  1. I don't get it....
  2. I think that you're right.... and I think that it's happening a lot faster at Toyota than it did at GM.

    G80 FTW!
  4. OCN, we also live in the salt belt. The Japanese couldn't make a car that wouldn't return to the earth in 3 years till the 1992 Camry
  5. After seeing the new Sonata on the roads instead of just on the auto show floor, I hate it even more. It's styling an overwrought wreck.
  6. an article I'm working on is how the auto manufacturers.... all of them, not just GM and Ford, need to change the narrative away from the peek horsepower number. VW actually made a minuscule effort to do that years ago (I think it was around 2001 or 2002) with the TDIs. "Horsepower sells cars, Torque moves them", but stopped when they realized they sold every TDI they were allowed to sell in the US, so why bother to advertise them.
  7. Because peak horsepower numbers only tell the story at one point in time. For example, the 2.4 in the Lacrosse has it's peak horsepower right at redline, but the torque curve is almost flat. This is what direct injection gets you, very even low end torque. The Hyundai gets its best MPG from the cars very light weight and the same torque advantages that direct injection gets.....the number that makes the Hyundai more compelling is the 186ft/lbs at 4200rpm such a light package. 200hp at 6300rpm isn't all that impressive.
  8. stop looking at peak HP numbers anymore, they are going to become irrelevant here real soon.
  9. would have been more effective if there was actually a remarkable difference in the Pontiacs..... as it was, the Intrigue actually had a wider track.
  10. .... like playing Bridge..... if you don't have a good partner, you better have a good hand.
  11. Mileage is relative to price. Age.... well.. no carburetors...
  12. Cash is king, but I think you're going to have a hard time finding a GMT800 for that money and those miles and that vintage. The reason I am looking at the Oldsmobile is because they took the biggest depreciation hit of anything in the GM stable.
  13. Parisianne, 6000, Safari, Transport, Aztek, Quad-4 GrandAms, Rental G6es, Rental Grand Prix, Sunbirds........this is what the general public know about Pontiac. Most don't know about the Solstice or the G8, or that even the Grand Am could have been had with a 5.3 V8.
  14. Try to contain yourself Camino... I did find this one with 49k miles for $2,990..... but it's a little on the old side.
  15. for that amount of money and 57k miles..... in an '02 or newer?
  16. I hope you're not teaching him abstinence only sex ed.... I have an ongoing war with banks and anyone who charges interest. All future vehicles for me will be cash only. Well the Avalanche was never an issue with parking. It's purely a cost issue and the amount of cash I can muster. Still more than I want to spend right now. And that Bravada will last a good long time especially at that price..... now if only my bonus would finally come through...
  17. well, I believe the seats do fold flat.... ..XD.
  18. Well, I also look at the Bravada as a stepping stone. I really need a vehicle like yesterday. If I could be like Rodger and drive around the Bravada for 6 - 8 months and then trade into an Avalanche, that would be ideal. The Bravada is much closer to being in reach for me right now. Keep in mind, either way, I'm paying cash.
  19. I had really crappy weather the whole time I had it... so I wasn't in any position to notice any difference. 10 you can't really measure without equipment anyway.
  20. or it was *really* $h!ty gas. I put regular in the SRX turbo I had and it ran fine.
  21. It's about 1/3rd the cost of an avalanche of the same vintage and same miles....... and that's what utility trailers are for.
  22. Did GM customer service contact you?
  23. I'm thinking more like for higher power yet lighter weight electric motors for vehicles..... The Tesla Roadster can already walk away from most other cars with a motor the size of a large watermelon... imagine being able to power it with something the size of a cantaloupe instead.
