Day off so out running errands this afternoon. Sunny and 46. Saw an eclectic mix...dark red 87-90 Caprice sedan in good shape that I’ve seen before. Saw a clean white w tan top 77 Caddy Sedan de Ville w a custom chrome grille. Saw a derelict ‘61 Ford Falcon 4dr in traffic, a tri-color of gray primer, matte black and rust. Saw a pale green early 90s XJ Cherokee with Forest Ranger lettering and door shields. Wasn’t sure if it was county, state or federal..but is something that old still in official use? And went by the City of Parma office building and sure enough they still have their early ‘00s Bonnevilles...

Of the modern era French cars, I like the Renault Avantime and Vel Satis for their weirdness, along the with the Citroen XM and C6. The Peugeot 607 was a good looking, albeit conventional large sedan. Reminded me of the Chrysler LH sedans of the 90s-00s. The 407 coupe was good looking. For current French cars, I like the revived Alpine model, and some of the current models from DS

I could see that..an Icon Derelict style build.

Someone was inspired by the new Silverado. Look at that vent between the fender and grille surround. Or maybe a GM designer saw this and was inspired?

Yeah, I remember when crossing the void a few years ago the drive on I-70 from St Louis to Columbus being pretty dull.... almost as dull as I-40 from Albuquerque to OK City through the Texas panhandle...

Speaking of speakers, any of you audiophiles have experience w/ wireless home theatre speakers? Next time I set something up I really don't want to futz with running wires through walls for surround sound..

Watching the local news I saw an ad from a local dealer chain--they were hyping that they had 450 of the 'hard to find' Silverados in stock...if the lumpen uglies are so 'hard to find', why do they have 450 of them?

Polk has good stuff...some years ago a buddy of mine in Colorado was really into Dunlavy speakers..they sounded really, really good. My sister has a set of 70s vintage Magneplanar speakers w/ a vintage McIntosh receiver she had in her house in AZ, had a great warm sound w/ vinyl records, etc. All that gear is in storage for now, probably going to set it up in the eventual beach house.

Eventually I'll get an 8k...for now, 4k HDR QLED is fine. Next house.

I haven't tried Roku, long been a Amazon Fire TV fan, but my latest Samsung HDTV has all the apps I use (Prime, Hulu, Netflix, Youtube, etc) built in...

I was long a Sony and Toshiba fan for home theatre equipment, still have Sony blu ray and CD players...have a Yamaha receiver and Klipsch 5.1 surround sound currently.. (came with the house, still works pretty well).

The Compass and Renegade are well under 30k. Jeep got me hooked when I was 29... my first new SUV was my '00 Grand Cherokee Laredo--the entry level GC, right around 30k....20 years later still driving Jeeps.

Every city has problems w/ the poors.. not sure what the solution to it is. But I love the culture and energy of large cities..Cleveland has a vibrant downtown, lots of good bars and restaurants, the natural beauty of the lake and beaches, the river, the theatre district (2nd only to NYC in size), the symphony, great museums and universities...I love spending time in the city but love living in the burbs. And it's way cheaper here than Chicago or other larger cities.. Rural is ok for vacations, but couldn't do it full time..my Dad loved living on the farm, but I find it really, really dull out there.. not to mention it is very high maintenance and the isolation.

I think hers is a Galaxy 7...she's never had any issues w/ it. I like their TVs a lot.. I have a 40 inch Samsung HDTV that came with my house, was mounted over the fireplace..great picture, works fine...it's like 9 years old...moved it to my bedroom when I got a Samsung 65 inch 4K HDR QLED HDTV for the living room this past Christmas. Still have my Toshiba 55 inch HDTV in another room, it's 8 years old and still works great, but so heavy compared to newer flat screens...

I'm conflicted as to which worse. One thing the HD does better is the front fender and the corners. The regular Silverado is a complete mess with 53 conflicting lines and angles where the bumper, grille and fender meet.... just way overwrought.

Well, that's what the Overland, Summit, Trailhawk, Rubicon, etc trims are for...

I like tablets for lying in bed and reading books and magazines in the evening or on an airplane. The phone is too small for that. I do watch YouTube videos on my phone or tablet occasionally, but at home I just usually cast them to the Samsung HDTVs (65 inch in living room, 40 inch in bedroom).

Tundras and Titans look better than the Silverado. The Silverado needs everything forward of the windshield restyled and simplified...it's too busy, too much ugly going on IMO...not sure which is worse, the regular or the HD.

Though I'm a long-time iPhone fan, I am impressed w/ the Samsung Galaxy line of phones. My sister's is 3 years old and it's battery life is still strong..great camera and screen also....my iPhone's battery life is as horrible as it has always been. Samsung does have some solid products, love their HDTVs...

I remember the reviews..like after a few uses the screen was bulging and you could pry it loose w/ a fingernail.

Mercedes engines are generally known for their long life, but as with any modern vehicle the electronics are the weak sauce to long term reliability. And some of their engines have weird design flaws. I'm sure one could get a million miles out of a GM LS engine, and it would be way cheaper to maintain than an MB to that point. Not that I would want to get a million miles out of anything, I'm not a masochist. 100k miles is more than enough for me with one vehicle...

I don't like the larger phones because they don't fit in pockets as easily, and a larger phone is harder to use with one hand...with the 7 I can hold in my left hand and use my thumb to launch apps anywhere on the screen..can't do that with a larger screen. I like my iPad and Kindle Fire for reading books and magazines, sometimes watching videos... I don't really want a phone that thinks it's a tablet. Different use cases.
