    and then there is this.. the thing is, while I started at $25k, I'm finding cheaper and cheaper vehicles that would be acceptable. Since I'm only planning on keeping the next one for about 2 - 3 year, perhaps I'm heading in the right direction. As cheap as I can go without buying a project.

    Actually, if it is the platform mate to anything, the 9-5 goes with the Impala/XTS. However the body panels and interiors are totally different. On the 9-7x, it's pretty much a Bravada/Rainier shell with a Saab face and the interior is the same as the Rainier except for the shape of the dash. The 9-5 is platform engineering at its best and the 9-7x is badge engineering at nearly its worst.... however, I'm not going to let the fact that the 9-7x is a badge engineered Buick Rainier stop me from getting an amazing deal on a luxury SUV. Edit: The body panels are so interchangeable between the GMT360s, I saw someone who put a TB front clip on a Rainier and it came out looking ok.

    The Hemi/8-Speed combo should be coming the Charger's way for next year's refresh. It isn't an issue with the Hemi. The Ram recieved the Hemi/8-speed duo for 2013. Yeah, but that's a newer redesign and could have been built for it from the start. I see the LX in the Ghibli, but aside from some buttons on the door, I see no similarity to the LX hardpoints in the Quattroporte..

    My guess is that it's an issue with the Hemi and that most Challengers are sold with one so there is no point in building the V6+8speed model. None of the Hemi powered LX cars have the 8-speed.

    "A refreshed Challenger will debut next year for the 2015 model year on a new platform, coded LA. The current platform cannot support the new 8-speed automatic transmissions and still makes use of the old Daimler-sourced electrial system." Huh? What's so different about the Challenger that it can't use the 8-speed while the 300 and Charger can? Or are you speaking strictly of the Hemi models?

    While I really like the 9-5, I don't know that I could go with such an orphan. The 9-7x is 95% Rainier/Bravada and has a decent chance of having parts out there. On a side note... man people seem to really love their Bravadas... they run them up well over 100k miles before they start listing them for sale.

    I've had a whole bunch this month. A Delorian, two Teslas, to final 9-5s (one black, one white) best looking Epsilon made, and a Corolla with "Buy American" stickers all over the back.

    The other day I watched as a woman was trying to back her Lexus SUV into a tight parking garage parking spot while I was backing out. She was clearly using her sensors and camera... as she pulled forward towards me I was thinking, "Lady, my rear parking sensor is chrome and weighs over 150 lbs, which of us is going to win here?"

    I've kinda zeroed in on this one. Love the color, both interior and exterior, right equipment, right mileage, decent price.

    So... do all the 9-7x's and Rainiers have air suspension or was it optional?

    well that's ok, I'm not a fan of the TB interior. But I can start narrowing down my search a bit. The 9-7x still seems to be the screaming deal of the bunch.

    Oooh. I'm not going to go that specific on one of these and the 6.0 is way overkill. I'm not against the 5.3 for the right price, I just like the smoothness of the 4.2. Would the Rainier have a softer suspension or about the same as the rest?

    Didn't the 9-7x also have the Trailblazer SS suspension?

    Yeah, that was similar to one of the examples I saw. 32k miles, V8 and loaded for $16k. I think I'd rather have the 4.2 liter, so even that one in Texas you listed would be worth the road trip.

    Only uploaded pictures are stored on the HDDs. Everything else, regardless of age, is stored on the SSD. If you are looking a a thread with lots of pictures in it, it may be pulling harder from the HDDs and feeling slower. SSD is more pricey, but I might upgrade all of our storage to SSD for speed reasons if the performance doesn't improve enough after the upgrade.

    Good car in need of a freshening. My neighbor is on her 3rd one... as a happy customer each time.

    Good to know. The picture uploads are on a different drive (HDD rather than SSD) than the rest of the site. browsing traffic seems roughly the same

    I like the interior... but the exterior could use a bit of a freshening to Volvo's newer design language.

    Well this bodes well for the storage speed upgrade we're getting on Monday. Storage speed has always been out primary source of slowness.

    There aren't really "SRT" dealers either... they are just a roped off section in a Dodge dealer.
