  1. Hmmm... well, July 18th of next year I have my 20th high school reunion..not sure how I'll dress for that..not a kilt though... (though I definitely have Scots-Irish heritage). Since it's S. Florida (Marathon) in July, I want to be comfortable. It should be interesting..
  2. Well, the fascia, rear bumper, rocker trim, etc is different.. it seems at least looking at the pics, the external trim difference between the IS350 and IS-F is similar to that of a regular C-class vs. an AMG version. Anyway, what's important is the hardware, which it seems Lexus has done a good job with..
  3. Interesting..I thought that new fascia was only for the Super..so they are all getting it, eh?
  4. It's got the serious hardware, though..I'm saying the whole package is sporty.. like BMW's M series cars or Merc AMGs, the body work is subtle (except for the side scoop). I wouldn't expect Lexus to do something with huge wings or hood scoops or other tacked on 'sporty' cheese like a Subaru WRX Sti or Mitsu Evo, for example..
  5. It looks good..looks much better in production form than the prototype pics from a few months ago..too bad they kept the side ground effects gorp, though..it would look cleaner without the busy stuff on the lower front fender ahead of the door. Nonetheless, it is neat to see Lexus do something overtly sporty rather than just quiet luxury cars.
  6. Sandusky, Ohio, on Lake Erie. Fun place. I used to go once a year to ride the coasters when I lived in NE Ohio and Michigan in the '90s.
  7. I'm not sure what the big difference would be..going from one compact FWD platform to another....
  8. Shh...not too loud..don't want the right wingers to find out and boycott the site and GM..
  9. Boring..looks like the same old same old with a freshened face. The Land Cruiser needs to go back to its roots and go hardcore. This is redundant with the Sequoia and LX.
  10. So, 6-8, when you going to do up your '71 Caddy hoopie donk style?
  11. Not directions necessarily, but.. I get approached by Asian tourists wanting me to take a picture... (this has happened here in Denver, in Hawaii, in Cali, in London, in Rome, in Venice, etc...).. Some Germans once came up to me outside a Benihana here in Denver and asked me questions in German..I had no idea what they are asking.. A few years ago, as I was briskly walking through an airport, a woman asked me if I knew what time it was, I said 'Yes' and kept walking..
  12. Hmmm..I always wonder about the people that claim 'sudden acceleration'....they didn't think to use the brake, put the car in park, shut off the engine, etc?
  13. I like both, have spent a fair bit of time in both on vacation and work, have worked in Northern California for a few months a few years ago, and went to my previous company's offices in Oakland a few times in '05-06. I love So Cal for the car culture, the beaches, the weather, the scenery. I also like Nor Cal for the scenery (redwood forests, Monterey, the wine country). As far as the big cities go, I like LA and San Fran..both have interesting qualities, I like how SF is more compact and not as spread out. But careerwise, no question, Nor Cal. The Silicon Valley (San Jose/Sunnyvale/Mountain View/Palo Alto/etc) is still the center of the universe for the software industry, so if I moved to Ca, I'd have to go to the Bay Area....and I have friends in Nor Cal also. The cost of living relative to Denver is probably the main reason I haven't moved to Ca yet..
  14. True..except for the Solstice, Pontiac currently is an Avis brand..providing rental cars slightly more 'sporty' than Chevy rental cars.
  15. Ahh yeah...I remember TAT as Valerie in BH 90210...I had forgotten she was in SBTB.
  16. Hmmm...interesting..the Fox Mustangs started out with the 2.8 V6 in '79, then switched to the 3.3L inline 6 mid-79. The 3.8L V6 replaced the 3.3 in '83 (according to Wikipedia). I don't think I've ever seen a straight 6 in a Fox Mustang, didn't realize they were offered with one (I'm more familiar with the 5.0s).
  17. I saw a base model new Tundra today..regular cab, short bed..silver w/ steel wheels, black bumpers. Pretty homely. I haven't seen any work truck/base versions of the '07 Silverado or Sierra yet, w/ black bumpers...I assume they exist?
  18. Yeah, what the article refers to as a 'new model' is really just a new trim package.
  19. My last company (big fortune 500 company) was like that...they had to change their policy in my division to match that of the small company I worked for that they acquired..that company started out new employees at 3 weeks, and added one per day per year until you hit 4 weeks (at 5 years). 2 weeks is pretty stingy these days, a lot of companies around here have gone to 3 weeks minimum, at least in the software industry.
  20. I'll probably go see them when they tour. VH was the first band I ever saw in concert, in Miami on the 1984 tour.
  21. My last job had 20 paid days vacation plus 10 company holidays.. but after almost 5 years there, I was bored out of my mind. I usually took 2 weeks off together in the summer, or 1 in spring and 1 in summer, plus the other 2 weeks scattered around here and there--4 day weekends, time around Thanksgiving and Xmas. At one point at that job, I was working 60-75 hr weeks. But the last year, I was working strictly 40. Now I'm a contractor again, working hourly, no paid vacation. But I have a good hourly rate and good benefits, so I plan to take off a month next year plus the usual holidays and some 4 day weekends (Labour Day, Memorial Day).
  22. I like the Mutt... I've long been an AC/DC and Def Leppard fan (20+ years). Speaking of POUR ...SOME.... SUGAR.... ON MAY, I drunkenly kareoked this song, Hysteria, and Back in Black (with William Shatner enunciation and dramatics) at the 3rd Annual Drunken Canadian Horseshoe Tournament and BBQ 2 years ago.. one of my former coworkers has it on video...truly horrifying. The 5th Annual DCHT&B is coming up this Saturday here in Denver..fun, fun, fun...the Jaegermeister, Kokanee, and Canadian Rye will flow freely. My favorite producers are probably Daniel Lanois, Brian Eno, and Rick Rubin.
  23. I don't recall ever watching that show...however, I did watch 'Head of the Class' when I was in high school (Khrystyne Haje--hot!) and I watched 'Beverly Hills 90210' in college.. (Tiffani-Amber Thiessen in an NSX...even hotter).
  24. In 60+ years of driving, my dad probably had about 20 cars. In about 60 years of driving, my mom has 5 cars that were specifically hers and not shared w/ my dad. In 40 years of driving, I think that my brother has owned about 50 cars. He has 6 currently. In 32 years of driving, my sister has had 10 cars. (has 3 currently) In 21 years of driving, I've had 6 cars, 3/4 currently.
