  1. That's point of Chevy, Buick and GMC. Profit centers. They can peddle the volume FWD mediocrity to the masses. Cadillac should be above that nonsense. Isn't Buick supposed to compete w/ the FWD Lexus models anyway??
  2. The target for the SRX really, though, is the FWD based premium CUVs---the RX, MDX, and MKX. The "target" doesn't know or care if it is FWD or RWD since they buy them in AWD over 50% of the time. Once it gets into AWD format, perceptions of "betterer" in either direction vanish for 98% of the driving public. F the 98%. Luxury cars are supposed to be premium, not your everyday generic FWD sh*tbox that Toyota, Hyundai, etc peddle...
  3. I think that's what they call the guy that delivers drinks to one at a resort.

  5. Those are just low-level appliances. Their good stuff remains RWD (for now)..
  6. Also called a ramada. Usually a square/rectangular shaded (often open in the sides) hut-like structure, often by a pool or a beach. I had one by my pool, but it was worn out and falling in, have a big umbrella on the table there now..
  7. LoL....that's like when my brother asks me to research stuff about his motorcycles or cars on the internet for him...he was online from '94-05, but hasn't had a computer since '05 and is too lazy to go to the county library out in rural Ohio...
  8. There is a certain logic to it..Audi does it with the A4/A5, as does BMW w/ the 5/6... Make the sedans and coupes related but distinct.
  9. I've also read that the next gen 1 series will likely split into a 1- and 2-, with the 2 series being the coupe and convertible and the 1-series being a FWD 3- and 5-dr compact, thus solving the 0-series quandry.
  10. There was talk of this naming realignment when the current generation launched several years ago. I've seen a couple articles this past weekend in UK mags online sites that claimed it was definite...the sedan, GT (5dr hatch) and wagon would be branded as 3-series and the coupe and convertible would be the 4-series. Likewise, there will be an M3 and an M4..
  11. Saw something this morning. Forgot what it was. Need more caffiene.
  12. Saw a very clean silver w/ white top '71-73 Coupe de Ville this morning (couldn't see the front end the way it was parked). Saw a yellow New New Beetle yesterday, first one I'd seen..in traffic, had the neat retro-looking wheel covers.
  13. Agreed...it's as lame an idea as the junky 'large' FWD boxy sedans Chrysler built in the late '80s on stretched K-car platforms..GM is just pepetuating the FWD mediocrity image.
  14. The DTS is a pretty clean and crisp design. The XTS' short nose just emphasizes the poor FWD proportions.
  15. It will be interesting to see how much the production car differs..certainly some of the concept details were concepty (lighting, instrumentation), but I wonder if the body lines will be essentially unchanged..
  16. Hard to say..looks shorter than the DTS in profile. Looking forward to seeing how it actually looks in person.
  17. IIRC from the pics a while back, the rear is very short, like the CTS..so this is a short nose, shorter deck design..
  18. The stubby Yaris-inspired nose is what ruins it for me...if it had an extra 6 inches or so between the tire and door it would look much better, IMO.
  19. I need to go there..badly. Sounds like they are still in business..haven't been back to A2 in over 10 years...need to go visit my alma mater. Tios
  20. poos
  21. It seems like the 4cyl end of 'tuner' market has been dying off for a few years now...a couple of the major companies doing parts for Hondas, Nissans, etc have gone bankrupt recently. The aftermarket for more adult tuner products (i.e. Ford/GM/Mopar V8s, BMWs, etc) is still strong, but the aftermarket for 4cyl seems to be not so hot...
  22. Cool..hybrid or not, I love the design of this car.
  23. Saw a black w/ red trim '12 Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca edition at lunch today..great exhaust note. Looks badass. Saw a worn but solid '71-72 Blazer, top off. Saw a clean '64-66 Ford pickup in dark red. Saw a slammed primered '40 Ford pickup street rod.
  24. I love the '62 Bonneville taillight treatment...though the '63 and '64 GP taillight treatment is pretty sweet also. I love both stacked and horizontal headlight treatments.. I have a lot of these cars in 1:25th, 1:64th, and 1:18th scale models to enjoy..especially love the AMT annuals of the early '60s..
  25. I mostly listen to NPR or local traffic news currently on my short commute, but when I do listen to music sometimes I go outside my usual areas of interest and listen to jazz, classical, cheesy '80s pop (Michael Jackson, Madonna), or Euro dance/trance...or if I want to laugh/cringe, I listen to Glenn Beck. My interests for car, home listening and iPod listening consists of a lot of classic rock, hard rock and some metal, blues, prog rock, New Wave, '80s rock, grunge, Brit Pop/Rock of the '90s-present, ambient, electronica....
