  1. WoW..that is a cool bunny.
  2. Would make a great Chevy Monza. Since Chevy has no compact 2dr/3dr, this could work...
  3. Allpar has a pic of the Liberty Arctic Edition..white. Sharp. There is a Wrangler Unlimited Arctic Edition also. http://www.allpar.com/SUVs/jeep/arctic.html
  4. Right, so I was wondering what place it had in the discussion. Meaning that can't compare premium BMW and RR RWD models to GM's FWD mass market models. Maybe 'mainstream' was the wrong word.... the point is, transverse engine w/ FWD is used on mainstream, volume cars...appliances. It has no place in expensive premium models (Lexus only uses it on their entry level volume appliances, for instance--the ES and RX, their serious models are RWD). The XTS will be a volume entry lux model to compete with the MKS and ES. The weak FWD/transverse engine platform makes it uncompetititive with premium models from BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, etc. I'd love to see GM build a legitimate large RWD competitor above the CTS to compete with BMW and M-B...but they aren't going to get there with a weak, mainstream FWD platform. To put it in other terms, FWD is like McDonalds and Wal-Mart. Luxury cars need to aim higher.
  5. You mean like the joke like the Rolls Royce Ghost ($225K) on the 7-series platform ($71k) which is in turn based on the 5-series platform ($41k)?? Re-fixed. Both the 5 and the Ghost are based on the 7. True, but that's a premium RWD platform...not a mainstream transverse engine FWD platform.
  6. Hmm..interesting. Mass. plate..I could see 68 hooning around in that...
  7. Of course it does, I had to PC my definition down before anyone got their panties in a wad. That said, One Million Moms is a far-right conservative group, affiliated with the far-right conservative American Family Association, so yeah, conservatives are the reason you can't buy Schweddy Balls. So it's the usual idiot fringe groups. AFA is based in Mississippi, a state renowned for the ignorant and backward.
  8. Good luck and hope all goes well for you.
  9. Packard Predictor, I believe. (didn't check Wikipedia either...I remember this car and the Packard Request from a magazine article years ago...)
  10. That style Datsun pickup was sold in the US in RHD form in the '70s..they had a trim level called the 'Lil Hustler'...haven't seen one in a long time.
  11. Saw a yellow '77-79 Lincoln Mk V that looks like it had suffered a homemade convertible conversion. Instead of a folding top, it had a grubby tarp.
  12. I like the shape of the '78-81 Malibu and LeMans 2drs...the roofline and general shape reminds me of the '64-65 A-bodies..
  13. I wonder if the ATS-V will weigh around 3450lbs....
  14. Don't think I've ever seen a Lincoln flower car in person of any era. Though I've seen photos of a Mark V-based one.
  15. Speaking of shortbed regular cab trucks, I saw a Ram one the other day..didn't know such a configuration still existed at Ram.
  16. Brian Eno--An Ending (Ascent). So beautifully used in the poignant clip from Top Gear, Season 13. The car, the cinematography, Clarkson's narration..the music. Maybe my favorite clip from the show.
  17. The XTS takes things in a strange direction of short hood, shorter deck. No, take a look at the ass on the XTS in Chris's Cadillac XTS spy video I like the music in that video.

  19. So? RWD proportions are better looking than common, generic FWD... Check out these long hood RWD proportions.... The E-bodies were unusal as they did look like RWD cars, they had no outward styling cues that would indicate FWD. Alas, the Chrysler gives away it's lame transverse engine/ FWD nature with the short wheel to door distance. Short hood and long deck..unpleasant except on a midengined car, IMO. Alas, I doubt if anything like this will happen in the future from an American automaker..
  20. The inline six will provide Mercedes with a new level of BMW-ness, the E350 coupe will have long hood and proper RWD proportions AND no B-pillar for a true hardtop look. This is the only combination possible to build a car better than the Hyundai Sonata. long hood, RWD, hardtop, with straight 6 and V8 versions...that's about as pure good as it gets...
  21. My Jeep got a shopping cart ding the day I bought it....stopped at W-M to buy floor mats. Don't know if it was a careless shopper or the wind.
  22. So? RWD proportions are better looking than common, generic FWD...
  23. No one takes the Compass or Patriot seriously as Jeeps, they are just FWD car based cute utes. The bar is set pretty low for their replacement.
