  1. I've thought about moving back to Ohio, but it's such a depressing thought. As the song lyrics go, 'Nothing but the dead and dying back in my little town'. No future, only the past to cling to.
  2. Long commutes are just part of life in many metro areas..can't exactly sell your house and move every time you change jobs...in Phoenix, my commute has varied from 6 miles each way up to 27 miles each way over the last two years...I've stuck w/ my 18mpg SUV w/ no complaints for those commutes. I'm sure if I were in So Cal my commute would be the same or longer, and I'd have the same SUV or a bigger one (or a full size car).
  3. Every time I visit So Cal I don't want to go home. But then again, I have to come home to AZ..
  4. Yeah, I live in AZ, and have never heard of 'Arizona Express News'...the Arizona Republic is the big paper here.
  5. Saw a really clean bright red '70 Malibu 350 2dr yesterday, had '68-69 style Rally wheels w/ dog dish style center caps. Today on the freeway, saw an unusual matte dark red Chrysler 300C wagon w/ blacked out chrome, large black wheels...sinister looking. Saw a solid '69 Mustang sportsroof in dark primer gray on the freeway, looked very straight, a resto project in progress I assume.
  6. Interesting...I thought the Sorento was about the size of the Equinox. Isn't the Sportage much smaller?
  7. 'Ugly' is probably a better description than 'plain'.
  8. Saw a 1st gen Infiniti G35 in silver w/ faded/peeling paint, one front fender primered, scuffed plastic bumpers..odd to see a car that recent so worn out looking. Saw 3 Lucernes in traffic last evening, incl. one w/ a rooftop ski/bike rack and a driver that appeared to be no more than 30. Shocking.
  9. ah...I'm used to putting my initial (R for Rob) at the end of my emails, text messages, etc. Force of habit thing, I guess.. R
  10. Reminds me of a couple of 'em here at work, one a '91-92 and another a '94-96..both white Caprices, likely ex-cop cars w/ spotlights, no door side moldings. One has steelies w/ DDs, the other '90s style directial mags (that one has aftermarket gauges on the dash and a rear wing). R
  11. Interesting... don't think I've lived in a state that does safety inspections. I do remember road side ones (horn, tires, lights, wipers) in Ohio back in the '70s, though. I don't know about Michigan, Illinois, or Florida (lived there, never registered a car there) but I've had emissions every two year inspections in Colorado and Arizona.
  12. A tan '80 Dodge Aspen on side of the freeway this morning w/ a flat tire. A very clean triple brown '76 Caprice 4dr sedan w/ '80s style slotted mag wheels. This was a few weeks ago, but Camino's post triggered the memory-- a dark green w/ white stripes '70-73 Camaro w/ RS nose and L88 hood on the side of the road w/ the front tires on a two-wheel trailer. I wonder what happened to the truck or whatever that was pulling the trailer..the car was too nice to leave abandoned on the side of a busy freeway.
  13. Saw a strange one...a young blonde woman driving a white w/ red interior '75/76 Caddy Coupe de Ville in decent shape, but without the hood. I think I saw her driving this car a few months ago, but with a hood then... Also saw two clean white w/ white top '81-91 Blazers..
  14. The 'musician' w/ the red do-rag looks like Lil' Wayne w/o the tats.
  15. Saw a silver new Regal pulling out of the Buick store and one on the lot (also silver) this morning, and a clean light blue '73-74 Nova.
  16. That's what I figured. I'm multitasking..
  17. It's funny, I've started noticing the banner ads occasionally, and today noticed ones for a Chevy dealer and another for a VW dealer. Yet the dealers were in the Oakland, CA area, though I'm in Chandler, AZ encubed. Must be the ip address or something.
  18. Being on the GC platform means it's a pure SUV, not a car based CUV or a truck-based SUV. If the Durango were still on the Dakota platform, then it would be appropriate for the Ram brand.
  19. 'cause it's a family hauler, an SUV. Ram is for trucks.
  20. Well, for many people marriage w/ 2.5 kids, a house in suburbia, and two Toyotas in the garage is the American Dream (with the ability to upgrade to a McMansion and 2 Lexuses later, of course). Toyota: Moving forward.
  21. Yes, like 'News Feeder' or whomover was posting new articles a while back..
  22. Saw a new Fiesta hatchback in green on the freeway yesterday, temporary plate. Saw a very clean '77 Malibu 2dr in pale yellow (I think it was a '77, had the stacked rectangular headlights). Also saw a very clean brown w/ tan top '78-79 Cutlass Supreme coupe. And a triple black mid '90s Eldorado ETC convertible.
  23. Hmmm...Bentonville, AR. McMansion in the background. Bought w/ Wal-Mart money?
  24. 'show' works well as a way to pronounce SHO...on the other hand, it's hard to pronounce 'SVO' or 'SVT' as a word... How about the Toyota trucks with the "TRD" decals? I pronounce that 'turd'...
  25. 20 years ago I remember people calling it 'show'...
