CTS coupe interior impressions
Tiny windows and poor outward visibility are a problem w/ so many cars today.. it's interesting to see how much better the visibility is in a car designed in the '90s compared to a car of today. Cameras for rear visibility make sense for a Winnebago or semi truck, but with cars, the design should account for visibility..make the windows large enough to see out of and stop putting the top of the decklid 4 feet off the ground. As far as the CTS coupe, after seeing it in person, I'm dissapointed w/ the rear quarter design...way too thick in the rear quarters, and why is the tail so tall? The car would look much better if the beltline/top of the decklid were 6 inches lower...a coupe should be sleek, not a stubby hunchback w/ a giant swollen arse.. I really wanted to like this car...the C-pillar and greenhouse in isolation look great, but the lower body is so tall and stubby in the rear, that's it's really off-putting in person from certain angles..

"Tragedy" Happened To My VW
Glad to hear you are doing well... Speaking of accidents w/ Toyotas, found out this morning that my coworker got his restomodded '55 Chevy Bel Air ht out for the first time since his heart attack a few weeks ago...was a mile from home when a neighbor's kid (on a cell phone) ran a red light in a Camry and broadsided him...no injuries, but his Bel Air is pretty banged up.

30 Days Hath September
Saw a derelict 1st gen Taurus on the freeway last night...one headlight, hanging at angle...no front or rear bumpers, front fender and hood crumpled. AZ has no annual inspections, so rolling wrecks like this keep rolling along)

I like the design of the current Malibu dash w/ the two pods...if this is how the '12 is going to look, well, it's very generic...

The top guy has to take the blame for the failures. GM went bankrupt and lost a lot of market share during his reign. Per Wikipedia--"The latter part of Wagoner's tenure as CEO of General Motors found him under heavy criticism as the market valuation of GM went down by more than 90% and the company losing more than $82 billion USD. This led to his being named one of the worst CEOs of 2008."

New job
The diesel was a rare option on both the Continental and Mark VII in '84-85. There is a diesel '84 Continental on ebay right now..starting bid $1000.

I've had friends and co-workers explain Toyota purchases as the 'safe' choice, the 'obvious' choice, and a 'no-brainer'..' no doubt word of mouth and Consumer Reports.

Funny thing about Camry demographic....it seems to resonate w/ buyers of all ages...I know plenty of Camry buyers under 40, under 30, some under 25 (that bought new ones over the last decade).

Is it just me ...
Yeah, Palm Springs is pretty nice..love the mid century modern architecture of many of the older homes...but for California, I'd love to live in coastal San Diego County or Orange County...Del Mar, Encinitas, San Clemente, Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano...love those areas... A buddy of mine that used to live in Denver recently moved from San Clemente up north to Arcata....looks very nice from the pics I've seen.

For fall, I'm looking forward to the end of the triple digit highs...looks like it won't be until after Oct 1 until the highers are down to a balmy 99 or less consistently again...woo hoo...

Same here..that concept certainly fit the bill for a '4dr Camaro'...

XTS and Escalade. The Escalade is already ranging up into the $70ks... Besides, if they do a $130k V8 ZTS, there will probably will be a V6 version for $90-100k or so..

Ugh...those angled-toward each other gauges that are appearing everywhere (not sure if it was Audi or Mercedes that started that dumb trend) and teh silly hat on top of the gauges like the LaCrosse...

It will be interesting to see where the next S-class styling goes...the current one has grown on me...though I still like the 5000lb tanks of the '80s-'90s w/ the larger, upright grille...the grilles are too small on the current and previous gen S-class, IMO..

Check engine light comes on....then goes off after a day
Picked it up this afternoon. Shop couldn't find anything wrong. I think I'll run some fuel injector cleaner through it.
