  1. I wonder how well these folding screens will hold up to daily use, though. I do like the idea of smaller phones. I really don’t want anything larger than my iPhone 7, but it seems everything is considerably larger now.
  2. Maybe they need to turbocharge their supercharged engines, or supercharge their turbocharged engines...like Volvo does.
  3. They have 3 affordable cute-ute models to get people into the brand, though...Renegade, Compass, and Cherokee..
  4. GM's core issue seems to be management incompetence. They come out with an all new engine in a car being cancelled. That's incompetence. Their trucks are horrifically styled. The Camaro is so badly designed as to be unusable as far as outward visibility. That's incompetence. The C-suite is full of imbeciles. Actually, engines have been one of M-B's core engineering strengths for decades.
  5. The Gladiator is a novelty more than anything else. Basically a better riding Wrangler with a large trunk. Not a lot of market for it compared to a regular pickup.
  6. They all look better than the current Silverado, though...
  7. The Rock Star is a neat little package. I got a 1/64th diecast one recently for my collection.
  8. Despite being suburban and a couple miles from a couple busy freeways, my 1967 vintage neighborhood is very quiet. No streetlights, lots of wooded lots, houses relatively close together but not like a modern subdivision. I enjoy the quiet. For sleeping, I love the sound of the ocean. The constant roar of the surf. The night I was in Daytona Beach last week I slept really well. Even 8 stories up I could hear the surf. I need more beach time.
  9. I wish they had built the Elmiraj...a large beautiful 2dr ht coupe...M-B and Bentley can build large 2dr ht coupes...why can't Cadillac? I know, I know...Americans want FWD/transverse engine CUVs...
  10. Nice...if my brother wasn't there, I could go and enjoy the property...unfortunately, with him living there I can't enjoy it...my Dad bought it in 1968 a place to retire to, my folks enjoyed it for 30 years until his passing in 1999. 150 acres in the woods, 2 large ponds (he stocked them w/ fish), 1859 vintage house, 1830 vintage guest house (log cabin), huge Amish barn from 1884, two 2 car garages, etc. Very tranquil out there... This pic is from 30 years ago, the two Fox Mustangs I had at the time w/ the Winnebago and barn in the background.
  11. On my family farm 90 miles south of here (where my brother lives, the property I co-own), I think dial up is still all that is available..pretty rural out there...scenic, but rural.. the house, guest house, barn, garages, etc are in the woods at the center of this pic, taken from the end of the driveway 3/4 of a mile away..hard to see w/ all the summer growth. Spent my childhood there, but now dread going there.
  12. Internet speed is definitely a concern outside the metro area.. I am thinking long term about buying a vacation home/condo on Kelley's Island or South Bass Island (Put-in-Bay) out in Lake Erie...I love going there in the summer...but the connectivity isn't that great. Or I may buy a vacation house on the mainland right on the coast in one of the small towns about 20-40 miles from Cleveland.. still close to civilization.
  13. I’ve done boonies/rural, so boring out in the sticks and too many weird rural people. I prefer the close-in burbs and being within a couple miles of major freeways, a level 1 trauma center, excellent doctors, good Thai, Mexican, Indian, etc cuisine delivery, gigabit internet, and a short drive to the big city amenities like the symphony, concert venues, museums, great restaurants, etc. Wouldn’t want to be in a metro area smaller than this.
  14. And all the steel and coal jobs went away, etc. Driving through the depressed areas I’m reminded of the old Simon & Garfunkel lyric ‘nothin but the dead and dying in my little town’.
  15. Yeah, Toyota is the 'no-brainer' choice for many mainstream consumers. I've worked with people that have only bought Toyota for decades. My cousin Mike has only bought Toyotas the last 20+ years (but he worked for them for 20 years after retiring from the Navy, so he got discounts). And it's generational, his 3 adult children drive Toyotas, and their adult children drive Toyotas... Kind of like how in olden days there were Ford-only families or Chevy-only families. Toyota's most off-road capable SUVs (4Runner and Land Cruiser) are so old now and in need of an update..
  16. A '99 Buick will work just a well, and there are probably more dead ones than '59s around.. There is a scruffy house in a small town along Lake Erie I drive through often that has a weedy side yard full of dead 2 seat GM products..will have to take a pic next time I'm through there. Last fall I saw 2 Allantes, a C4, a Reatta, and a couple Fieros there. Wonder if they have added an XLR since then.
  17. The dead house w dead cars reminds me of many places I’ve seen in the Upper Ohio Valley when I’ve driven down Rt 7 along the Ohio River around Steubenville and Wheeling.
  18. A friend said it looked like an evil fish.
  19. That's a bleak view...It's good to see some companies keeping up the fight, though...fighting against the dying of the light... a market with only CUVs and trucks would be pretty boring. The regular Sonata of that generation had a decent front end, it was the Hybrid that was horrific, IMO:
  20. At least Hyundai and Kia are still making sedans, unlike GM... I like the rear, esp. the taillights...front is interesting...
  21. The Trax has sat out this week and got covered by snow, but I have to drive it tomorrow (my sister has an appointment w/ an orthopedic surgeon and with her broken foot can't easily get in/out of my Jeep--too high). I'm going to get her Cadillac out this week and take to the shop, it has a small coolant leak somewhere. If she is cleared to fly, she has to fly back to Florida for work in a couple weeks, she's thinking of shipping the Cadillac down there instead of the Trax.
  22. After going wildly off-topic (my bad), any other thoughts on this new Sonata Hybrid? it's a good looking sedan, much better than the original Sonata Hybrid a couple generations back--that one had a hideous front end.
  23. Yeah, got to wash the cars this week...the next 10 days don't sound bad here, highs in the 30s-40s..but this coming Friday only 17...weird..
  24. Been snowing off and on since Friday. Yes, only another 6 weeks or so till Spring (at least on the calendar). Overall this has been a very mild winter for Cleveland...I don't mind the gray and snow, its the polar vortex cold like last year I don't enjoy...20s-50s is no big deal.
