  1. Interesting...I thought the Y-platform was revised w/ each generation....just realized, the Corvette is one of the last BOF cars in production..the last US one that I can think of...
  2. Speaking of European Dodge vans, how about this cool UK Dodge Spacevan (Commer) from the '70s?
  3. Nice..haven't found the IROC yet..found the new Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca the other day..
  4. I like Porsche's long-established evolutionary approach to design...why mess with a good thing?
  5. re Davesrs:-true...Chrysler has been a non-player in the biggest, most competitive market niches (compact FWD and midsize FWD) for soooooo long. The Dart should do well in the compact niche, now they need to build something competitive in the midsize niche.. I don't know...interested in seeing where they go next...
  6. It's hard to see what the strategy with Fiat/Dodge/Chrysler is going to be at this point, but it seems like they are moving in the direction of the 3 brands together constituting a full line vertically w/ minimal overlap (plus Ram for trucks and commercial, Jeep for rugged and lux SUVs and some CUVs). I also wonder if there is truth of the rumors of the next gen Challenger becoming a Chrysler Barracuda (!). Speculation: Fiat for subcompact cars and CUVs Dodge for compact and mid-to-large sporty cars, mid-to-large practical sporty CUVs/SUVs Chrysler for mid-to-large entry-lux w/ a minivan
  7. Interesting...seems similar to the thinking behind going to just one minivan. Are there still standalone Dodge/Ram dealers? Around here, there seem to be only combined CJDR dealers...
  8. Some interesting detailing...particularly how the taillights and rear spoiler integrate. Interesting side surfacing as well, this is the first Boxster to not share doors w/ the 911, I think. We be interesting to see how the next Cayman comes out..
  9. Happy Birthday! Have a good one..
  10. That is cool...got to check it out next time I'm over there..
  11. I think you are missing part of the conversation here... The Grand Prix, Regal/Century, Intrigue aren't branded as Impalas and have no effect on Impala sales numbers... but some would argue that all W-bodies are the pretty much the same car. weren't...they are no more. They were all similar cars on the same platform, but agreed, not the same--had cosmetic and mechanical differences. Likewise w/ the ES, Avalon, etc that share a platform w/ the Camry. The Solara was a 2dr Camry (badged as Camry Solara IIRC). Having the Granite and Encore in the same dealership would be no different than the Arcadia and Enclave...
  12. Chevy is the right brand for an xB competitor like this.
  13. Nice..but too bad the C7 isn't ready for the 60th anniversary...at least there is a 60th anniversary Corvette, unlike the 30th anniversary...
  14. Really? I guess it took 5. Lexus ES... Toyota Camry... Toyota Highlander... Toyota Solara...Toyota Venza. If you argue about the past Camry's, I'll bring up it's inbred family tree or that most of the Toyota nameplates mean 'Crown', anyway. Toyota uses it own flavor of obfustication. Non-sequitor. The sales of those additional models have no impact on the sales #s of the Camry by itself.. the Camry by itself is a bestseller...and the Lexus and Highlander aren't branded as Camrys.
  15. MCE's normally just change the plastic parts...looks like all the metal below the greenhouse is different. Kind of like what Ford did w/ the Mustang in '10. A new generation w/ a lot of carryover. I don't think the Civic carried over any panels. Anyway, I wonder how much of this is going to apply to the sedan?
  16. I need to master Photoshop..I have an idea in my head of a Spark Stingray...same pointy front end as the regular Spark, but a 2dr w/ a lower roofline and a teardrop pointy tail...
  17. I wonder how a Spark based sporty coupe would look...
  18. The shame is some of the most profitable cars are the most boring or lest fun. Hopefully growth in profit of appliances will lead to a continued supply of fun vehicles for enthusiasts (V-series models, SS models, Corvettes, etc).. Did you just figure this one out? Profitable companies can afford to play and do it right. Companies going broke that try to play come up with half baked good ideas. The better the bread and butter cars sell the more money they can spend on fun and image cars. No..it's one of those obvious things...
  19. Maybe lowering it would help the looks..a sporty coupe doesn't need 9 inches of ground clearance...another 2-3 inches of window depth would help w/ the thick sidedness (a problem so many cars have today)..
  20. I consider my '04 Focus 3-door to have "lots" of cargo space. I can fit more inside my compact hatchback than I can fit in a CTS sedan. I've proven it multiple times. It's difficult to appreciate the cargo space of a hatchback or CUV until you experience one. I'm sure the same is true with a wagon. Yes...the Escort 5dr I had in college had a lot of cargo space relatively speaking...my Mustang hatchback not so much (very shallow). My Jeep has good cargo space...I always plan to have at least one SUV..after 18 years of driving them, couldn't imagine not having the cargo space and ground clearance...I've actually had more hatchbacks (cars and SUVs) than trunked cars in my life..
  21. The GTC is a strikingly good looking car...look forward to seeing one in person eventually.
  22. I think they had the MCE for the Accord a couple years ago..this is the next generation, though the greenhouse looks carryover...
  23. The XTS only has a 111 inch wheelbase, though, not really big car territory...and it is narrow.
  24. The shame is some of the most profitable cars are the most boring or lest fun. Hopefully growth in profit of appliances will lead to a continued supply of fun vehicles for enthusiasts (V-series models, SS models, Corvettes, etc)..
  25. Yeah, it's not like the design had anything in common either..completely different looking.
