  1. There were also a pair of '56 DeSotos...a white & gold Adventurer ht and a lavender/mauve Fireflite convertible... and a black / gold '56 convertible and red '55 ht, though I don't remember seeing the last two...
  2. Speaking of the Tucker, I saw another one last year at the Gooding & Company auction..it was blue also, in rough unrestored shape...it was a barn find, long thought lost..
  3. Alas, my photos were all indoors..didn't turn out that great..my phone battery was near-dead. Here's a couple... unrestored '65 Shelby GT350 '60 Pontiac Bonneville convertible '48 Tucker Mercedes-Benz 300SL '57 DeSoto Adventurer convertible '47 Bentley w/ special bodywork '54 DeSoto Adventurer II w/ Ghia body '12 Camaro ZL1
  4. This was one of the 3 '62 Starfires there...beautiful car.. This is the '39 Buick IPC.. The '67 Grand Prix convertible...this was the first time I'd seen one in person..
  5. This was the '28 Buick speedster... The '57 Desoto was one of my favorites..
  6. I think that was the silver ZL1 w/ the column shift..saw it today...there was an orange one also. The '65 Shelby may have been the unrestored one..saw a white one w/ faded blue stripes..
  7. Saw both the ZL1 and '13 GT500 up close today..both incredible machines...
  8. I spent a few hours at Barrett-Jackson today...great cool, cloudy weather. About 1300 cars this year...nice selection. In the main exhibit hall, Ford and Chevy had some large new car displays...incl. lots of 2012 and 2013 Mustangs...the '13 Shelby GT500 and Boss 302 were particularly of interest, along w/ the '12 versions.... interesting styling changes on the '13 Mustangs. Amongst the new Chevys, I got to see the Spark, Sonic, '13 Malibu, and Camaro ZL1 in person for the first time... sat in the new Malibu..pretty nice inside, but the rear seat area and rear door openings seem very tight... As far as the vintage cars being auctioned, beyond the usual dozens of Camaros, Novas, A-bodies, and Corvettes there were plenty of '50s-60s big GMs....in particular, a white '57 Eldorado Brougham, several early '60s Cadillac convertibles, several '59-66 Bonnevilles and Catalinas, a red '67 Grand Prix convertible, a white '62 Starfire ht, dark red '62 Starfire conv. Several '61-62 Bel Airs and Impalas. There was a nice group of '75-78 Eldorados also, incl. a low mileage triple brown '78 Biarittz. There was a very clean lt blue w/ white top '76 2dr Electra Limited. Lots of nice vintage Fords, Mopies, along w/ more '30s-40s Packards and other classic cars this year compared to the last time I went ('08). There was a Tucker, a '54 Desoto Adventurer II Ghia-bodied car, a silver Merc 300SL gullwing.. amongst the really old, there was in interesting 1928 Buick sports roadster (though it looked like it was more from 1918 than 1928). The '39 Buick 4dr convertible Indy Pace Car was gorgeous also. My feet and back are tired from walking... I took a few pics before my phone died..forgot to charge it last night. Lots of pics on the Barrett-Jackson site, though---http://www.barrett-jackson.com/events/scottsdale/
  9. $7000 for a '99 w/ 110k. Insane....by that logic, my '00 GC w/ 135k must be worth $9000. Though I think it's probably only worth maybe $3000.
  10. Really? Wheelbase and track of the XTS and LaCrosse are exactly the same. Yes, they are both 'long' wheelbase Epsy Dos (though I'd hardly consider 111.7 a 'long' wheelbase--shorter than the CTS!). The NG Impala will probably be the same...
  11. Love those '70s boats..though my favorite of that generation are the 'small bumper' '71-72s...always liked the rear of the '71 Buick.
  12. Actually, the Renault Clio V6 Renault Sport (what a mouthful!) is mid-engined and rear-wheel drive, so those vents actually cool the engine which is behind the front seats. The same is also true for the Renault 5 Turbo balthazar posted. Yes, same idea as the one-off VW Golf W12 from a few years ago...a hot hatch w/ an engine where the backseat would be...
  13. Thought you had an SRX and Escalade?
  14. My 12 yr old Jeep ('00 model year, built Nov 99) has 135k, still driven daily...my sister's two Mercs are 20 and 27 years old w/ indeterminate mileage driven often (over 130k and 175k, odometers no worky). But both of us need new cars, sooner or later...
  15. Would be cool.. but awkward at tollbooths, parking garage exits, and drive thrus... Speaking of RHD Cadillacs, I saw a RHD UK plated current style CTS sedan in Denver last summer... While we got our first toll bridge to help pay for it, Seattle over all has no toll roads and even the bridge is electronic with no booths to stop at so RHD is not a problem for driving here. No toll roads here in Phx, but parking garage entrance/exit access card readers and Starbucks drive-thrus are what I encounter every week that would be a pain w/ RHD.

  17. Those are LHD markets, and they probably prefer Escalades to haul around their entourages....
  18. I've only found 1 interesting '12 Matchbox repaint--a repaint of the '68 Mustang CS. Matchbox is going to focus on more garish kid-oriented models (construction vehicles, etc) and fantasy vehicles is what I've read. Saw a repaint of the '63 Caddy Ambulance as a surf wagon, but didn't care for the color scheme.
  19. I like the short rear overhang of the C6...I didn't like the giant rump of the C5...the C4s over all looked pretty good on the outside IMO but the interiors were hideous...
  20. Interesting..I saw that illustration on that site last year, though it was bogus...interesting development if they move away from the wrap around rear glass..the Corvette has had the same general B-pillar shape and wrap around rear glass for 35 years...
  21. It will be interesting to see what direction the styling goes...the C6 already has a small rear compared to the C5....
  22. Disguised modified C6 body hiding the fact that the new C7 platform is.... Epsilon II.
  23. As with BMW, M-Bs FWD models are just the small entry-level models...I don't see the serious models going FWD any time soon..
  24. Well, the i3 is going to be FWD, not sure about i8... I've read the next 1-series hatchbacks w/ be FWD and that the 2dr coupe and convertible will be RWD and badged as a 2-series. So it's just the low end entry models that will be FWD....doubt if any of the serious models will go FWD.
