Americans are also getting fatter. I get it too. I have an Encore and its fine for just the two of us on a road trip, but now we have the in-laws who we have to cart around a lot also and the Encore is just too small. We won't go as big as an Enclave, but a Durango isn't out of the question. More than likely I'll end up in a big sedan though since I can get one so cheap and it's probably my last chance for a new(ish) 300.- 45 replies

Getting back to the original survey, I wonder if they didn't ask an important question.... with the prices of full size trucks going up so much, are buyers considering downsizing to mid-size trucks? Land Rover Discovery achieved an all-time sales record with 1,185 units sold, up 14 percent from its previous record of 1,039. The Range Rover Velar achieved an all-time sales record with 2,162 units, up 9 percent from its previous record of 1, 987 units. Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) today reported March sales of 27,004 Mercedes- Benz models. Mercedes-Benz Vans reported March sales of 3,533 units and smart reported 90 units, bringing MBUSA to a grand total of 30,627 vehicles for the month. On a year-to-date basis, MBUSA recorded sales of 71,171, adding 7,476 units for Vans and 231 vehicles for smart, bringing the year-to-date sales volume to 78,878. "While demand for our SUV lineup and new A-Class remains strong, we're still in the ramp-up phase of our launch," said Dietmar Exler, president and CEO of MBUSA. "We expect to further fuel momentum with the upcoming launches of our highly anticipated new models in the months ahead." Mercedes-Benz volume leaders in March included the GLC, C-Class and E-Class model lines. The GLC took the lead at 6,282, followed by C-Class sales of 5,514. The E-Class rounded out the top three with 3,712 units sold. March sales of Mercedes-AMG high-performance models totaled 3,435 units (+27.4%) with 9,684 vehicles sold year-to-date (+27.1%). Separately, Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned (MBCPO) models recorded sales of 10,560 vehicles in March, an increase of 0.1% when compared to the same month last year (10,554). On a year-to-date basis, MBCPO sold 30,365 vehicles, an increase of 2.1% from the previous year (29,741). Hyundai Motor America Reports March 2019 Sales Hyundai Total Sales Up 2%; Retail Sales Up 1% Best Total March SUV Sales Ever Record March Total Sales for Tucson Retail Sales Gains for Accent, Elantra, Kona, Tucson and Santa Fe FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., April 2, 2019 – Hyundai Motor America reported March sales of 61,177 units, a 2% increase in comparison with March 2018 and the eighth straight month of increasing sales. Retail sales in March grew by 1% as Hyundai’s well-rounded product lineup, expanding SUV offerings and focus on customer experience helped Hyundai again outpace the industry. Hyundai sales in 2019 are off to a strong start in a toughening market, up 2% in the first quarter. I wonder why Mazda doesn't just sell this on their own in the US. They sell it as the Mazda 2 in other countries. They have a pretty good rep here. Maybe its just easier to let Toyota do the marketing. -

MAZDA REPORTS MARCH SALES RESULTS April 2, 2019 IRVINE, Calif. (April 2, 2019) – Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today reported total March sales of 26,934 vehicles, a decrease of 19.1 percent compared to March 2018. Year-to-date sales through March saw a decrease of 15.7 percent, with 70,833 vehicles sold. With 27 selling days in March, compared to 28 the year prior, the company posted a decrease of 16.1 percent on a Daily Selling Rate (DSR) basis. CPO sales totaled 5,555 vehicles in March, an increase of 22 percent compared to March 2018.Year-to-date CPO sales through March increased 18 percent, with 13,857 vehicles sold. Mazda Motor de Mexico (MMdM) reported March sales of 6,031 vehicles, an increase of 46 percent compared to March last year. Year-to-date sales through March increased 22 percent, with more than 16,189 vehicles sold.

Toyota Motor North America Reports March 2019 Sales C-HR sales increased 8.1 percent; a best-ever March and first quarter 4Runner sales up 6.4 percent; a best-ever March and first quarter Tacoma up 12.6 percent; a best-ever March and first quarter NXh sales up 21.2 percent; a best-ever March (18th consecutive) and first quarter PLANO, Texas (April 2, 2019) – Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) today reported March 2019 sales of 214,947 vehicles, an increase of 0.1 percent on a daily selling rate (DSR) basis and a decrease of 3.5 percent on a volume basis versus March 2018. For the quarter, TMNA reported sales of 543,714 vehicles, a decrease of 3.7 percent on a DSR basis and a 5.0 percent decrease on a volume basis. Toyota division posted March sales of 185,696 units, down 1.6 percent on a DSR basis and down 5.1 percent on a volume basis. For the quarter, Toyota division reported sales of 476,923 vehicles, down 4.8 percent on a DSR basis and down 6.1 percent on a volume basis. “Light trucks and SUVs continue to lead the way for our industry, and Toyota’s Tacoma and RAV4 first-quarter sales results are a reflection of the strong consumer appeal of these vehicles,” said Jack Hollis, group vice president and general manager, Toyota division. “Passenger cars, however, remain an important part of Toyota’s portfolio. Earlier in the month, we introduced the all-new Corolla — the world’s best-selling nameplate — now with a hybrid option, which comes on the heels of Prius AWD, Camry TRD and Avalon TRD introductions. While some of our competitors are abandoning sedans, we remain optimistic about the future of the segment.” Lexus division posted March sales of 29,249 vehicles, up 12.2 percent on a DSR basis and up 8.2 percent on a volume basis. For the quarter, Lexus sales of 66,791 vehicles were up 5.4 percent on a DSR basis and up 4.0 percent on a volume basis. “Lexus had a solid start to 2019.
