  1. Considering I'm getting by with a Honda CRV right now, I think I could probably get a Chevy Lumina APV and it'd be a fine work vehicle. I just want something that will last and I don't have to worry about too much so then I can focus on finding myself a Toronado for a daily driver.
  2. I assume you mean on the Dakota? Yeah, unless he were to come down at least $2k in price, I'm leaning towards the Ford.
  3. Yeah, my dad complains about the fuel economy in his all the time too..... but it's going to be an apartment work truck for me. If it sees 100 miles a week, that'll be a lot. for the same asking price but with 35k less miles, I'd be silly not to. Of course, none of this happens till I hear some news on Friday
  4. Ocn, I don't know if any of what you said is good or bad. I like that F-150 because the miles are lower and it has that bullet proof I6 + a manual transmission. My dad just had his first breakdown in his at 200k miles. The little plastic part of the rotor in the distributor finally gave up the ghost.
  5. Now THIS is more like it. Other than exterior color, that is exactly the truck my dad has.
  6. If he doesn't then I don't buy. I can flash $5,000 in cash in front of him if I need to.
  7. Well, just because that's the price on the windshield doesn't mean that's what I'll end up paying. what I'm getting at though is: Are there any gremlins or things I should watch out for on these? There is also a super clean 2007 Ranger 4x4 5-speed extended cab on the lot, but not priced yet.
  8. Yeah, KBB puts it at $5400 for "excellent" condition... which it really isn't. It's "good" at best.
  9. Here's the link to the truck.
  10. Spotted a 2001 Dodge Dakota on the way over to the inlaws this evening. $6995 which I'm sure can be negotiated down. 113k miles 3.9 liter 5-speed 4x4 standard cab Good/Bad/ugly about these?
  11. yeah, but at the time I wrote that post... it was true and those are rather large vehicles.
  12. Just link back here.
  13. Saw a very clean and obviously loved 1999 Firebird get rear ended by an F-250 today. Happened right in front of me as I was trying to pull out onto a busy road. Not totaled, but he'll need a new bumper, new tail lights and some other things. No external fender damage, no rear hatch damage.
  14. No, the split in to two platform variants after the S-10/Sonoma died. I think the Colorado/Canyon/H3 were a variant of the GMT-360s but with enough differences to warrant their own platform code.
  15. why not the Colorado/Canyon platform? The platform is inherently sound for off roading. The H3 was fairly capable if a bit heavy. Remake it as a Wrangler competitor and sell it at GMC...... along with the small truck refresh.
  16. Thank you for your very detailed clarification Dwight. After hearing that, my vote goes solidly in the TT3.6 side. I like my torque way down low.
  17. Well, Dwight posted a torque range for the 3.6, but didn't with the small block. On the DI Ecotecs without turbo the torque curve is fairly flat and the peak is at 4900.
  18. how comes the torque happens so high on the RPM scale with a DI small block?
  19. That STS-V from last weekend.
  20. So... bringing this back up again. I've seen a number of V4 marine engines that seem to run very well. Everything in this thread was mentioning mounting it transversely..... but how about a V4 mounted north/south to offer better packaging for ultra small RWD vehicles? A V4 in a Solstice could be mounted lower and with more weight towards center of the vehicle than the ecotec I4.
  21. Replying to myself after all these years. Now that I've actually driven two Lambdas, the owner's manual actually states specifically that the "manual gear select is not intended to be used in a fashion similar to a manual transmission. It is intended specifically for gear holding during towing or hill descent situations." It's basically so GM didn't have to put 6 notches in the gear selector.
  22. The materials are fine (with only a few flaw that I can find), but the ergonomics and layout are atrocious... enough to make a Citroen jealous. I can't imagine having to live with one day to day. I just had a rental Mini on Wednesday. Edit: Here's my review the Mini Cooper from a couple years ago. Same car I had on Wednesday.
  23. My 1983 Caprice. Flat and with very little support. If you sat in the middle of the seat, the steering wheel was off center in front of you. If you sat with the steering wheel centered in front of you, you were much too close to the door and off center on the seat. The head rest was only useful if you were a 4'7" little old woman.
  24. The sport buckets in my Cutlass convertible.
  25. There's gotta be something out there that catches your eye that doesn't fall into your "type"
