  1. True, but considering they are American--the land of obese people--that the cars and SUVs are heavy and getting heavier is a given..
  2. Agreed..plenty of choice is a good thing. But I do wonder how brands like Isuzu or Suzuki can stay afloat in the US market... (i.e. do they turn a profit?). I love seeing the high dollar, low volume models here...the world would be a lesser place without rolling art like Maseratis, Aston Martins, etc...
  3. Acura has it's own niche, I don't think it will have the volume of Lexus or Infiniti, but in it's on way it fits nicely along with other FWD/AWD near-lux brands like Saab and Volvo. Acuras are a nice step up from regular Hondas.
  4. Mitsubishi seems barely there... not sure what value Kia adds (seems largely redundant w/ Hyundai). And what about Suzuki and Isuzu? Invisible.. I don't see any of the European brands leaving, though Saab seems to be barely a blip on the radar these days..
  5. Yeah, there is a ton of neat stuff out from JL currently...they also have a nice dark red w/ vinyl top '83 Cutlass Supreme now..
  6. Ouch..reminds me of my accident in '94, when a Ford van (driven by a Ford employee) pushed a Town Car into my '86 Mustang LX... did $4000 damage to a $2500 car (it had about 60k miles and was rust-free, which was rare in Michigan). Neither door would open, the decklid was folded up and pushed through the rear window, both rear quarters accordioned. I wore a neck brace for a few weeks, went to a doctor and a chiropractor..
  7. Though I've always thought Hummers are lame poser-mobiles, I certainly wouldn't condone mindless vandalism. I had to laugh, though, when I read that the guy was 32 and living w/ his mother.
  8. The biggest dissapointment to me is that the DI engine isn't available w/ the manual..
  9. 20% for a car loan??? Outrageous!
  10. The father of a friend of mine drove Cadillacs for years, until he bought one of the first year ('03?) Bangle BMW 7-series..nothing but problems, incl. the i-Drive. Unloaded it for a '05 Merc S-class...nothing but problems, in the shop all the time. Now? He's driving an '07 STS.
  11. No wonder the Corolla and Camry are the cars of choice of H1-Bs when they come to the US.... they are 1000% better than what they had back home..
  12. Mmmmmm...more diesels.
  13. I doubt I will be going w/ Vista anytime soon...the desktop w/ XP I bought in April 06 will be the last Windows computer I buy, now that I've gone to Macs.
  14. And now for something completely different.. At work, there are a few (maybe a dozen or so) Priuses...but today I saw one like no other..not only did it have a 'W04' sticker (a Republican with a Prius? I would have thought that unpossible!), but it also had a decal in the rear window that says 'Bad Ass Boys Drive Bad Ass Toys'.... wow. There you have it..a Prius is supremely badass...
  15. "The Love You Save" by The Jackson 5. Never heard it.
  16. Sweet..it would definitely make a nice Saturn..keep the name...maybe call it Saturn Aura Calibra.
  17. Kind of an apples and oranges thing since the Charger and Magnum are currently available, while the TA has been out of production for 4 years...
  18. A couple articles I've seen in magazines indicate it would be a low volume model and V8 only...who knows, maybe they will build a V6 version..
  19. Remember, 68, you are at a Chevy-Cadillac dealer..your percentages would be different at a Honda or Toyota dealer.
  20. I think a lot of consumers have the mindset that GM is like Wal Mart---'Low Prices Every Day!'...
  21. The Envoy seems like a poor second choice to the Enclave, what with the Enclave being new and modern and the Envoy being old and dated (not to mention the truck platform).
  22. $42.5 sounds reasonable to me for a well equipped Enclave... that's the price range of a loaded Grand Cherokee Overland.. It's below what a comparable MDX or RX would be. Buick is aiming for the big leagues now, so expect big league pricing for premium vehicles...
  23. I'd avoid cheap beaters..they just break and leave you stranded.
  24. Go for it if you can afford it and love it..but remember, BMW maintenance costs can be pretty steep (esp. brakes).
  25. This afternoon on the way home (rainy, stuck in 5-lane bumper to bumper traffic) I was listening to U2's 'Achtung Baby'....still my favorite album after 16 years...
