  1. SLP575 575 hp, $23k option...
  2. Fun...I remember quite well riding in those growing up...my Dad bought a new Lincoln every 3-5 years for the family car.. spacious, quiet, and comfortable. The coupe was only offered through '81 or '82 IIRC.
  3. Saw a '57 Chevy 150 4dr sedan at Starbucks. Done in 'rat rod' style, battered, painted primer gray w/ red steel wheels. My sister was surprised to see a car from her birthyear out being driven. It's rare to see anything older than 20-25 yrs old in our neighborhood, let alone 53 years.. Also saw a very clean '83-84 Buick Electra Park Avenue 4dr in silver /w silver top.
  4. The comment about the rear view mirror makes me wonder if they use the same supplier as Ford..I've driven two Fusions this year and they both had the distorted funhouse rear view mirror (objects look taller and narrower than they are). Is mirror manufacturing a lost art? Overall, though, expected some criticisms of it..coupes are a rarity in general these days and are known for their compromises, they tend to bias towards style over practicality. Looking forward to seeing this car in person.
  5. On the freeway heading home, I saw an '85-86 or so dark gray Electra 4dr in minty condition w/ Idaho plates. Haven't seen a nice one of those in eons..
  6. Funny you mention that...the SAAB 9000 was on a platform that was shared w/ the Alfa 164, which was a much better looking car than the Milano, IMHO.. I used to see a couple 164s around Denver.
  7. That was such an awkward looking car, maybe Alfa's worst design of recent decades? The odd upkick of the beltline in the rear quarters to the odd bumper ends. And inside, a random grouping of rectangles..
  8. Satin black 1st gen CTS-v, titanium colored grille, wheels and trim. Dark window tint. Looked evil in the desert heat..
  9. aluminium
  10. How's the rear and side visibility in parking/backing up? Quiet? How's the driver's seat feel on long drives (supportive?). Ease of egress/ingress? Turning radius?
  11. The Rising- Bruce Springsteen. Probably my favorite album overall from the '00s.
  12. Happy birthday, guys!
  13. I once went in a rest area bathroom to discover someone had shat on the toilet paper roll and in an urinal. Great. Was the Florida Turnpike IIRC.
  14. Attempting to post this again, 4th time. Had a good weekend in Denver and in the mountains. Back in Phoenix today, took the day off...swam a lot (pool is great in the hot weather), hung out w/ the dogs, watched the F1 race from the weekend and the sports car race from Mid-Ohio. It still hasn't sunk in that I'm 40..
  15. Almost 5 years...I wonder what the longest time a thread has been dormant between posts on here..
  16. Saw silver and white '11 Regals today...pretty sharp.
  17. Yeah, the car from 'Vacation'...the original (or a replica) was sold at an auction in the last year or two, IIRC.
  18. I can't recall when I last saw an Alliance, or any US market Renault. Wasn't the Alliance hatchback called the Encore? Remember the Fuego? Likewise for the Renault based Dodge Monaco and Eagle Premier...been years since I've seen one..
  19. Maybe it's just a factor of where I drive the most...freeways, some city, some suburbia..mostly late model and new cars..don't see many old cars out and about.
  20. Definitely not forgotten. I see them at shows...don't see them on the road, maybe a couple Chevelles every 6 months or so.
  21. Saw one of these a few min ago, was orange and white two tone...no top, no windshield or winshield frame...just a black roll cage.. Even more so, the diesel versions. Wish my Mom had kept ours, had it up until '00..
  22. Other than car shows, seeing most anything from the mid '80s or older is kind of a rarity around here. Even at car shows, '67-70 Cougars seem to be rarities....about the only time I ever see them is when I visit my Mom in Ohio and go in the barn.
  23. Kind of obscure new, very obscure now--Ford Elite Any non-Nova X body (Apollo, Skylark, Ventura, Phoenix, Omega)
  24. True, but such a usage is implicit..this technology could be quite useful for active tracking and monitoring of driver's locations..what government wouldn't want to do that, if they had access to all that real-time data?
  25. Tracking drivers' locations. Beyond the tinfoil angle, this seems like a really dumb, expensive idea overall...
