  1. wow, and here I thought somebody would find it interesting about the old quote of "you can have a model t in any color as long as it's black". Way to fixate on the 10% of the video that was not about the trivia.
  2. Some trivia for y'all
  3. The can, but most are just shrouding and other aero. A naked bike is generally considered a sport bike without the shrouds. More sporty than a standard bike.
  4. Ah okay. I wasn't sure what point you were trying to make.
  5. substantially different time frames (not that I'm excusing Tesla.... or GM for that matter)
  6. Not sure if you're joking or not.... but they expanded their workforce by 30% and then need to cut it by 7%. It sounds like they expanded too rapidly to get the Model-3 going.
  7. Ford released details on the Ford Explorer Hybrid at the Detroit Auto Show this week, but a Plug-in Hybrid wasn't mentioned. Curiously, at the Ford stand, the sign next to the hybrid version of the Explorer mentioned it as a Plug-In. One of the engineers standing nearby told me this was a misprint, but that is a pretty serious misprint to make and then actually put on the show floor. We do know that the Explorer platform is capable of being a plug-in hybrid as its stable mate over at Lincoln, the Lincoln Aviator is getting a plug-in hybrid in its GT form. Is it likely that Ford is holding back on announcing the Ford Explorer Plug-In Hybrid just so that the Lincoln Aviator can get some traction with its version first? Sound off below.

  9. Shares actually are dropping at the time of this writing.
  10. I thought you were already boycotting Tesla?
  11. In an email to all employees today, Elon Musk has announced that Tesla plans to layoff 7% of its staff or about 3,150 jobs. In addition to these cuts, Tesla will also retain only the most critical of contractors and temporary workers. Tesla's workforce grew by 30% last year. Musk reported that preliminary financial results for Q4-2018 show a small profit, smaller than the 4% profit reported for Q3-2018. Musk stressed that Telsa must work to get the mid-range Model-3 available in all markets by May in order to target a tiny profit for that quarter. The email was also posted to Tesla's company blog. Hat tip to reader @Cmicasa the Great for notifying us of the story.

  13. I go both ways. I drive to work sometimes. I take the bus sometimes. It is not unusual for me to drive to work with Albert, but leave the car with him and take the bus home since he has to stay later. I like the bus, but sometimes I want my own car. What I hate most is driving in city rush-hour traffic.
  14. This is a 3series sized car.
  15. Cool! The 3.3T Genesis drives great. If it wasn't for the oddly outdated infotainment system, I could really see it as an option.
  16. Given how big the cars were in the 1960s, one wonders what the builders were thinking with the garage design. There's no way an 88 sedan would have fit in there and no way an 88 coupe could have gotten its doors open.
  17. nothing here yet either. We're moving Albert's parents to a new apartment on Saturday, so we're keeping a very close eye on the weather.
  18. "Sad trombone" is putting it nicely. *old man mode - engage* Back in my day,.... I remember having to be up at 5 am to make it to a 6:30 am press conference and press conferences didn't end until 4:30pm and still continued the next day. This year, the first conference was at 8:40 and the last one ended at 2:05 with nothing on the second day. Plus Mercedes, Volvo, Tesla, BMW didn't even bother to show up, so the floor felt empty.
  19. from the interwebs:
  20. This storm we're supposed to get is all over the place. Sometimes we're getting 1 inch of snow, other times we're getting 1 foot of snow. Right now its in the 3 - 5 inch range.
  21. My driveway slopes down and then there is a flat area to park the cars. Beyond that is a further hill covered in a forest of bamboo. Coming home last night the bottom of the driveway was iced over and I was going too fast. Almost ended up with the Buick in the Bamboo.
  22. Excellent points made here. If I can get my driveway re-shaped, I would like to own a CPO CT6 Platinum in a few years. Right now, it high-centers at the top of the driveway and I believe (I never got it down the driveway to find out) it would scrape at the bottom. Eff it... I just need to buy a new house with a flat driveway.
