing, a powerful lumber family, etc..feels a lot like 'Twin Peaks'..
  19. It’s a ‘57 Ford, but not sure which model, don’t recognize the side trim. Speaking of the 50s, saw a very clean ‘55 Chevy Nomad (Aqua w a white roof) driving in my neighborhood this afternoon.
  20. They need to do a TRD version w/ some ground effects, black wheels, red leather interior, black roof, big wing on the back... BTW, the Japanese-market Alphard van is available w/ a TRD kit...
  21. suburbia
  22. Which is more where the CT4 is size wise...
  23. In 2000s, I was flying 10-15 times a year probably. I took it for granted then. I’ve only flown 10 times in last 5 years, only twice in the last 3 years. I'm content to stay home and drive out to the islands and beaches on Lake Erie over the summer and fall. I really want to travel again to the West Coast and Europe, though. Maybe 2021.
  24. The 4Runner is quite capable, but it's so dated and ugly inside and out...I wouldn't get one over a Jeep GC (though the Toyota would likely be more reliable over 100k miles).
  25. Wear gloves and a mask and carry some sanitizer to spray other people? I'm not getting on a plane anytime soon, maybe in a year or so if things recover. There are lots of places I'd love to go, but not until things get to a 'new normal' eventually.... I really want to go to Colorado for a week or so, been five years since I've been there, lots of friends I want to see and places I want to go...maybe next summer.
