  1. Of course, if GM marketing had come up with the '4dr coupe' moniker, you guys would be drooling all over it...
  2. And they will sell 5000, maybe? The car pickup seems like a low volume novelty...I wonder if it will do better than the SSR (another answer to a question no one asked).
  3. I like it...stylish and modern, not just another practical SUV.
  4. Wooo...Civic El Camino. That is the BOMB! Not. When I lived in the Florida keys, I remember a mid '70s Torino wagon running around with a wooden stake bed right behind the driver's seat..
  5. Epsilons are narrow because of their European origin (Vectra/9-3), I presume...Europeans have narrower roads and Europeans tend to be trimmer than the typical obese American. Honda knows the size of Americans, though--the new Accord is 3 inches wider than the new Malibu..
  6. I've never done brown, but I have several friends that used to work at FedEx..I interviewed with them a couple of times..they have some pretty cool package tracking software systems (their main IT shop is in Colorado Springs).
  7. That's pretty cool...
  8. That era Passat was an impressive car, esp. after it's facelift w/ more chrome and the revised front end. I really liked the style of those cars. I was dissapointed by the current Passat, some aspects of the design inside and out I like, other aspects, less so...
  9. Good point..
  10. Perhaps the new model will be sold outside NA and they need to be able to use a wider licence plate pocket, and didn't want to tool up two complete decklids.. A console e-brake is nicer than a foot pedal style...and the dead pedal is large to accomodate large American male feet..
  11. A theory of Accord sedan design I have is that they alternate bolder designs w/ conservative designs generation by generation, starting w/ the 2nd gen. 2nd gen--conservative (mid 80s) 3rd gen--more radical (late 80s, pop-up headlights, low nose) 4th gen--conservative, early 90s, squared-off, exposed headlights 5th gen--more radical, more rounded (mid '90s) 6th gen--more conservative, angular (late 90s, early noughts) 7th gen--more radical (mid noughts, pointy headlights, unusual quarter panel shape) 8th gen--more conservative--more upright grille, headlights (late noughts)
  12. Yes, the Amish are interesting to listen to...the part of Ohio I'm from has a large Amish population (36% of the population of Holmes County speak Pennsylvania Dutch, and Holmes County has the largest Amish population in the world).. but it is frustrating to get stuck behind a slow moving buggy when I'm out for a fast drive on the twisty, hilly backroads..
  13. My daily driver Jeep blends in with all the other SUVs in suburbia and the office park, fine by me, it's comfortable and reliable. I do drive my toys ('87 Mustang GT, '96 BMW M3) mainly on the weekends in nice weather, but do drive them to work occasionally...(the lack of cupholders and other modern features limits the driveability of the Mustang
  14. At least he didn't piss and moan about it not being BOF, so maybe he's slowly evolving...or not.
  15. Turns out it's German...according to Wikipedia, Gnadenhutten was founded as a settlement of German and Lenape Native Americans affiliated with the Moravian church. This community remained neutral during the American Revolutionary War, but ninety-six of them were massacred in 1782 by American revolutionaries in retaliation for raids carried out by other bands. A couple of well-known college basketball coaches came from there--Eldon Miller (Ohio State) and Bob Huggins (Cincinatti, WVU).
  16. I'm not sure...Dutch or German. Pronounced 'JUHnaydenhutten', though often shortened to 'Naden'. Used to have a great local ice cream shoppe with incredible peanut butter milkshakes..alas, long gone.
  17. Michigan..I think I've been there... and there's Milan, Michigan and Milan, Tennesee, neither of which are pronounced 'MeeLahn' like the Italian city.. The nearest town to my family's farm in Ohio is Gnadenhutten, often mispronounced...
  18. Cynwyd sounds Welsh... (the vowel-starved country of some of my ancestors).
  19. I pronounce it 'El Ay' (LA).
  20. Trust and honesty is essential in any relationship... with work, any promises/etc I always get in writing..I don't trust people to carry through on verbal promises.... I think one of the thing I like better about contracting is that I don't have to deal with any of the assumptions or promises that I would have as a regular employee... I simply do the work, get paid by the hour, and my free time is mine...if management expects me to work overtime, I get paid for it.
  21. I have thought about moving to Pittsburgh...only 90 minutes from the farm...living there would give me the big city life, techie jobs, and access to the countryside, since I will eventually inherit the farm...
  22. Why not...in my family, it's the Mustang and Cougar ranch (between myself, my brother, and our mom, there are 6 Mustangs and 3 Cougars stored on the 'farm' in Eastern Ohio...
  23. There's a Buena Vista here in Colorado...I've heard both "Byoona Viss-ta" and "Bwena Veesta".. An odd one here is 'Poudre'--name of a valley, a river, a mountain range.... some how, locals pronounce it 'Pooder'.
  24. 1. Get a Camry. 2. Move to suburbia. 3. Be happy.
  25. Sounds like you need to up your meds...when I've felt down, I've found that bumping up my Zoloft dosage smooths out the rough edges...
