  1. I could see the solar panel useful when parked in a lot like where I used to work in Chandler, AZ...10-12 hrs a day of sunshine in horrific triple digit heat day after day...
  2. Isn't that special. So it's sorta 600 somethings.
  3. Maybe the diesel will be 600D?
  4. I seem to recall that a couple of years ago the Mustang was the top selling sports coupe worldwide...
  5. Yeah, with full size I can't see off-roading a new one...now with Jeeps, it's different... back in the day, I had my '00 Jeep Grand Cherokee on rocky back country trails outside Crested Butte and Aspen, Co a week after buying it new..
  6. I liked the Art & Science styling quite a bit..esp. the sharp edges...in a world of lumpen blobular design, it stood out...the vertical headlights were a strong Cadillac styling cue, modern yet retro--harkening back to the stacked lights on the '65-68 Cadillacs.
  7. When they switch to BEV powertrains?
  8. I can't imagine many people off road full size luxury SUVs..maybe .00000000001 percent of buyers... Land Rovers and Range Rovers maybe in the UK have off-roading fans, but not much in the US beyond the off-road image..
  9. Those were just plastic appiques, though, right? Not actual changes to the sheetmetal (other than the front fenders and hood, I believe all 3 had the same metal).
  10. The IRS is a big improvement, Ford/Lincoln did it 12 years ago on the Expy/Nav...GM was being lazy with the old school solid axle...going to an IRS should improve the ride and lower the rear floor for more cargo and 3rd row legroom...
  11. If GM was interested in making the Escalade a unique luxury vehicle, it should share no side body panels with Chevy and GMC and have it's own unique styling...but they are too cheap to invest the coin to do that. Oddly, they do give the XT* Cadillac CUVs unique bodies compared to related Chevy/Buick/GM models---the XT6 doesn't resemble the Traverse or Acadia. There is nothing really wrong w/ the Escalade as it turned out, but it's still obviously a Chevy/GMC SUV with a different nose and added bling.
  12. There is a slight resemblance, but I bet the panels are all different...
  13. $36k for a subcompact w/ a 3-cyl. That's pretty effed up...
  14. That seems to be the case... the front doesn't bother me as much as the bad C-pillar trim...but bad C-pillar trim is becoming a Cadillac thing, look at the CT5.
  15. The problem w/ trying to compare to European makers is that MB and BMW have single brands, so they don't have the kind of multibrand reality GM has with Chevy, GMC, and Cadillac. However, consider VWAG--similar to GM in that they have a multi brand structure. They do have multiple brands, and they do have several large SUVs---consider the Touareg, Cayenne, Q7, Bentayga and Urus---5 different brands, all share the same platform (MLBevo) and have similar dimensions, but are very differentiated in styling. GM doesn't have that much differentiation styling wise between Tahoe,/Suburban Yukon, and Escalade...
  16. Dream on. The side profile of the SWB Escalade is nearly identical to the Tahoe and Yukon. The ESV has different C-pillar trim, but is nearly identical to the Suburban and Yukon XL in profile.
  17. Not really, though. There is little resemblance in styling between the XT4, XT5, XT6 and Escalade beyond some front and rear details between some models.
  18. Invalid comparison. Each of those are examples of different models within the same brand. GM has multiple brands. A Cadillac shouldn’t look like a Chevy or GMC.
  19. The mid 2000s models had almost no differentiation along the sides, except for the plastic lower trim, running boards and wheels that I can see.. if you hide the front ends, they all look pretty much the same...
  20. I realize Cadillac wanted to differentiate the side profile from it's 'lesser brand' siblings, but this C-pillar trim is just weak sauce, something whipped up in 10 minutes with no thought, IMO.
  21. The Yukon XL does the C-pillar trim in much better way, just a bit of bright work, no fake window plastic crud. Likewise for the Suburban..tastefully executed trim.
  22. Yeah...I don't think that is a black metal painted pillar, I think it's black plastic crud like GM puts on so many cars and CUVs/SUVs (Cruze, XT4, CT5, etc). A solid bright trim piece on the pillar would look much better, IMO---either covering the whole pillar or just behind the door opening with the rest of the pillar in body colored metal. Either put a window in the C-pillar or not, fake black plastic crud is just tasteless and cheap looking.... It's noticeably bad on a light colored vehicle..just nasty.
  23. Gak...that's the first of the ESV's I've seen in profile...my previous C-pillar comments were about the SWB model. That C-pillar trim is really bad on the ESV---typical GM fake quarter window black plastic trim behind the door..ugh. Just pointless... The nose is so flat it looks like it has no bumper in profile...same issue with the new Tahoe and Yukon.
  24. Well, the Tesla's front end is bland and uninspired....can't really compare. And the best thing about the nose is you can't see it from the driver's seat.
  25. I've never been a 4 cyl fan, but the 1.4 turbo in the Trax continues to surprise me. Very quiet at idle, and pretty smooth at highway speeds. w/ the 6spd auto I cruised at 70-80 all day, enough power to pass slow trucks in the mountains of VA & WV.....
