The G-wagon is more of a technical rugged off-road look. The Escalade looks more sensual luxury. Both designs have their place. Everyone here knows how much I've bashed the current G-Wagon... but this update looks pretty convincing to me and it might actually justify its pricetag now. I'd like to see some updated powertrains, but the rest of the body shape could largely carry over and I'd be fine with it. -
Well, we haven't seen the face yet. The current design language from the rear is unusually expressive, but I wouldn't call it ugly.

Interesting that they are dropping the DSG... or maybe that's only a GLI option. The DSG is only 6 forward speeds though, to maybe the 8-speed improves mpg enough to make a difference.
